Accutane Long Term Side Effects (Page 59)

Updated

I have a son that took accutane 60 mg a day for six months in a row three years ago. Now after many trips to doctors over strange medical problems, it seems accuatne is the culprit medication that has caused servere joint and muscle pain, severe dry lips, redness in face, eye infections of own immune system attacking itself, systems of osteoarthritis in both shoulders, both wrist and right hand, blood in stool, possible hair loss, abnormal liver function test results in AST and ALT. My son went from being a high school football and track athlete while taking this medication three years ago to someone that is in constant pain just washing a car. After I have researched this drug extensively, I can't believe that the FDA allows this drug originally made for cancer patients to be marketed for teenagers with acne. All one has to do is look online what vitamin A overdose does to someone and then you have the results of what this medication has done to my son. This drug needs to be taken off them market ASAP and the drug companies that make it need to compensate all teenagers that they have possible ruined their future. Shame on them! What is going on here?

JRAD,

They did say there was a high content of yeast in both samples. I'm getting a colonosocpy (spelling) in two weeks, the gastro Dr. wants to check everything out. He thinks its colitis from the symptoms i have described. Hopefully its an easy fix, but these problems have been coming and going for 10 years now since I took the medicine. At 28 i'm too young to have these issues.

How do I find JRAD detox site? If my son has H. Pylori but can't take antibiotics....what can he take naturally that can eradicate this? I don't see any proven remedies. Is Accutane & H. pylori a common "side effect?

I had the h pluria myself after taking it. Do not panic if you go to a natural supplements store they can help
Other than that lots of juices like Cranberry and the like
He will be good to go after a few dAys even though it really makes you feel rough. Tha bad news it will always be there in his system.

I do not have a detox site of my own. I recommend going to a natural doctor. I always advocate avoiding sugars, gluten, and lactose(the foods for bacteria.) I am not an expert on h pylori in particular. I've read zinc carnosine is very good against it. As mentioned colloidal silver kills everything. Please keep in mind that detoxification is different for everybody. If you detox to fast you can experience extreme diarrhea. The toxins will also hit your brain hard and give you severe depression or headaches. Accutane has no "common" side effect other than letting any bacteria, parasite etc in the body. So it depends on what you get exposed to during and after accutane. So as the result of accutane just pick any microrganism in our environment and it has the possiblity of taking over.

If you ever get too much acid from detoxification(result of histamine production) you probably will need bentonite clay to soak up all the acids. I would have never survived 4 cloves of garlic a day without clay to soak up the acids.

John,

I hope you get well. I believe I was 26 or 27 when I was diagnosed with pancolitis. If doctors gave me the proper diet and treatment in the beginning I believe I would be 100% better now. You can attack yeast with the antifungals mentioned. Yeast actually produces PABA which will help the enzymatic reaction and thus feed any bad bacteria. So throwing sulfur at bacteria won't take care of the yeast problem. So bad bacteria and yeast love each other. You could say symbiotic relationship.

Sorry If I repeat myself. My brain still goes in spells. I still have lots of toxins in me. Anyways, I try to let everyone know what I've learned. Fight doctors with science and they will hate you for knowing the truth.

Check out cancer tutor website as well. Water Ozonation, magnetic pulsing, and blood electrification are very good for attacking bacteria. Clark Zappers can target specific bacteria. BTW I don't sell this stuff or make any money :( It's all free. I just want everyone to have freedom. The cancer cure is a great book. Accutane aka chemotherapy used for cancer. Thus used for acne. Acne caused by bad bacteria. Bad bacteria= cancer? You decide!

From the heart,

hello jane.. yes.. it causes mental problems.. difficulty focusing at first and hard to concentrate on anything... my brother suffered from schizophrenia and is going thru a lot of hardship now. it is hard for me to accept what has happened to him but there is nothing we can do but support him.. i saw him have seizures before his schizophrenic episodes.. we do not have this disease in our family and doctors say that he is a bit too old already to have this.. we all know accutane caused it coz he went thru either 2 or 3 cycles. it messed him up real bad.. he used to be super active in sports and now he cant really do any of that anymore.. i hope people out there use their brains.. please stop taking this poison. it is for your own good. once the buying stops, the manufacturer will stop selling.. i hope they just shut down the whole company already coz they have destroyed millions of lives and will not stop just to make some money. brainwashing all teens and doctors to take this stuff.. putting out vague commercials on tv and telling people its what they should take.. noone really knows what the pill does to you.. accutane is poison... please everyone understand.. its not really good for you. and it will not change your life for the better but it will slowly destroy you. hope people who are victims keep fighting for their lives. i pray for everyone who has been suffering and wish that you all have strength to fight this battle.

Jane,

Your personality does change when you take accutane. It's just part of what goes with replacing good bacteria with bad bacteria. I would say look up canditoxins. The toxins from the die off of pathogenic bacteria/yeast can hit the brain with severe depression. These toxins would absolutely spiral me downward. Unfortunately, nobody will listen to you and they think you should just suck it up. Don't feel bad that you can't control it. Just remember it will be over after the toxins flush. Maybe take some bentonite clay to help absorb the toxins. As Scott mentioned dietary changes can help...You really have to avoid gluten, sugar, yeast, lactose. Juicing veggies (not fruits)is a great way of getting the immune system going. Anyways, I'm really sorry you feel this way. Please remember that there are many others out there like you. Some people are even dead from this drug or have suffered physical pain like no other. Right now is the best time for you to fight it through diet. Wish you the best!

And I still breakout multiple times a day.. As of this moment before bed I am scratching from head to toe.. Someone PLEASSE SEND ME AN EMAIL if u can help me in anyway.. I want them gone.. It's not fun anymore. And I want this to go away..

Hey Matthew, I am also a 19 year old who took accutane when I was 14, are hives the only long term side effect you have? Or was there more damage?

Hey guys, I just wanted to share my story. In June 2009, I was finishing my Last month (5th) of accutane. My dermatologist decided it would be a good idea to up the dose so I could "knock the acne out for good." I can't remember if the doses was upped to 60 mg or 80 mg.

Anyway, I started feeling a lot of head pressure, so bad that it was tough for me to even lay down. Turns out I ended up getting Pseudotumor Cerebri, which is what you can get when your body has too much vitamin A.

Since July 2009 until now, I have never felt the same, I am to the point now that I feel off balance and dizzy almost every day. I also wake up extremely tired randomly, and have trouble breathing and swallowing.

My doctor says I may have Multiple Sclerosis, and I can't help but think he may be somewhat right. Accutane did damage my brain in some way, although I cannot see a neurologist until early March, I fear the excess accutane may have somehow damaged my cell proliferation, which scares the hell out of me.

I am also losing my hair at a rapid rate, and I just can't help but think this is the accutane, I mean, why else would I be having these problems at 21? Do you guys have any suggestions that might help? I just hope my cells are not dying at a rapid rate. I'm doing a detox now, but I'm not sure it's going to help.

All I know is I DID get too much vitamin A in my system, and I'm having long term effects now.

Matthew,
Now that you are over 18 years of age, you can go to a doctor, and if you want, not have your parents know. Get checked out again by a doctor to find out what is causing your hives.
Good Luck!
Scott

I am wondering if anyone has information about lawsuits/etc.
I am 22 years old and took accutane when I was 17 years old. For the past 4 years I have experienced MANY side affects. I have had a migraine/severe headache every single day. I don't remember what it is like to feel good and be pain free. I have had some intestinal problems as well and have actually only recently been experiencing severe stomach pain/ bloating/ etc. I have had a continuous sore throat/runny nose for the past 4 years as well. I have experienced severe body aches/ pain/ fatigue. My vision has changed. I have back/ neck/ joint pain. Also severe nausea.
I was extremely active growing up and did not experience these symptoms.

My life has changed drastically because of this medicine. I have missed a lot of work because of these side affects.
I am looking to gain financial compensation for the pain this is causing me.

Anyone who can help with lawsuits, anyone who has more information about lawsuits they may have filed/etc. would be greatly appreciated!!

I just want to feel normal.

Have you acutally seen a physican and got a diagnosis? Say like psuedo tumor, diabetes or chron's or IBD? Really the only lawsuits have been for chron's and IBD before it was listed as a side effect.

Thanks for the response! I have been to many different doctors and specialists. All say "sorry, I think you must just get sick easily. I don't know what it is." I've been put on all sorts of short-term medications and nothing helped/helps.
Thinking about going to see a gastroenterologist about possible IBS.
You're not sure I could get a valid lawsuit (if any at all) unless I have either Chrons/IBS/etc.?
Thanks!
