2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 53) (Top voted first)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

Btw I too have been a clinician for close to 35 yrs. I've emailed, called and written this governor, senators, and state representatives congressman. Not 1 response from anyone of them.

I have seen the quote unquote narcotic contracts that is the doctors draw up in there office. so yes when you ask to be treated with narcotic therapy, uh you are asking to be getting drugs now I understand that some of you think your pain is so much and so on bearable that you have to have this but that is simply not true you have to climb a dependency latter before you can just start off with extreme doses of medication and it can't be climbed within a 6 month period. but here in Florida pretty soon the government is going to mandate and controlled by their own privately owned dispensaries.
so your local pharmacist will not have to deal with a person with such a huge narcotic physical and mental dependency. I am along with pretty much every other pharmacist in the state with the exception of the mom and pop stores will not fill any medications for a pain management clinic.... now a surgeon yes.
you have to understand that we are being held liable for what happens to you and that is not fair. A very good friend of mine lost his license in Sanford Florida for simply filling prescriptions that is not right well I can tell you I'm not losing mine and that is why all of you cannot get your medication filled you are not going to a reputable doctor not a pain management clinic.
when our technicians look and a prescription they look for PMC usually printed on the prescription once we see that we kindly tell you we do not have that in stock or we do not carry that, that is a nice way of telling you that we will never fill that prescription I am only doing what the DEA in the Florida Board of Pharmacy has told us to do.

By the way, a real pharmacist woul never say "you may think your pain is unbearable to the point you need these drugs, but it's not". Again, who are you to step in these patients' shoes and start diagnosing?? You are not a doctor; you need to get that into your head or change jobs. Your mentality has no business in the medical field. We are supposed to be empathetic and compassionate, not selfish, cruel and judgmental. Get over yourself and do everyone in your county a favor- retire early.

Paula, Walgreens did something like that to me also. Here I am, a 50+ person, used Walgreens for years. I've gone to same pain mgt, same insurance, submit to monthly drug test that btw is sent out @ 1,800 each time of which I'm responsible for 400 out of pocket. I was filling @ Walgreens for over 2 yrs no problem. Last may, I bring my prescription, and was told" good luck with that". I asked to speak to someone in the pharmacy, and the old " were not comfortable filling this". I had never seen this one, and thought she was a pharmacy tech. I was livid, and called Walgreens corporate to file a complaint. Not 5 minite later a corporate drone called me back and said that was the pharmacist on duty, and she doesn't have to fill anything for you..and by the way, I presume this is for roxycodone, I said yes, and I've not had a problem til now. Couldn't care less,:treated me like a pos. I went to several other Walgreens, and was told to go back to my Walgreens. The the worst, and they don't care about us. Must've been a note in my records bc the whole company wouldn't help with anything from that day forward. What I find so wrong is many of us play by the rules do what they want of us and still won't help. I wouldn't use Walgreens if tjeu were the last pharmacy on earth. They send you around

Something is definitely going on in FL! I've gone to the same Doc. for 30 years, been on same meds. for 6 years, gone to the same Walgreens for 13 years same dose and amount and all of the sudden NOBODY in N.E. FL has it! (Morphine Sulfate) What really pisses me off is, WHY can't/won't they just give me an answer that is not complete B.S.?? I'm just SO sick of being in pain, being treated like an idiot or worse, a drug addict/criminal! I'm gonna go withdraw for a few day's and pray for God to take me!

Y'all there must be something I am missing or don't understand. Like so many comments I have read here, I too, was in a horrific automobile accident, air.lifted to UAB, B'ham Alabama. I have had 27 put to sleep surgeries, go to the **** Treatment Clinic there and have never had a problem w/getting pain medication. I have already stated before I am on Fentanyl, now, 75mg and Oxycodone. They prescribe it, I get it filled. End of story. If you abuse it, it's your own fault because you'll run out and the pharmacy doesn't do early refills. I am also on, Xanax, Ambien and Soma. I know about the ramifications of taking too many of this or that and dying.

Remember I told y'all back in 2011 may patch fell off and I just stuck it in my mouth. WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!! DO NOT DO THAT. I WAS TAKING MY AUNT TO THE CARDIOLOGIST IN AUBURN WHEN I JUST, WHAM FELL SOUND ASLEEP AND THEY COULDN'T WAKE ME UP. SO DON'T DO THAT PEOPLE.

Maybe it is from the people that have not had a traumatic episode happen in their life. There MRI's or CT scans don't show permanent damage. I don't know how they get this kind of medication w/out something BAD BAD. or Cancer.

Doctors handing out this strong of meds w/out a bonifide accident like mine and many of y'all is plan out wrong. But it just isn't an issue f/me. Never has been.

you can't buy these strong pain killers online, even with a valid script. the dea has made it illegal to but these medication online and any legitimate companies will follow the law. believe me, i already tried.

well for one I had no clue they were on anything until i caught them doing them an they were let go on the Spot-Mf let me tell you all something you do not know nothing about me or what I have been through in the last 6yrs of my life-I run my Business alone until i blew my back out an had to have emergency surgery an 3 months after it blew out again because I was lifting in less then 2 weeks because of idiots ruining my furniture -so then for the 2nd time in less then 2 yrs I had surgery again an then was told to get up 5hrs later an after the surgeon cut me open 6in an stapled me together I got up an felt something tear in my back when I laid back down the pain shot down my right leg an my lower back -it took 6 months to be able to lay on my back or side-after I had plates an screws placed in my neck-I took oxycottin 80mg 4x a day an 14 30mg oxycodone an it still didnt touch the pain-then all the young -so then the pill mills come along an then no one ever had no pills cause of the pill mills giving so many out to kids an others-so you can run your big Mouth all you want-I got your criminal swinging B,like I said before you say you treat Drug addicts if thats the case why are you so worried about where an why people take pills an where they get them lawlady-you say you treat addicts what you treat them with morphine an oxys -I guess you must since your on Here you want to talk like you know it all an you know nothing.

@btown-for one I really dont care if you care how I feel-I do not go to pill mills-I go to a reg pain Doctor-an I didn't not know the Guys I Hired were on pills until I seen there eyes one Saturday whenj they come in an I ask them why there eyes were so Red an they said they smoked a joint-I wouldn't let them Drive my Truck an then I seen them both go to the Bathroom an I walked into see them crushing a pill an they were both let go at that Min-I ran a used an new store an its really Hard to find good help now Days-Same as when I ran my painting Business-you can get people to work an pay them by the Day-But I knew I wasn't suppose to lift heavy Furniture no more an after working my entire life since 12 an going to serve my country an working 6 to 7 days a week then all in 2min it ended an it rips me apart each day not to be able to stand straight cause of Idiot Surgeons who cut you open 6in when the first surgeon cut 2in,the first one I could run after it was done the 2nd one I couldn't move in the bed an it got ten times worse when they told me to get up an walk an something tore in my back an they just walked out of the room then 2 weeks later sent me to a f hip doctor which he said its all in your back-to come to find out the tear is something that cannot be repaired-so I am left with a leg that is tingling an numb 24/7 a back thats screwed for life an 2 arms thats weaker then Hell an hands that go numb all the time-I force myself to get up an do something around my house,an pay for it for the next week or two,now taking pills for depression cause its not the way i want to leave my life an so many times I just want to end it all,but to be told by people that the main bulk of people who take pills are in the 30's i know better-I am 54 an not the only person in pain but I do know I am not going to sit an let people like ladylaw run her big mouth on me when she dont know nothing about me an thinks I am not aware of how many teens I have seen run into Walgrens to cut in line to get there scripts filled so they can go sale them-I watched them outside talking on there cell telling someone they would call them soon as they left an hook them up-I seen all from 18 to 35 going in,an the 30yr olds had to start at a younger age to be where there at now as addicts-Like I told all the Kids I seen on pills your doing nothing but ruining your Life-cause if you had no pain when you started taking them you will surely have it after you start them an then not have them the pain will be there from all the opium in your Body from the pills-an I will guarantee you in the next 5yrs if they dont shut the pill mills down you will have to move out of state to get pain meds-people who got them through mail order can no longer get them now because the all the drug problems in florida-if it was not for pill mills you nor no one else would have no problems filling your scripts,Funny How Florida is the only State that will allow pill mills to open an get Rich for handing out scripts to any age just so they can get Rich an I am also sure the DEA gets a pay off from them to allow them to remain open,while shots an elec abalation will help people alot having it done at a real pain clinic that your Doctor will send you to-but now that pill mills are here you dont have to go through a reg Doctor to go there you just go pay them an get scripts to take rather you been seen anywhere or not-they will give you or anyone that is of age pills to take-then you hear that they are at least 10 teenage Deaths a year from taking all the pills they give them to take an they Drink on top of them an don't wake up,now its all over the world but people come to florida from a bunch of states to get scripts from pill mills to take back an sale or to take @jvk-I know how you feel-opanas never did anything for me-you should tell your Doctor to give you imed release morphine 15mg an some long acting 30mgs they do better then opana-I wouldnt waste my time trying to fill them-I see you think like me an we are going through the same thing-I am 54yrs old an have had 2 major back surgeries an plates an screws in my neck an the 2nd back surgery the SOB cut me open 6in for some reason an nurse got me up 5hrs after when i couldnt even move in the bed an when I went to get up I felt something tear in my back an when I went to lay back Down I screamed the pain shot down my right leg an I told them an they walked out-after 2weeks I go to the surgeon to get the staples out an they send me to a Hip Doctor cause I wasnt able to lay on my back nor my right side an it took 6months to finally be able to an now my leg is numb,an my back is no better-I had a friend tell me to go to this pain management an they gave me 240 oxys-60 40mg oxycottins an 60 soma-plus 30 valium thats what they hand out to every person who walked into that office no matter how old there were,I saw kids 18 an 19 coming in there an getting the same scripts an they walked in just fine smiling an then I seen them run into the pharmacy when I was slow going in,they can run into the pharmacy-run on the beach-talk about all the Sex they Have an how they like shooting up the pills to get a High quicker,an its the Pill Mills that Florida is the only State that will allow them to stay in Business an pay the Dea office to stay open an then the DEA goes to pharmacies an checks out how many pills there giving out an then the walgrens I used was Banned from filling any pain meds cause they were giving out so many an even taking them to court,they put pharmacies in Business to fill scripts an then allow pill mills to write scripts of 240pill of one kind an 60 of others an then instead of shutting them Down they act like it the pharmacies fought cause they filled what a Doctor proscribed to people,so then they go everywhere to fill them an the DEA starts going to every place in town thats giving them out an checking the quality there handing out an they are only given so many now-in the 20yrs I was using the pharmacy I never had no problem filling any scripts until they let these sorry ass Pill mills set up an you don't even have to have a primary Doctor to send you to them like a real pain clinic has to have a referral from your primary,When the DEA office an whoever else allowed these paper pushers to get into Business is the only reason no one can no longer get there pain meds filled on a normal bases an not have to run all over from town to town to be told they Don't have them.they wonder why the courts are full of street level drug trafficing kids,well if they wouldnt have allowed the pill mills to open an get rich quick charging people 125 to 250.00 each month to give them 3 or 4 scripts with enough pills to kill a Horse,they could care less about the 21yr olds that have died from over dosing from the pills they gave them to take an then drink on top of them an drop dead,the parents should go after the pill mill for Murder 2 for giving there kids 12 to 13pills to take a day,thats more then Cancer people get thats dying-my son died an I was giving Him 2mg morphine every 20min an they will give these punks that there isnt a thing wrong with at all an have never worked a day in there life 12 to 13 pills to take a day that totals up to over 400mg a day,Soon there will be no pain meds in this State as long as the pill mills get to stay in Business an pay the DEA agents off every month that come into there office so they can stay in Business-when there making 50.000plus a Month from everyone they dee they can afford to
