Adderall Xr Prescription Laws In Louisiana
UpdatedI was taking 2 Adderall XR 30 mg. (60 mg total) very morning for years. I called for a refill a few months back and when I picked up the script, it was for Adderall IR. I questioned why the XR wasn't prescribed and the know it all NP told me that Adderall XR was NEVER given in that dosage and I was the first to request it. She said it was illegal to prescribe 2 Adderall XR to be taken in one day. She said that by taking two XR's that I was continually getting the medicine in my system 24 hours. I told her that I took both at the same time in the morning and she just freaked. Now, I see no difference...30 mg. Instant release in the morning and another instant release in the afternoon vs 2 30 (60mg) mg time released once in the morning with 30 mg released and 30 mg later. She babbled some more about how addicting and dangerous this drug was. I told her I had been taking it for over 10 years and never abused it and I was well aware of the risk of taking this drug. I asked then to talk to my doctor who had been prescribing it to me for well over a year. He told me that Louisiana has prohibited Adderall XR to only one pill per day. That I would have to take the IR once in the morning and once in early afternoon. I get some Rollercoaster effects...plus I can tell my ADHD is worse then with the XR. Have any of you heard of this? I asked the pharmacy and they just looked at me and shook their head. Kinda throw up some flags the way they acted at CVS. I looked on the Internet and couldn't find anything about this. A doctor that practices in Louisiana even said she had not heard of this. I'm kinda confused...true or was the doctor lying for some reason. What could that reason be though? Any information about this will be appreciated.

My husband was just told the exact opposite by his doctor! He said they don't allow instant release in Louisiana and prescribed him the extended release.
Well, isn't that interesting? I wonder which doctor got their degree from Crackerjack University....or worse, did both? Seriously, I can't find info on this and I would like to know if its true or is my doc lying to me and why.
There are no laws in Louisiana regarding the prescribing of Extended Release or Immediate Release Adderall or any other ADHD Med when it comes to prescribing either alone or together.
Hi everyone. Ok, I need some help and advice. I live in Gonzales Louisiana and I have Medicaid, and I also go to a Methadone Clinic and I take my dose daily. The Methadone has changed my life cuz I was an opiate addict for 10 years, and I know everyone has their own opinions about Methadone, and I know that there are people that go to the Methadone clinic and still take other drugs too, which I don't agree with at all. I take Methadone daily cuz I didnt want to obsess over opiates anymore and my life was just so awful I couldnt keep living my life the way I was. I have been on Methadone for over 3 years now and I haven't touched any illegal drugs or substances, I no longer hang out with or associate with people that are on drugs, I'm a better mom, and an all around better person. I've always had so many goals, and I just never thought I would be able to achieve any of them. But since I've been on the Methadone I've actually gotten my GED, and now I want to go to college and get a career. Before I can go to college though I have to try and get a grant to pay for it. I am diagnosed with depression, anxiety, ptsd, and ADD, I am going to a psychiatrist now and also a therapist. My psychiatrist prescribes me Prozac 40mg, Clonazepam 1mg, and my counselor at the Methadone Clinic told my psychiatrist that I was a patient at the MD Clinic and she needed him to sign a paper saying he knows that I'm a Methadone patient. My first visit to see my psychiatrist I gave him a list of medicines I was on and I didn't include the Methadone, cuz I was told at the clinic that I started at not to tell people I was on Methadone cuz so many people look down on people that take Methadone. I knew I was supposed to tell if I were having surgery, but I didn't know I was supposed to tell my psychiatrist even.
I found out cuz when I told my counselor at the MD clinic I go to now that I am prescribed clonazepam, cuz the clinic gives drug panels to patients once a month, and I knew it would come up as benzos. That's when she told me I needed him to sign a paper that he knew I was a Methadone patient, cuz that's what the Methadone clinic requires since it could be dangerous to take benzos with Methadone. So he signed the paper, and the next time I saw him I asked him if he could prescribe me medicine for my ADD too, he literally became very unprofessional. He yelled at me, he kept stopping me when I was trying to talk to him, he looked at me and said I WILL NOT PRESCRIBE YOU ADDERALL, CUZ YOU DO NOT HAVE ADD. I've been abused before by 2 of my ex boyfriends and when my psychiatrist got loud with me the way he did I started to cry and he even yelled at me for crying. So obviously I don't want to ever go back to him again. I will never be able to talk to him or even look at him again, he scared me and put me down and judged me. He was judging me as an addict instead of looking at my actual diagnoses. Although he did prescribe me medicine for my depression and anxiety, yet wouldn't help me with medicine for my ADD, and I need the medicine to achieve my goals fully. I want to go to college etc. but there's no way I will be able to focus without the medicine. So the reason I'm on here is, I need recommendations, if anyone knows of a psychiatrist in Baton Rouge, Gonzales, or close to those areas that accept Medicaid and does not judge or look down on people, and is ok with patients that are prescribed to Methadone, and will prescribe Prozac, Clonazepam and Adderall or Vyvanse to their patient? If anyone knows of any psychiatrists that are what I described above, please let me know their name or names, and if possible, if you know their phone number and address? If all you know is the name or names I would appreciate that information too. Thank you so much. I will greatly appreciate any information.
Hi. I am also on methadone in Oregon. There's a website called pro publica and you can find doctors that prescribe certain drugs that take medicare .
Re: Dianel (# 1)
Not true, I was just changed to IR today from XR, now my problem is with this pharmacist that think they are (Gods) for lack of better wording, it's viewed as a completely different prescription, she says I can't fill until Thursday but they will be closed so I can come Friday. I'm calling my insurance.
