I just started Abilify 2 months ago... what a trip it's been! At the beginning I started to hear voices, luckily they were my son and husband. (I called my shrink, no return call.) Then when I took a nap, I could hear them, I talked to them and saw them if I woke up quick. (I called my shrink, no return call.)

I can't remember the easiest words during a conversation, and have to describe it. You know that round thing on your car that can pop, yeah tire! .... I'm calling to make an appointment to get my husband's, uh,um, TOOTH, ya, tooth pulled...as I am speaking with the Oral Surgeon's office. (Called my shrink, no return call.)

Well this past weekend I was exausted. My husband, son's girlfriend and I took an hour drive to get some "new to us" furniture. I had to pull over I was going too slow going along tight back roads, and almost fell asleep. I take it at night, 5mg, and my husband wakes me up with a bite of pizza in my mouth. (I blew off new shrink of 2 months.)

I have no idea what to do since my anxiety and pain have been better. (I will tell my primary in 1 1/2 weeks.)

Abilify has caused more damage in my life than my mental disorder ever did in 5 months and I got off of it in March it's still causing problems. Please get help but get off the drug

There are other medications you can try, though Abilify does work well for some people and most side effects are usually transient, so they might improve in the future. The FDA lists others as possibly including weight changes, nausea, and constipation.

Julia, what issues have you experienced from taking it?

I have been on Lexapro for anxiety and depression, and my doctor added Abilify 10mg along with 10mg Lexapro for mood swings. Unfortunately I had severe irritability, restlessness, agitation and anger issues with it so my dose was reduced to 7.5 mg, but I'm finding the issues still persist. Are these common side effects of Abilify?
