Hello All: Eight years ago I had a gastric bypass losing from 294# to 117# (too low for a 61 yr. old female). Currently 145# & feel good from weight standpoint. I have had many adversities from the bypass with 4 subsequent small bowel resections. I cannot absorb generic meds. This leads me to excess costs on all of my meds. I was changed from brand Lexapro to escitalopram (generic) in June and by Sept., I was suicidal and required intensive treatment until I could get the brand Lexapro. My insurance (Medicare Advantage Plan) is a nightmare to cover any of the brand named meds even when my Psychiatrist states Brand medically necessary. or patch, my son can not take a pill to save his life. HELP ## there is no intuniv in patch or liquid but you can try to give it to him with ice cream. I make a little ball of ice cream and put the pill inside. We have a championship to see who can swallow the ball faster without chewing it - my son loves to win - and loves this. It has been working fine and he could not swallow anything. good luck! ## Kika is correct and her idea is very good, there is nothing wrong with putting the pill in something else to help him swallow it, though very high fat foods should be avoided. I am 32 years old I was taking short acting adderall, my new job does drug panels and I did not disclose I have ADD. My Dr. said Straterra does come back positive for amphetamines so that is out. He recommends Intuniv but I have read it does not work, makes people sleepy and depressed. Please post your experience with this drug. Will it allow me to focus? Will I be sleepy and depressed? well, I went off Mallinckrodt after being back on that for awhile at 80 mg and I had to go on the hunt again. Well there is a brand called Zenzedi that has the same 10 mg tablet as wilshire and i find those to last a little longer... not as much mentally hardcore in the focus area but at least the urge to pig out hits every 3.5-4 hours vs 2... They all beat the rest away (vyvanse, dex spansule, adderall, ritalin....) Now they need to go to a higher dose because 180-270 pills depending on the brand per month is nuts. And I respect that long acting generation and that it helps but don't think all of us on them are crackheads. I am on random drug testing for probation and got a letter in the mail from my p.o saying I failed for amphetamines on the 13th of October. I was sick, and not working on the 11th or 12th. I took some OTC medication for my cold. I took some Allegra D and some Day Quil. Will this cause a false positive? How do I go about disputing this. I can't loose my job for going to jail, and certainly am not getting locked up for doing s drug I never would do, nor know where to even find it. I was dxed with adult ADD 8 yrs ago--and precribed mallinckrodt 5 mg tablets IR--My daughter also has it and unluckily ended up with Bar-now Teva's dexedrine--2 yrs ago--I could not longer get Mallinckodt IR tablets and was put on Barr--hated them--now that teva has taken over--Im having a terrible time. I took a dose of methamphetamine 3 weeks ago. I hadn't taken any since last year. Will it show up on a hair follicle drug test? ## A hair drug test is meant to show consistent use over time. A 1.5 inch sample, cut at the scalp line, will go back 90 days. In your case it all depends on how much you took in. The worst. Don't get it filled ## 100% agreed!!!! I have been on Adderall generic IR since January 2014. Always filled @ CVS. All previous scripts were manufactured by TEVA. (Large football shaped, orange, sweet tasting & 30mg.) They worked great!!!! Until this past Wednesday (Aug 19th, 2014) I went to pick up my script as usual and didn't think anything of it until the next morning when I had to take one. It wasn't the same shape or taste. I have been on this medicine for a year or more. At first it was great, I stayed focus, filled with energy and lost a lot of weight. As time went by the effects I listed wore off and now, I just felt very tired. I gradually weaned myself off, but now I fine I am emotional, weepy, and hungry all the time. CAN YOU TAKE BOTH OF THESE MEDS? WHAT ARE REACTIONS IF ANY? ## I'm not sure why you are on one medication (Xanax) that depresses your system, and another (Adderall) that is a stimulant. Perhaps the Adderall is to help you with ADHD? That is typically the only reason one takes Adderall...if they have a focusing deficit and need the mediciine to concentrate. Some people who have ADD are very wired and excitable so doctors put them on things like Clonodine, (but usually not Xanax), to help calm them down. My 23-yr old daughter has been on Adderall for eight years, with the prescription covered all that time by the same insurance/HMO provider. This month, her doctor (or perhaps the pharmacist) switched her to a new "generic" for Adderall - "Dextroamp Amphet" - and the insurance provider has written us to say they won't cover it. Seriously? I was just recently hospitalized for MRSA. Before I was admitted my family dr prescribed Sulfmeth-Trimeth sub for Bactrim to help keep the MRSA from spreading but by then i had waited to long cause only three days later i was admitted because the infection got worse. To make a long story short about a month later my job did its usual hair follicle drug screening which is done every couple months and i tested positive for Methamphetamines. I took methamphetamine late Sunday night around 11:30-11:45 pm. I have a mouth swab on Wednesday at 10:30 am. I only did a little bit, and don't know the last time I even did it. Hi! I'm new to this forum, but not really new to mental health. I've struggled with OCD, depression, and anxiety my whole life and have taken many different meds for them in my 29 years. But this post isn't about me. It's about my boyfriend. We moved in together in March of this year. I knew he frequently had mood swings, but I wasn't sure why. Has anyone who has taken Adderall IR for more than five years (or at anytime) experienced a severe skin ulcer? ## No I have taken it off and on since 2005, BUT different generics use different fillers so maybe you have an allergy? ## It is not listed by the FDA as a known side effect of taking Adderall, the typical ones include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, mood changes, weight loss, and anorexia. Shire US discontinued the mfg of DextroStat, at the end of the year 2007. Another bought out the license to produce DextroStat, but, it was also discontinued by Phys Total Care at the end of 2008, only available in 2008 in 5 mg, as the 10 mg was discontinued. I take 6 to 10 meds daily for pain and antidepressants, allergies, insulin, sudifed, ansanzidy, sleep meds, some others I can not spell, nyquil, and nasal spray. I have a bottle of 90 Sandoz Adderall that I don't wan't. It's giving me headaches. I know the pharmacy won't take it back. How do I properly dispose of it without harming the environment? ## HI, Jane! You can take it to your pharmacy for disposal, that's usually one of the things they do. The other option recommended by the FDA actually isn't great for the environment, they instruct you to mix it in with some undesirable substance, such as used cat litter or coffee grounds, place it into a sealed container and dispose of it in the trash. Are these suppose to have the beads inside them or is it powder form? Theyre orange 30mg capsuls with R-3061 on them. Took one and immediately fell asleep? ## There doesn't appear to be any photos of this pill online, however, I did come across posts from others stating that this particular capsule imprinted with "R 3061" does in fact have beads. I do find it odd how it put you sleep, considering that one of the side effects of this drug is insomnia.
