34 On Topamax For 7 Years No Issue Now Allergic ???
Updated34 on topamax for severe migraines 100mg 1 a day for 7 years. I've had of course just the tingling nothing else ... Well at the beginning dr said I might lose weight I did about 20 but nothing else... Its been the best for migraines now all a sudden my abdomen hurts bad Chest pains.. Fevers non stop chills all time... I'm freezing...My fingertips are turning blue ....my eyes are burning and feels As if pins are poking them.. So after 7 years I'm pretty upset it knowing what's going on and of course realizing more tests and of course Meds that most likely wont work... Anyone else had this issue ??? I have also recently had a kidney infection .. I know with topamax you must watch your fluid intake or it can cause stones.. So I'm very aware of te complications with the drug but has anyone had same issues to where they were ok right after being off or was there problems ??

Hi, Brooke! Sorry about the problems that you're having.
Those actually aren't symptoms of an allergy, though. Those symptoms could happen if you were having a bad reaction to something, but they don't fit the typical allergic reaction criteria.
Our bodies always change as we age, so it's definitely possible to suddenly develop a bad reaction to a medication that we've never had a problem with before.
However, those sound more like cardiac symptoms, as if something is affecting your heart.
Have you contacted your doctor? The blue fingertips is especially concerning, along with the chest pain.
I have had the same experience with Topamax -- blue fingertips (especially when it's cold), tingling in my hands and feet, headaches, etc, I have been on Topamax for four years without any problems, but now all these issues have appeared. The latest is a cataract in my left eye. If you research any of these issues, they are not uncommon among Topamax users. I thought memory and weight loss were all I had to contend with, but I was mistaken. I take 100mg 2x day for seizures. Obviously I am trying to find a replacement (also take Keppra and Lamic). Cataract surgery is scheduled for October 16th. I am an active female, 47 years of age and I will no longer have the ability to read out of my left eye and distance cannot be guaranteed to be the same (I was 20/20 a few months ago). This drug seriously needs to be evaluated by the FDA.
