5HTP seems to work really well for anxiety. Are you thinking about trying it out? I have personally used 5HTP in combination with St. John's Wort for depression and anxiety and had excellent results from it. At the time I was taking about 100-150mg of 5HTP + 900mg of St. John's Worth, all split into 3 doses throughout the day.

Altho I personally haven't experienced any problems while taking it or coming off of it, I recommend taking a look at the link below to view more info on 5HTP as it can effect each individual differently:
