2017 Adderall Not Working (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

I've noticed that the last three years in a row around this time either at the Adderall generic Sandoz brand is on backorder or suddenly the pills don't have the same affect. So in essence the pharmacy and drug manufacturers I getting paid while patients suffer without the proper medication. Has anyone else had this happen this month? I am taking the Adderall generic 30 milligrams twice a day I feel like I haven't taken anything.

The 20 nor the 30mg are working for me. Aurobindo made me a nut and Teva is 80% diluted...I am about to take a drug panel and see if it's in my system. They are supposed to be 80% of brand name...am I right?

SANDOZ is HORRIBLE! It makes me binge eat, it makes me tired--but my eyes bounce--I feel an incessant need to sleep. It's like these junkie factories are playing a joke on us.

Here is how it works: when a generic company decides it would like to supply a brand new medication, they conduct studies on a —-very small—group of people.

(Poor external validity)

The specific results of these tests are not made available to the public, only to the FDA.

The FDA must take “the word” of the generic company in terms of the validity of their testing

Once a generic company is approved, oversight by the FDA to ensure bioequivalency is very rare

I find this profoundly disturbing

I started getting brand after generic didn't provide any help but found the brand is no different if not worse.

Dave (# 404) --

Hi there. I am in the same boat as everyone else. It's so frustrating to go through this every month. I have tried just about every generic and here's the deal....
I have found that Corepharma and Sandoz brands to work well with little to no side effects. Sandoz is hard to find and Corepharma is in fact a done deal... no longer making it. Some places still have inventory left.

During the past three months I have had the following:
July - Teva 20mg IR ( I found this to be very weak and found myself yawning )
August - Corepharma 20mg IR (Again, this manufacturer works well for me and does exactly what it should do...smooth, optimal focus, no side effects)

**September - Aurobindo 20mg IR ( This was the ONLY thing available at most places so I said screw it and gave it shot. Despite what most have said, I was PLEASANTLY surprised with the results. I would actually say it's better than Corepharma in terms of optimal focus, positive mood etc.. )

I would rate them like so:

1. Aurobindo
2. Corepharma
3. Sandoz
4. Teva

I have NOT tried Mallinckrodt Generic but that seems to have the most consistent BAD, TERRIBLE feedback so I hope the notes above help you out.

I will also say that altering the dosage 10mg vs 15mg vs 20mg does make a difference from brand to brand in terms of how effective it is.

Good luck and keep us posted on your findings!

I think any generic doesn’t work the same! I got generic lexapro, had a allergic reaction bad! They need to leave the medicines alone.

Re: Mark (# 43) Expand Referenced Message

Another sad fact is the following:

1. The FDA standards for approving a generic drug from my firm are very weak and questionable.

The analyses (which are required in a new application for generic) are conducted by the pharmaceutical company on a "very small" group of people, with profoundly low internal and external validity. The studies are, invariably, not double blind.

The results are only shared with the FDA and are "confidential" to the public.

Why not make the results public?

2. The FDA simply does not have the resources to travel all over the world, especially Third World countries, to inspect manufacturing practices and quality control, ensuring that plus or minus 20% bioequivalence to the brand and other factors they evaluate are acceptable.

YES. I noticed that it seems like around January the meds get weak and then by spring they are back to original strength. I am so glad to see I was not the only one that noticed this.

Yes. It doesn’t work, and mine taste sweet like it has sugar in it. No doubt I got sugar pills. Might as well take nothing at all.

Crazythat (#55) & Jackie (#56) --

Thank you for reading my rant and responding. I apologize for not getting back here in a while. My life has been a rollercoaster! I would just like to add that it really PISSES ME OFF when any sort of healthcare "professional" says anything along the lines of "the generic medication is the same as the brand". NO. Sometimes they will even try to tell you that the fillers do not make any difference! What the hell kind of practice is this? If it is not the same it's not the same. Period! I happen to have had some genetic testing done recently and found I am CYP2D6 deficient which basically means I am a poor metabolizer for most all psychotropic drugs and I do not even metabolize pro drugs at all. Meaning... "fillers" or... MOST OF THE INGREDIENTS in a pill will strongly affect me. My god how is this legal???

Re: Jackie (# 56) Expand Referenced Message

I agree a million times with your post! I too am 43, helped by brand Adderall and prescription opiates, never felt an ounce of "energy" or "euphoria", just help with ADHD and pain! No escalating doses, negative consequences on my life, "hyperalgesia" or any of the crap the mainstream media has been pushing the last few years to force doctors to switch patients from DIRT CHEAP opiates (which, aside from constipation, are harmless to the body providing one isn't unnecessarily yanked off them...SSRIs cause dependency and withdrawal too, and no one sees those on antidepressants being called "junkies" in part because they still give profit to Big Pharma) to more expensive, profit-making yet dangerous drugs like biologics which decimate your immune system (and that's the feature, not the bug!) and marijuana, which was the "medically incorrect" demon a decade ago that opiates have become now! It's no coincidence why: now that marijuana is legal in many states, it is now a profitable venture, so it's being (ridiculously) touted as a cure-all for severe pain to replace opiates!

Pot makes me non-functional, makes my ADHD symptoms a million times worse, and Does nothing for pain. I won't go near the stuff and all I hear is "try another kind", "try a different ratio", "try vaping/edibles/tinctures" blah blah blah. I hate the stuff but recognize that everyone's body is different. If only the mainstream media didn't pull the snow job that "opiates don't really kill pain" (people are so naive these days) in cahoots with Big Pharma, the FDA, and the DEA to threaten doctors who don't buy in to their unscientific BS that contradicts evidence from hundreds of years of medicine.

As for Adderall, you are 100 percent right and the two situations are linked. There are several patents on the web that speak of "additives to reduce the abusability of stimulants and other scheduled drugs". They aren't just talking about delayed release here. I believe this, combined with DEA/FDA shenanigans (lowering amount of amphetamine or precursors released to pharmaceutical manufacturers/not inspecting the poor practices of pharmaceutical manufacturers in India and China) and Big Pharma push to get people off patent-expired Adderall and onto the extended release new patent holders which cause tons of side effects) have created a perfect storm. And also the perfect out--just call anyone who complains a "conspiracy theorist" or a "junkie"!

Remember, the vast majority of people are authoritarian followers who believe EVERYTHING they are told while being alienated from their own perceptions. Those like us don't, so don't let them make you doubt your own body.

The following is My personal experience only:

I'm in my third year now taking Adderall for Adult ADD Inattentive. I have never taken Brand or XR, only 20mg IR or 30mg IR generic Mixed Amphetamine Salts. The Manufacturers I've used include Teva, CorePharma, Aurobindo, Sandoz, Actavis, Mallinkrodt...basically all of them. Some better results than others, but ALL of them had one common thread. And that is...of the 30 days in a month, all of the generic Adderalls, for me, will lose efficacy as the month goes on. By the 15th of the month, I feel like I'm taking a sugar pill and curiously, I notice that the texture of the tablet is deteriorating from firm and sleek to chalky and crumbly. Every month....same thing. I spend many hours in my car for work, and I always have my medications in a black attaché case with me. I began to notice how much high heat my meds were being exposed to. On One unusually, scorching hot day recently, as I was fishing out pills from the bottle, a few of the Aurobindo generic 30mg IR tablets had actually crumbled so much, they were now at the bottom in tiny pieces and fine dust. What? That night, on a whim, I took all my meds out of my briefcase and put them in the fridge on a low cooling setting and left them there overnight. The next morning, all of the remaining Aurobindo tablets were sleek and shiny again and doses from that day forward always "work"...almost like they did in the early days. My conclusion is:
If subjected to high temperatures or direct sunlight for an extended period of time, the active ingredients in generic Adderall IR, (L-Amp and D-Amp), will lose their efficacy to the point that it does feel like I'm taking a sugar pill every dose from middle of the month until next fill date. I now put my Adderall (from any manufacturer) in the fridge every night and today it is "working" much, much better. Almost like the early days.

This is my personal experience only. I have no scientific evidence or any proof that my conclusions will affect others taking this medication in a similar manner.

Which brand do you have now? Is it Auribundo?
I have found the following to be effective in the folllowing order by the best to worst. Sandoz round all around, Corpharma, Teva and Barr. Auribundo is in my opinion counterfeit.

Grab up what they got left of that Corepharma cuz they just discontinued. That's leftover stock from the good stuff!

Re: James (# 23) Expand Referenced Message

You're right. There is no brand name IR Adderall as of now. Teva makes an "authorized generic" of IR Adderall, but its just the regular Teva sugary pills which do absolutely nothing for me.
Brand name XR however does exist, and it is manufactured by Shire.

Re: Shim (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

You are 100% correct! There is NO medicinal value. Period. It really is a crime! Who else in America can set up a billion dollar industry giving sick people "supposed" medicine, yet all they really have in their bag are Smarty candies in a medicine bottle?

A few weeks ago my CVS in NYC had it on back order. I got prescription filled for 20mg IR TEVA mfg and working better than the Coerpharma.

I personally have always found Sandoz as having a very weak product… Their Adderall IR generic.
Teva, which was horrific for the last six months, has improved within the last 2 to 3 months in terms of efficacy and potency

This end of 2017 and BEGINING of this 2018 I've been taking the Sandoz brand generic for Adderall 20's and I really noticed a sudden change I'm usually a Teva brand user, ones that taste like a Bayer aspirin sorta, those are octigon shaped, are my favorite brand...I went and got Sandoz brand and they're next to taking nothing... pharmacy said they take what they get...well my pharmacist usually orders me the Teva brand this time he wasn't there someone else told me we take what we get...next appointment I'm requesting the Teva brand Sandoz isn't anything what it's cracked up to be...ppl are all different, but not about this situation...when you need something for your ailments you'd like them to work for you...!

Damn I really hate to hear that. I stopped buying Teva brand at Walgreens due to the fact they do not work. This month turned out the pharmacy ordered Sandoz. I hate it. I hope they work is all I can say. I'm tired of this crap myself. It's not right.
