A Doctor That Will Prescribe Xanax In Or Around Nashville Tn
UpdatedI have been having anxiety attacks for years and had mistaken it for severe depression. After having my third child they started to become out of control. I've seen a few doctor's that all seem to want to try a large combination of meds and diagnose me with a number of things... one doctor (that no longer is in this state) prescribed 1mg xanax and I felt as if I could get on my knees and cry out thank you. I felt cured. Then he left state and another doctor put me on ativan 1mg 2x a day and it didn't kick in until after the damage of the attack was done and after me freaking out or pulling over on road to cry... then it would last way longer and I felt a bit like a zombie where the xanax would kick in fast, take care of the issue and leave soon after. Too many ppl abuse the drug and make it hard for ones that find it as a true life saver. Where can I find a doctor in or around nashville tn that is comfortable prescribing xanax 1mg for anxiety attacks?
If you suffer from anxiety and need a Benzodiazepine class medication (like Xanax), usually your best bet is to see a psychiatrist rather than a regular medical doctor. Reason being is that they are better trained in the types of medications that handle these problems and can also help you treat the underlying cause of your anxiety or depression (for long term relief), as opposed to temporarily covering up the feelings and emotions with medication. Many general physicians are also reluctant to prescribe controlled substances due to abuse and the heavy regulations that they have to abide by from the government.
If you do opt to see a regular medical doctor, some advice I can give you is to not specifically ask for any given medication right off the bat. Make sure to transfer or take a copy of all your medical records with you. Then, the best approach in my opinion is to discuss what has and hasn't worked for you in the past. Most doctors will take it under consideration if you approach them in this manner. I don't think a lot of patients get the medications they hope for, due to how up front and "needy" they come off as to doctors. I hope this makes sense.
I hope this info helps and wish you the best of luck in finding the right care!
I am sorry I was talking about psych doctors not just primary care :-) and the last one gave an allergy med that just made my body tired n my mind still anxious. Also gained 20lbs in a month and a half.
You know David while your advice is prudent unless a state REQUIRES this, you must be aware that most Psychiatrists do not accept Insurance, and a $30 specialist visit can cost $500, at least in my area, If your Doctor does not feel comfortable in prescribing Xanax and suggests a referral, especially in today's pill climate I can understand it, but please, your advice is not again prudent for all areas in the U.S. I liked my Psychiatrist who prescribed Xanax yet he offered no special insight or instructions that a regular M.D. couldn't provide. Family doctors prescribe the majority of anti depressants and have limited knowledge in that area as well? Many people are hurting, and it seems like seeing a Psychiatrist can be much more difficult than you would even know. Perhaps with Obamacare everything will be wonderful, but for now we have a broken system, and a Government making it harder to obtain care.
Hi Kris, from everything i've heard, xanax is a horrible thing to try to withdraw from. Maybe consider Klonipin or Valium. I have taken xanax and know it works well but I would hate to be dependent on it.
whats his #
yeah I live in Ardmore on the Al/Tn stateline, and I started a thread exactrly like this but havent got any responses,if anybody knows anyone from nashville to Huntsville please let us know, If you feel like driving theres a doc in athens that used to give me 4 tablets per day, I cant go to him anymore
How did this forum go from Nashville to all these other damn states!?? I'm looking for a doc for the husband but wow!!!
Klonopin is just as bad as far as withdrawal goes, believe me I have been there. I am currently taking xanex for anxiety and fully understand how It can and will be a life saver for people like us. The truth is all benzo's can result in serious withdrawal symptoms but for people who have major anxiety attacks on a regular basis, In my opinion it is best to keep your anxiety and your life in order through a benzo regement. If you have not had to take benzo's for anxiety and your anxiety is controllable more often than not I would highly recommend finding another way to control your anxiety. Benzo's should be a last resort if nothing else has seemed to work.

Hi Blake, this is Amanda. Sorry I took so long. I came off 170mgs methadone daily and four 1mg xanax daily and i am currently taking only 20mg suboxone daily. I had a hard time letting go but anyways i just checked my email and i know a doctor in shelbyville tn who gives xanax and klonopin. His name is alex fider and he used to prescribe me four 1mg xanax daily and 2mg klonopin at bedtime. Every time you go he will increase your dosage it just takes time to get the dose that is right for you and dr. fider is understanding and he prescribes just about anything you want, he's very nice. Best of luck! if you need anymore info let me know. I like to help others who are in need and i consider anyone who is searching here to be in need and if anyone else needs my help finding a doctor in their area I can help by searching online. I have time to spare since i'm unable to work so i can help others like this.

You can always take a drive to a dependable pharmacy in Mexico? I have never had a Doctor that listened to me more than the guy I just lost. Yet he was nutty, rather talk about vintage Disney films than doctoring. He actually spent up to two hours with me, unheard of today. I do feel bad for you as some Doctors will give stuff that makes you sicker. And if you are in a withdrawal situation like I was, you can have a stroke or worse yet die. I am very aware that Xanax is currently abused by every drug addict, especially those still taking Opioids. This is now making it almost impossible for those of us who need this medicine. Also once you reach 60 or above, doctors are trained not to prescribe for fear of liability. I am amazed I have had such limited problems obtaining this medicine. The good times will end sooner than later. What part of the Country do you live in?
Re: Ally (# 7)
I don’t know it seems like OP doesn't want to see a psychiatrist, lots of people are complaining psychiatrist don't take insurance, we've got people telling her not to take benzos because they’re bad withdrawals but take these other benzos instead.
This whole thread is a s*** show honestly, and the mod who gave OP advice really said all that needs to be said
Re: Lisa12 (# 4)
Sweetie those other medications you suggested are benzos as well, the withdrawal would be extremely similar. The only difference is Valium stay in your system longer than Xanax so the withdrawal probably wouldn’t hit as quickly.
Your advice doesn't make sense. They’re all the same medication that would have the same withdrawals
Re: Eddy (# 3)
I don’t know where you live but most psychiatrists where I live accept insurance.
I don’t think I would see a psychiatrist who doesn’t accept insurance because I would suspect there’s a reason insurance will not contract with them, and that’s kind of terrifying.
Just because you don’t like what he had to say doesn’t mean he’s wrong. And just because there’s no law that says a PCP can’t prescribe these things that doesn’t mean they have to. I have to drive to another state to get Adderall or alprazolam because we don’t have enough psychiatrists where I live.
My provider closed for about six months a couple years ago after her boss died from Covid, it took them a little bit but she reopened her own practice.
She told me she was going to so I didn’t want to try to find someone new when I already had to drive to another state to see someone so my PCP handled the prescriptions until I was able to see her again.
And yeah, it sucks, I’ve had ADHD for 20 years and I really suffered when I couldn’t get that medication because none of the psychiatrist around here took state insurance.
I had a couple PCP‘s who felt comfortable giving it to me because they could see I had already been prescribed it.
So it’s not that they can’t, it’s just that they don’t like. So if they won’t they won’t, you can’t force them to
You have to see a psychiatrist, most PCPs are not comfort Describing these medication‘s and I don’t even know if they are legally allowed to in the southern states.
Y'all seem to have less freedom down there than what I'm used to up in New England.
Have you tried to psychiatrist I suspect you’ll have a hard time finding a PCP who will do it. And you may have to agree to drug tests and pill counts, but it’s worth it.
Re: Boxstar (# 78)
Well I must say! It’s just a never ending vicious cycle! I lost my brother/father all within 3 months. I’m still in shock! My psychiatrist thinks it’s ok for me to feel this way! Nope, can’t put me back on all the meds that worked for me. Said it was an opioid crisis! Well then close the damn borders! That’s were all the Fentanyl comes in! At this point I’m just gonna say screw the real doctors! It’s less hassle! I’m gonna lose my job anyways so wtf do I care! Is it better to live a life in depression/pain all their your entire life or have some quality of life before you die? I even thought about moving to Canada to sign up for their Maid program! Why? b/c I have nothing left in this world! I still have a disabled mother but she threw me out of the house at 16.5 & now she wants me to help her! Why? She’s giving all the inheritance to her granddaughter & her children! My brothers who I helped save his life years ago while in a coma! I should of just walked away b/c now they are all hanging up on me! The doctors know what’s going on, yet they just have their eyes closed. I’m done! If I don't get the help I need I will be signing up for the maid program!
Re: Pat (# 46)
Have you tried pain management doctors or a pain clinic? What about a neurologist or spine surgeon?
Re: amanda (# 18)

Re: EDDY (# 82)
I worked all my life’ therefore I have excellent insurance’ but what good is it if you can’t find a Dr. that listens to
You. It actually is way more b/c of other underlying health conditions. The thing I’m trying to convey is ‘ what good is life if it’s not Quality of Life? I know all about the zanax side effects’ but I’was t worried b/c the meds worked for me. They may work differently on others’ so what works for me may not work for others. As far as find another Dr.’ The MHC in the US is horrible! It’s all about $$$ ‘ & pushing the next drug! Im not going to stay with him much longer’ I’m just trying to get myself out of the house & somewhat functioning b/f I can change. I am nowhere near that esp after losing 2 of my immediate family 3 mths ago. I wish you al the best!
Re: Boxstar (# 81)
How did you spend 1.2 million dollars on this drug cocktail is what I want to know? We have heard this same story from countless others, especially in the last few years. Can you go to a different provider, your Doctor sounds terrible. I predict they are going to ban Benzodiazepines next. I used to have a whole bunch of spare medicine, still have quite a bit and my family Doctor still prescribes them for me. I hate that some Doctors & Psychiatrists harm their patients by misdiagnosing and prescribing medicines that can make you worse. Xanax however is not a cure and it can lead to memory loss & worse, especially as we age
