25 Mg Fentanyl Patch

I am currently wearing the Fentanyl 25 patch. I have had some (4) bad experiences this month alone. Exerting myself - gardening, carrying groceries, lifting anything; I become short of breath, extremely rapid heart rate and my legs and upper body become very weak. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this. I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. To be fair, I had awful leg weakness before I started taking or using anything. I don't know what to do. I took an OxyContin (30) mg and had an even worse experience than mentioned above. (Shortness of breath & rapid heart beat went on longer). I have ruptured disks and extreme leg pain that's why I started pain med. I hope someone can help me.

Hello, KathyB! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the experiences you had.

But yes, if you were exerting yourself, then those symptoms can occur. Anytime your body temperature is raised, you can absorb more of the Fentanyl than you should, which basically results in renewed side effects and/or possibly overdose. This is a pain patch that you really need to be careful with.

When I tried it, years ago while on pain management, I was advised to avoid hot baths, showers, physical exertion and etc. while wearing the patch.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?
