6 Mos On, Doctor Beginning To Taper Me Down Scared!

I am 47 yrs old. My whole story would take forever..so I will try to sum it up. I used drugs beginning at age 14, in my 30's I switched to rx only meds and thought it was ok cause I had a script. When I lost my job and insurance I had to go off. I could not stand the withdrawl and lack of energy. So I found ways. Something personal and profond happened to me in April/May of last year, my bottom, my wake-up call. Found a great doctor with a caring staff, it was a rough first couple mos. But I feel like I'm back, I'm back in my life. I would never judge anyone. And I try and make it a point to surround my self with positive, non judgemental people. I somehow befriend younger people 25 and up. All I wanted to do was try and get through to just one of them with my story so that they get sober 30yrs before I did. And I think I have gotten through to at least one :) that's a gift

What medication(s) are you tapering off of?

Have you considered regular addiction treatment, such as that done with Suboxone?

There are several issues that you do have to deal with, when trying to beat something like this, such as the mental issues, as well as the physical withdrawals.

so I told my story and did not get to the scared part. It does scare me. I tried going off myself last month without asking doctor, I guess I wanted to see how bad withdraw would be. It was not as bad as some drugs, but it was different and scary. The first 2 nights no sleep, by day 3 I was hearing and seeing things that were not there. Day 5 I went back on and still felt really crappy for 3 or 4 days. Of course my doctor and staff try and reassure me they will taper me off and for the first week I am completely off I will get a rx for anxiety.I wondered if there is anyone whos been on it for years???Or anyone similar to me who is now off and how it went. Sorry I am long winded....
