2017 Adderall Not Working (Page 3) (Top voted first)

I've noticed that the last three years in a row around this time either at the Adderall generic Sandoz brand is on backorder or suddenly the pills don't have the same affect. So in essence the pharmacy and drug manufacturers I getting paid while patients suffer without the proper medication. Has anyone else had this happen this month? I am taking the Adderall generic 30 milligrams twice a day I feel like I haven't taken anything.

I get 20 mg Teva from Walgreens and this month I have been falling asleep at my desk. It’s bad. I go to pain management for spine issues and they give me U/A's all the time. Tomorrow I am going to ask him specifically about my Adderall levels & then next time I go. After this I will probably check the Aurobindo because I am convinced they’re totally fake. I have some left over from months ago from Rite Aid that I stopped taking because they made me feel like s***. I’ll let you know how my drug panels look.

I’m anxious to see what it says! But tbh, I used to go to a doctor that prescribed a multitude of controlled substances and had that drug testing contract set up with any controlled substance users. I was only taking Adderall. I took one 10mg pill, went to see him and did the test. And unbelievably, there was NO Adderall appearing on my test! I was like I just took it when I left my house an hour ago! I had to produce the bottle with the amount of appropriate pills left, etc. Fortunately, he believed me when I explained I take my medicine as prescribed! I have/had no explanation as to why nothing came up, NONE. But what I’m trying to say is, I wish there was a way to actually test the pills!

There used to be a place you could send them for testing, back when mdma pills were popular in clubs. Went yesterday and Tevas from a couple months ago are fine. I get tested again next week and will check the s***ty Aurobindo's next. I am not sure how reliable their tests are though. I have a cannabis card and according to my levels he says I am just at the point of getting “high”. I don’t know what he means since I blaze all the time & it’s dispensary stuff, but he said my Adderall levels are the same as the prior tests. I will update you next week.

TLT - Did you by chance get the results from your drug panel? I wish there was a way to test these take pills, but surely a drug panel would reveal the truth. Please let us know the results. Thanks!

Unfortunately, there's no way for the doctor to know for sure that you're not just trying to get more pills to sell or abuse. When I've had issues with bad generics in the past, my doctor would count how many pills i had left and flush them all down the toilet. Only then would he write a fresh prescription.

Have you tried other IR generics at all? Specifically Mylan, Mallinckrodt, or Actavis?

I've only ever taken generic Corepharm, Teva Barr (when it was one company) and Sandoz. Sandoz has been my preferred - smoother on and off than Corepharm, longer lasting. Corepharm also gave me heart palpitations while Sandoz did not. Don't even get me started on the Teva Barr!

But apparently, Sandoz is being discontinued, so. :/

I certainly have!! I can take 3-20 mgs tablets & cant really tell I’ve taken anything! All I do have is lots of anxiety! So Frustrating!!

I have noticed the same thing. I am on 30mg 2x per day. Last year, I thought 20mg wasn't working anymore and she boosted my dose to 30. But it doesn't work at al like it used to. I had an old 10 mg non- extended release version and took it. It worked better than the 30 mg.

- Exactly bottle label: D-Amphetetamine Salt Com ER (XR) 30 mg C
- Generic equivalent of Adderall 30 XR mg
- Mfg Prasco
- Capsule is orange and white and says M Amphet salts.

ALL AMPHETAMINE CLASS STIMULANTS effects are extremely user-anticipation-controlled. I have seen this in all classes of these drugs prescribed and elicit. A change in brand, pill shape, generic can cause a deep mistrust or anticipation that it will not be as effective ...this plays out in reality. It is known as an anti-placebo effect.

Additionally -your tolerance level is going up ...you are addicted ...to get the "feeling" you got when you first began using you require a higher dose. This is true for ALL drugs of this class ...that is not to say you need more for the focusing ability it brings but you need it for the emotional boost and metabolic stimulation (zest/energy) you enjoyed at the beginning. I HAVE OVER 30 YEARS of daily use experience from which I am speaking. I take Dexedrine & wish Desoxyn was permitted to be prescribed in Canada as it is in the USA -politics is the cause.

To the person who said they fall asleep: I take 10 -5mg fast release (empty stomach only or they have no effect) in one go -I can go back to sleep for 6 or 8 hours ...SPLENDID DREAMS and wake up marvellously refreshed. I have even used Dexedrine as a sleeping aid because they stop whatever hypes me up.

ABOUT SHORTAGES: drug manufacturers are known to stop supply of certain drugs until they get some new legislation about this or that -or get another green-lit ...Big Pharma are writing the laws and prescribing protocols. Always remember -corporate medicine/pharmaceuticals are drug dealers plain and simple. You are addicted. Once you realize that you can navigate accordingly. Addiction is not a bad thing ...you can control that ...and after all ...AIR is addictive...try going without it for a while.

I am amazed to find that CVS is stocking Corepharma product again. Hallelujah! I agree with your statement about giving up on the treatment. I am working with my psych now to change diagnosis and treatment because I grew to detest Adderall generics. Lack of motivation, no moments of joy, no nada. However, I will continue to work with psych to determine if this is the best treatment for me.

Teva 30 mg IS the best and has been for years. Sandoz is good - but the peach-colored ones. The pink Sandoz are THE WORST - they are Canadian and they have A LOT of filler. We are getting ripped off, but if you can get the Teva 30 mg. you'll be set.

I have been on Adderall since like 2001 before that I was on provigil, but yes the Adderall is getting crappier and crappier by the yr! I get 90 pills a month 20mgs and they work for like 3dys after I get them filled and then i start to feel like I didnt take anything again. I hate the orange generic ones , lately I've been getting white ones or yellow. But none of them work like they used to. And I run out always like 1 week or 2weeks to soon and spend my days In bed because the withdrawals are very bad from being on them for so long, I cant think about doing anything I don't do anything for the first like 2dys but go to bathroom and get small things to eat. Nobody cares the government let's the genetics be only 40% of the drug I think and the rest fillers so different ones have different levels its BS!

Same here, past 3-4 years the meds have gone bad and adverse side effects then cause major fatigue! Meds are not the same anymore. I’ve had 4-5 meds majorly hit all at once...now it’s my Dava pharma Xanax and now my dr who had a consent order is retiring cause he’s an internal medicine dr, not a specialist, and didn’t know certain meds are now an agenda to bump disabled and Medicaid people off. Pharma is an agenda to bump people off! After what I’ve been through it’s so clear you got each medication doing the opposite of what you got it for! And I’ve never had issues going back to 1991, 2003 and 2006 for each medicine... 1991 for ADD meds.

Generic is a s*** show. Generic Klonopin is also garbage. I saw on the news that there is no FDA oversight when these generic pills come from other countries. One person went to the ER and had 0 benzo's in his urine so he was taking nothing. Same thing happened to me and it's not just benzo's its GENERICS in general now. CVS will not let me have my .5 mg Klonopin (NAME BRAND) AT BEDTIME ONLY, until I run out! When I took the generic I could get it 12 days early because it was nothing. I had to cancel a vacation over not being able to get me prescription ONE day early. Prisoners in our homes over a prescription is insanity.

"Generic" by Katherine Eban is indeed a fantastic book. Everyone should read it. It explains so much about why our medications stopped working or started having negative effects. I just wish there was a way to stop this.

I take 20mg per day of Sandoz Adderall XR. Day before yesterday all was ok. Yesterday I filled my new prescription. and took a pill and nothing happened. Infact, I fell asleep for 4 hours. Thinking it is some fluke, I took one today morning and again nothing is happening. All the ADD symptomatology is showing up and even worse.
Doctor says he does not know what to do. Pharmacist says pill is great, as if he is taken it personally or done an analysis on the product.
What is going on with this? This drug was first made in 1860s I think.

Does anyone know what to do? Is the physician supposed to issue a new prescription for a different variant.

Hi there. I am in the same boat as everyone else. It's so frustrating to go through this every month. I have tried just about every generic and here's the deal....
I have found that Corepharma and Sandoz brands to work well with little to no side effects. Sandoz is hard to find and Corepharma is in fact a done deal... no longer making it. Some places still have inventory left.

During the past three months I have had the following:
July - Teva 20mg IR ( I found this to be very weak and found myself yawning )
August - Corepharma 20mg IR (Again, this manufacturer works well for me and does exactly what it should do...smooth, optimal focus, no side effects)

**September - Aurobindo 20mg IR ( This was the ONLY thing available at most places so I said screw it and gave it shot. Despite what most have said, I was PLEASANTLY surprised with the results. I would actually say it's better than Corepharma in terms of optimal focus, positive mood etc.. )

I would rate them like so:

1. Aurobindo
2. Corepharma
3. Sandoz
4. Teva

I have NOT tried Mallinckrodt Generic but that seems to have the most consistent BAD, TERRIBLE feedback so I hope the notes above help you out.

I will also say that altering the dosage 10mg vs 15mg vs 20mg does make a difference from brand to brand in terms of how effective it is.
