This contains the active ingredient Alprazolam, which is a Benzodiazepine, which is commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders.

However, there haven't been any controlled studies done on their use in children, but there have been reports of the side effects being even more severe in children, than in adults.

And, to be completely honest, if it were my child, I would not let them use such a medication at such a young age. I have 2 main reasons for this, the first being that they are extremely habit forming, with regular use...

And that fact leads to my second reason, if doses are ever missed, or you ever stop giving it to them abruptly, it is liable to cause some severe withdrawal and rebound effects, which can include dangerous seizures.

You need to discuss it with your child's doctor and make up your own mind on whether or not it is right for your child to take this medication, I just want you to be aware of the facts, ahead of time.

There are safer medications that can be used for anxiety in children, such as an antihistamine, some of them have similar sedating effects to Benzodiazepines, but they don't carry the same severe risks and dangers.
