I accidentally took 2 doses of my blood pressure medication (Triamterene-Hydrochlorothiazide 37.5 - 25 mg). What should I do or what could happen?

Hi Marquetta,

Sorry to hear about your situation. How are you feeling since taking that extra dose?

My personal opinion is that it may be best to contact your doctor, local pharmacist and/or poison control just to be on the safe side.

However, if this medicine is lowering your blood pressure, perhaps engaging in some sort of physical activity that gets your heart rate up could help counteract the possibility of severe hypotension. Please note that this is not medical advice, but just my own theory, since that's what these medications are indicated for... As far as what could potentially happen outside of low blood pressure, there may be an increased risk of each medication's list of common side effects. Although, I suspect that you'd be fine once the half-life was reached.

Hopefully everything is going well since the timing of your post.
