Adderall Backorder (Page 13)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?
Re: bp01 (# 1722)
unless you're attempting to fill too early, I don't know why a pharmacy would be against filling a script out of pocket...
have you used that pharmacy in the past? perhaps they think you're trying to fill up early by switching pharmacies?
Re: bp01 (# 1721)
unfortunately, that varies wildly between pharmacies (even those in the same chain) and even individual pharmacists. worse yet, some seem to outright tell you false information if you press them on it.
Re: Cyr (# 1717)
I read this too, but if this is the case and according to the shortages .gov site the medicine is not listed as shortage, then why do all the pharmacies not have them? I get some not ordering in time, but all?
Has anyone had any luck with Walgreens this month?
CVS is refusing to fill for me, including self-pay/out-of-pocket, because they don't take BCBS insurance.
Re: Repsol (# 1720)
I usually just text them and ask if it's available. If they already have your scripts on file from your doc they shouldn't have an issue with disclosing whether they can fill it or not.
Re: Anon (# 1716)
Hey there- is there a reliable way to figure out when its bound to be back in stock?
Therefore, I will know when to ask my doc to send the script again.
My go to pharmacy, Capsule, in NYC, always acknowledges when my doc's script has been received; I can go online to see it. If a medicine was out of stock, then I would be notified as I tried to check out.
Recently they stopped acknowledging receipt of Adderall scripts, so that folks do not get to the checkout window and then flip out "wtf it was listed as ready to check out, what do you mean it is out of stock?"
So I have no way to really check and know when to ask my doc to send a script in.
Re: BlessedLady (# 1718)
Great advice, for sure.
I've also gotten in the habit of halving one of my weekend pills during weekends or days I don't have to work, in preparation for another potential shortage.
Re: Anon (# 1716)
Now is the time to start putting back some pills each month for when there is another shortage at the end of 2023. The DEA reduced the amount of active ingredients they allow manufacturers more in 2023 than they have in previous years.
Lannett are no longer on backorder and readily available since 1/18/23. Teva are available in limited supply or "allocated". Look for update on 1/23/23. Sandoz is available. Rhodes is unavailable. Alvogen is unavailable until end of Jan. or sometime in Feb. This is from FDA list of drugs on backorder. It all depends on what the wholesaler/supplier has in stock when your pharmacy orders. The DEA may also limit the amount a pharmacy is allowed in a month.
Re: Anon (# 1715)
With that said, the shortage will hopefully be over soon and I assume everyone will be able to get their scripts in the near future, I’m in Pennsylvania. If you can talk to the receptionist at your psychiatrist and ask if they know of pharmacies that have it available.
Prescribed 2x 30mg and 2x 10mg , Rite aid has been able to fill 10s but 30s have been out of stock for 2 months. so I switched to a community pharmacy who had Lannett and were able to fill my 30s.
Friend of mine just got his 20s filled from Rite aid after 3 months and they are also Lannett brand.
Yes, generic adderall is on back order, I never had this happen bf until now. The pharmacy doesn't have any idea when they'll get this in.
Re: EasyE (# 1712)
That's encouraging news. Many people have hated the Camber. Nevertheless, something is better than nothing.
I went to cvs for a refill and expected to wait up to a week. However, for the first time in months, my medication was in stock and filled the same day! I also recieved a generic brand I have never had before (Amerigen / API pharma) It is decent, but not as effective as the Camber generic.
Re: Rcma (# 1710)
Thank you for this information. There is still a shortage of medication in this state and anything that could help is appreciated.
Here's some real, science based information that might actually be helpful. Try taking L-Tyrosine which can be purchased at any health food marketplace, GNC, supplements section at most pharmacies, Walmart, Target (i.e., not shady gas station overkroced stimulants).
L-Tyrosine is an essential component for the production of several important brain chemicals called neurotransmitters, including epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine. Neurotransmitters help nerve cells communicate and influence mood. [1]
Tyrosine is a popular dietary supplement used to improve alertness, attention and focus. It produces important brain chemicals that help nerve cells communicate and may even regulate mood. [2]
Seems this once informative thread is becoming platform for grievances, anti - regulatory rants, whataboutism, gas station OTC nootropics, screeds about fairness and deservability.

Re: 1984Again (# 1708)
I agree marijuana is not for me at all. It worsens my ADHD. I feel like I can't breath, my brain does not function at all, and the worst thing is that it makes me extremely paranoid.
I have been taking gas station Adderall or energy shots and a lot of caffeine to try and help. Expensive. The gas station Adderall is called Addall, 8 bucks a shot or for 2 pills. It helps a little, but not a lot.
I would have never done this if I weren't a month without Adderall. The gas station owner told me that the bottle sitting next to the Addall was really good also. I figured I would try it because it might help a little. I tried it and went to work. About 30 minutes later, I was really messed up, paranoid, and couldn't think or focus. When I verbally spoke in my mind to myself, it kept feeling like I was saying it out loud and everyone heard me. It really freaked me out, because I was at work. I took the bottle out and read it which I should've done before instead of listening to the gas station owner. It said it was Delta 8 THC, which can also show up positive on a drug test for marijuana. I was stoned at work. I haven't done anything like that in 25 years.

Yes, it's ridiculous. And at the same time, while ADHD and narcolepsy patients get shafted by the FDA/DEA/alphabet soup's cutting the allocation of stimulants, the same agencies raise hundredfolds the amount of marijuana and psychedelics permitted for drug manufacturing purposes.
This is being done to provide new revenue streams: since almost all stimulants have gone generic or will very soon, while opioids and benzodiazepines are off patent and dirt cheap, stakeholders for pharmaceutical companies (who, by law, need to be satisfied FIRST, the patient is irrelevant) need to demonize/make unavailable/render less effective the established drugs, as we have been seen in the last decade. Then, the alphabet agencies accommodate the new "craze" (pardon the pun) of fooling the American public into believing that cannabis is a one-sized fits all panacea for every mental or physical ill imaginable ("just try a different strain!!!!") and psychedelics like LSD (which was thoroughly studied in the latter half of the 20th century and has been well documented as detrimental to the mentally ill) are "new mental health breakthroughs".
Being treated for ADHD was like someone with horrific vision receiving their first pair of glasses--the bifocals they needed all along. Not only does marijuana do nothing for me in any area, it has actually worsened any pain, anxiety, ADHD and Asperger symptoms, makes me non-functional, is generally nauseating and physically uncomfortable feeling, and I will not join the hive mind of the last few years, spouting pot-paganda, celebrating the ninth new " dispensary" opening its wares in my small town over the last two years, insisting that " everyone" can "learn to love" pot and stop the medications that have helped them live normally (ADHD meds in my case).
We live in Backwardsville, Clown World. Anyone else want a time machine back to the Shire Adderall era, or the Dexedrine Spansules era of neighborhood pharmacies and other small businesses that treated their customers like human beings?
Re: Ken (# 1706)
I keep telling people but: paper scripts. They help a ton. Ask your doctor if its possible for them to give you them. That way, you can check pharmacy availability yourself (although you do have to go in person). If you have a really good doctor, they can even still send in another dosage if you really can't find your normal one anywhere.
Good luck out there.
Re: Splitt2nd (# 1705)
I agree. Most prescriptions are electronic. Mine are, but it would be easier to have written prescription for Adderall. Most pharmacies won't tell you if they have it in stock or not over phone nor in person without prescription...crazy. It's not like we would go rob a pharmacy for 30 to 60 pills....lol, well maybe someone might. Doctors aren't going to continuously call the prescriptions into 20 different pharmacies until you find one that has it. I've been taking it for 20+ years. I had a psychiatrist at the University of TN - Memphis School of Medicine write it for me for both ADD and depression augmentation. Basically I was researched and studied...lol. Sessions were recorded and probably used in classes. The depression part is a whole other story.
