I suggest we all look at BigLots! They usually carry closeout items for a while after it's taken off the shelves. After that, we are out of luck! It was a wonderful product. I can't imagine why they decided to discontinue it.

I haven't received my Aspergum yet but I haven't received a notice that my order can't be filled either.

I will let everyone know if I get it. I know how much Aspergum means to everyone. LOL

I emailed the pharmacy in Canada asking for more info on aspergum - to see if it was really the same stuff. The email was returned - no such email account! Go figure!
When all else fails, just chew some childrens chewable flavored aspirin. It worked great on my last sore throat!!!!! I figure there is more than one way to skin a cat!

My elderly Mom has coughing spasms. We have tried w/out success to find Aspergum to give her some relief. We can't find it anywhere either. It sure worked! Was around since I was little. Why did they stop making it ?????

It always worked. Maybe that's why it was discontinued. My mom has a sore throat now and the Cloriseptic drops only work for a while.

It is was couple of days ago, probably May 26 or 27, on one of the morning Fox News shows where an older doctor gives medical news and advise and it is discussed. Good info! I don't know his name, but they call him Doc---Very interesting and informative doctor...He told about some new info about taking aspirin if anyone is having chest pains that might be a heart attack. He said that the new info is that chewing a piece of Aspergum got the medication into the blood stream more rapidly than an aspirin tablet. And no side effects... Makes sense to us....so we went to get some today...and could not find any. (Aspergum was a must in our house when I was growing up for when canker sores hurt or we had a sore throat or an injury in our mouth! As kids, we weren't given aspirin, but we WERE given Aspergum--and only for those reasons! And my kids were given it the seldom times it was the perfect medication for those reasons. -- The aspirin in the Aspergum would not be sitting in the stomach and apt to cause someone problems who has a bleeding problem from aspirin if it was used for what are signs of a heart attack. What goes??????

I don't take many meds, but I always used aspergum for any sore throats. If it persisted I'd do more. People have to use SOME common sense and know when to see a doctor. Maybe if it had been advertised more it would have sold more.

I too have been searching. Best thing for a sore throat. Maybe we should call the Bayer Co. and ask them to start making it. From the response here it should be worth it. With the resurgence of asprin as a solution to heart and other issues, the demand should be great.

I still have 3 pieces left but I don't want to use them (i know, silly). I think I am going to write to Bayer and tell them about this blog.

Hello all, I too would like some Aspergum! it worked way better than other cough drops or anything else on the market! That being said, in pharmacy school we have learned that children should NOT take aspirin due to a reaction called Reye's syndrome that can occur in children who take aspirin and have a certain virus. The sysdrome is extremely dangerous. This is actually the same reason they no longer market low dose aspirin as baby aspirin. Anyway....since the aspergum is gum and therefore favored by children they probably faced issues there. Another problem currently is the cold formula products that are now available OTC that contain multiple medications. Maybe they thought Aspergum with other cold medicines would lead to overdose? Just my thoughts on the issue.....either way its a shame because I really could use some right now....

Anyone who wants Aspergum to come back on the market should email Insight Pharmaceuticals begging them to bring it back. Maybe if they get enough people begging they will bring it back.....

I had a very sore throat this morning when I woke up; I could barely swallow. In desperation, I dug through my medicine chest and found the last box of Aspergum I bought years ago with five pieces left. Chewed one and had the same amazing results I have always had with this product. I was able to swallow, drink, eat--none of which would have been possible with any other sore throat relief product.

Someone ought to start a Facebook page to encourage Insight Pharmaceuticals to bring back Aspergum!

If there was only a few products that I'd wish to be available for my entire lifetime it would be Aspergum. There are few things that do what they say they are going to do as well as Aspergum. I'm just finding out that it was discontinued. It seems like it's nowhere to be found now. After much digging I was able to find a website that apparently you can order it but you have to go pick it up at the store in person, they don't do shipping. It's in MI which is too far to drive for me but If you live in that area of the country, it might be worth a trip. Follow this link and search aspergum.

I had no idea aspergum had been discontinued. I have a soar throat because of sinus drainage and I thought about aspergum to sooth the pain because I don't like the lozenges. I couldn't find it in CVS and, to my surprise, I couldn't find it online. I really wish it would be made available again unless it is dangerous to consume it.

Chew your favorite gum and add a low dose aspirin. chew slowly. Repeat if necessary.

Me too. I actually tucked away piece of well chewed wad under my tongue as far back as I could. This helped the horrible pain I had every morning.
