I took accutane almost 14 years ago as a teenager. I am now a 32 year old woman who has just been diagnosed with infertility that they believe is linked to autoimmune issues. I truly believe that accutane is the cause of this; from the research that I have done it seems that accutane has been linked to other thyroid-related diseases, but that they have not yet been able to prove a link between accutane and infertility. There are, however, actually more people like me out there than I originally thought. Being diagnosed with ovarian dysfunction has been a horrific, horrific blow. And while there was plenty of information about accutane and birth defects, no one ever mentioned a possibility of future infertility. I was a teenager! This is a tragedy and I believe something should be done about it. If you too have been affected diagnosed with infertility and have taken accutane, please email me. There are plenty of suits against accutance. If there are enough of us, we can come together to do the medical research and get the help we now need.

I'm not sure about Accutane and infertility, however before there was warning labels by husband took this drug in the eighties. Within a year of taking it he developed chromes. It took several trips to the mayo clinic to determine why he had ulcers that would not heal. For thirty years he has lived with the disabling effects of taking Accutane. You may want to look up lawsuits pending with the drug, maybe there will be some information on infertility. Good Luck. To anyone who is taking the drug make sure you take the warning labels serious.

I am 25 year old male and was on accutane for 3 months for mild but persistent acne last year. I did read up on the risks beforehand but my dermatologist assured me it was safe even after voicing my concerns. I have not had any side effects since stopping the medication. However i do not remember hearing about possible sterility and after reading all of these comments i got a bit nervous so i would like to know if anyone has any more information on the topic or a link to information.

I am 31, and was on two rounds of Accutane as a teenager (14/15). When I was 18, I found out I had endometriosis. I have been doing some reading and really feel that there is a direct link to the Accutane. Is anyone else suffering from endometriosis that has been on Accutane?

I am 33 years old and was on Accutane when I was 16. My Twin sister was also on it at the same time. I just found out that she has been trying to concive for the past 2 years and I also have had no luck. I would like to know if there are any studies goining on curently to find out if accutane is the cause or not? If not how do we petition for one?

I took accutane when I was 15, am 35 now. My husband and I have been together for 15yrs and have 2 babies. However, we have NEVER used birth control in 15yrs! I have always wondered if my use of accutane is the cause of my fertility issues as well, as I have been diagnosed with fertility issues of my own. Fertility issues don't run in my family either, as my great grandmother had 21 children of her own. Most of the women in my family can get pregnant by just looking at a man!! Infertility as a possible side effect was never presented to me at that time either.

Yes I believe acutane is the reason I can't have children I stopped literally overnight getting my period at 40. I thought I had cancer or something was wrong but nothing thankfully was wrong. For years I just thought it was a fluke then out of the blue it dawned on me that it was because of the acutane 2x actually once at 25 and then again around 30 and I truly believe with all my heart that s*** burned all my eggs and dried them up and killed them horrible thought honestly there is no other explaination.

I am 33 years of age and I have been trying to have babies since my first child at 19years old. I took accutane as a teen ager and since then I have had major stomach problems, surgery after surgery. I suffer from severe migraines for the past 15 years. I would like more info on which steps to take about this class action.

Or there is an underlying inflammatory disease, which leads to severe acne, IBD and infertility and has nothing to do with Accutane.

What percentage of women who have fertility problems have never taken Accutane? 99%, 99.9%?

I also took accutane as a teenager. I am now in my mid 30s and suffer from infertility. I have seen several specialists and was finally diagnosed with immune-related infertility. I have high inflammation levels measured by NK activity, TNFa and INFg, which prevents implantation. I see that accutane causes IBD, which is an inflammatory disease. I wonder if accutane is responsible (or partially responsible) for my infertility issues. My sisters never took accutane and have children.

I am 39 and was diagnosed with severely diminsihed ovarian reserve, have had 3 miscarriages, failed IVF's and am now also looking at donor eggs.

I had no warning that roaccutane could potentially cause infertility and am heartbroken if taking this drug has caused me to be unable to have children.

and yes i am now using benzoyl peroxide..zinc ..fish oil..raisins and jujube fruit.and will never take accutane!

Reading this blog is really hitting home. For the past 3 years we have been dealing with loss after loss with no explanations. Finally, after lots of testing, I was diagnosed with premature diminished ovarian reserve. The RE is telling me I will not have a biological child and that we have to look into donor eggs.
I have looked into my health history and Accutane was the only thing that made me wonder, I googled it and found all your stories. I am livid that this was NEVER even mentioned as a possibility when using Accutane. We have gone thru so much loss and this is the only explanation for it. Has anyone contacted an attorney? I would be interested in speaking to anyone that has. I'm located in Massachusetts, US.

You should be fine taking for 10days. I am not sure how severe your acne is, but look into holistic measures and a good diet! I know people too with severe acne who had good success with Light therapy and if you have hormonal problems fixing that will help

Istrongly believe aAccutane is caused f infertility n spontaneous miscarriages which ive had a few.at my age having kids is no more in my plans. We shoul . Band togethern hire a team of high power aattorneys n doctors for research. Please reply.

Im 55 years old, with no living kids. Have had many miscarriages over year. Ive always bbelieved it was because of accutane. To this day im not on any birth conception. I search for years trying to start a claim. Please keep me update with your findings.

I took Accutane at 18 for severe cystic acne that wouldn't respond to anything else. After struggling with infertility for a year I was recently diagnosed with POF at age 30 - high FSH, few eggs, very poor egg quality. I had normal periods before Accutane, went on birth control pills for 11 years, and now that I'm off the pill, have super-light periods that barely last a day. I'm not sure if Accutane caused my reproductive problems, or if I've always had an underlying condition that affects hormones (and causes acne) and has over time ruined my ovaries. All I know is that I was warned about Accutane causing serious birth defects, but was told nothing about the possibility of infertility.

Are you sure it was infertility? Or was it a problem with children being born with disability of some type if conceived / carried while on the medication? That's been well known for a long time but I'm certainly not aware of any claim that it is related to infertility.... would love to see a scan of the documents you were given to read. Are you able to scan and post or quote verbatim?
