A Board For Those Who Are Struggling With Or Have Overcome Addiction

Hi, my name is Ashley. I wanted to just make a place where fellow people who are either struggling with addiction or who are struggling to maintain sobriety to just come and tell their stories, vent or ask for advice. If you are going to come here to judge, be inconsiderate or just plain rude and mean. Take your Debbie downer butt somewhere else. I want this to be a place where we can help each other heal. From one addict to another. So please tell your story, ask advice or just talk
Cuz lets face it talking to someone who can relate helps to heal! I went for two years before realizing I wasn't the only one going through opiate addiction and have been clean for three months. And one more thing PLEASE DO NOT GIVE MEDICAL ADVICE UNLESS YOU ARE A DOCTOR SPECIFICALLY TRAINED IN TREATING ADDICTION. If you want to share your story and help others through this struggle please do!
Thank you guys in advance,
Ash:)

Ash's story~~~~
I had never had a drug problem before so I didn't realize what happened to me until it was too late. My boyfriend introduced me to Opana almost three years ago and even though I'm clean now I recognize I'm still an addict. I was in denial for a looooong time and that made asking for help impossible ( I didn't need help because I didn't have a problem ....right). Anywho, I lost not one but TWO homes because of our extreme habits. I ended up losing custody of my children and still didn't get clean until two months after they were taken from my custody. Now to look at us you would have had no idea I was an addict; nice home, cars, kids had anything and everything. Every addict isn't the definition of some homeless Guy in an alley exchanging sexual favors for dope but my addiction destroyed my life, family and credit ... on the positive note my children should be home by the summer, I have been clean for over three months (thanks to suboxone) and am looking forward to starting college in the summer. It's easy to fall down and let our addiction destroy everything around us and although its hard as HELL to build your life and family back up it is worth UT. You may feel down or think it's too hard to rebuild but my God is it worth it. You just have to take that first step and decide that you have control over yourself. Easier said then done, but take it one day at a time and every day you start feeling a little bit better. Good luck to everyone and keep me in your prayers too please!
