2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 50)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

i too like kays,they always seem too have it.but when i first started going there 3 yrs ago the 30s were 1dollar or so,but at the end it was 4dollars,they were very helpful so thats worth alot,didnt treat me like a drug addict like most rx's,i saw the dea is so proud that the sales of oxycodone is down like 80%,they want to take credit 4 winning the war,when all they did is make it unavailable too the rx's,so nobody can buy it and turn away people like myself who has had tramadic injurys,and cancer too have too move out of state just because i dont want too suffer thur what days i have left' but they think thats ok pain so unbearable i pass out.And now tn is on the band wagon,no,no,no,cant have that,but i can have a demerol pump that keeps me so doped i sit and drool,its inhuman to have too choose between my pain relife and my dignity

Nick, if the "answer" is to Noycott Walgreens, what's another Parmacie that u would recommend??? Please inform. "We", the people who actually can NOT function without this medication, are seriously being affected by this BS. Im getting up bright and early to start my "hunt" once again. (That is if I can manage to get mySelf up and out. Very I'll. :(. Praying for someone on here to be my "savior" and provide good news about who, if anyone in the Darasota area will have received a shipment of the Oxy 30's

Telecaster..., please confide in me what CVS in Sarasota. I've been on the hunt for days. I went into my usual cvs and same things. Different Pharm was there and instantly said, no, not in stick! BS! I've been on legitimately for over 1/2 doz years. And yes, I'm a clean-cut white female in my late 30's, and I've been told by other Zpharms the same thing "Font feel comfortable filling". I could see them say that to some of the other people I've come accrossed, because sometimes, I myself wonder if they r just using them for "recreation", or god knows what. Regardless, the people that don't REALLY need them, are hoarding the supply of people like us that can't even function through a day without them, and I've even see "these people" do "deals" in parking lots. BS! THIS is why the supply for people like us, who legitemlly NEED them just to function and try to even maintain a vertical position. Not fair these a**holes are screwing with our lives and the quality of them! In pain.... Miserable.

Just boycott freaking Walgreen's they r the worst and most disrespectful pharmacist's I have dealt with! And then u get just the young tech's who are just as rude! It's a joke, how they praise themselves for caring and going out of there way to help customers! I won't step foot in a Walgreen's!

Any chance you are in the Sarasota area??? If you are will u PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE "share" where u got urs filled??? I just can't stand the agonizing pain, then to be sick on top of it. Ridiculous! Can't take it much longer. Please someone help me to fill in or around Sarasota. What good are the scripts and the enormous dr visit charges when the meds aren't even available?!?! Please someone suggest where to fill Oxycodone 30mg in Sarasota !!!! Thank you

@Disabled999 I went to every major pharmacy & mom n pop from Palmetto to South Sarasota, probably hit 70 pharmacies total over 3 days & u got the same story everywhere I went, "sorry we don't have those in stock" or "sorry- we no longer carry that medication". My regular pharmacist told me that no matter how much or how often he orders he only gets 3 bottles a week. That's 300 tablets or 2 patients per week. That was what several other pharmacists told me as well. Basically getting your script filled is right up there with winning the lottery these days & for hundreds of legit pain patients life has again became unlivable thanks to the efforts of the DEA & local govt officials who are so out of touch with reality that they don't understand it is they are really hurting....i eventually was able to fill my script at Walgreens, I got lucky because they had just got a shipment in, but while waiting I watched them turn down 2 more people. Idk how long you can go, but thankfully my Dr. sets my appt's a few days early so I don't have to stress to badly. My point is you never know when you'll walk in & they'll say "ok, 30 mins" They are out there, but the DEA is seriously limiting the amount sent to each pharmacy. As for me, I might just switch meds, this is craziness!

Yeah they have the same signs in all of the Walgreens here in Bradenton as well. "It is the pharmacists sole discretion as to wethher or not they fill your narcotic prescription" I understand the concern when & 19 year old kid comes skipping in with a script for 240 30 mg tabs & a pocket full of $ wiling to pay any price because he'll just turn around & sell 'em all for $25 a piece. However they are taking it too far. Idk what I'm going to do, switch meds I guess, anyone have any suggestions for a comparative alternative pain medication?

Any suggestions on where I could go to fill in the Sarasota area????? I've been out for few days and can't find anywhere. Seems as though "Every Pharmacy" is out. Sucks!!! Ridiculously bad pain! Suffering! Can't take another night. If anyone can suggest where to go in Sarasota, I'd be ever grateful!!!

Walgreen's has a sign up at all there stores around here that says "It is the Pharmacist choice if they will fill a prescription" or "The Pharmacist has the right to refuse to fill any prescription they choose."

@jerry, Dont know if you are still havinng a problem filling in Naples or found a place? If you still need a place that always have let me know!...... If you found a place in ft.myers let me know! Cuz I live in Naples so places I know in Naples wont fill for me cuz my Dr. is in Ft.Myers! And I cant find them anywhere there, they say if you have not been here in passed 3 mons. cant help you! And I get from Walgreens they dont feel comfortable filling these! Then why do they have them?? Anyway let me know! And I would and am trying to find good dr. in Naples but most I have tried say they are not exepting new patients! And I have just been in 2 serious car accidents, in past 2 mons. neither my fault first my car was totaled then the rental! Its crazy around here!

It is actually against federal law for a pharmacy to deny to fill a script if u or ur doctor aren't from the county from which u are trying to fill in. This is just a Florida thing and I'm not sure how they are getting away with this. I live in Florida but travel to ny once a month. When I can't find my meds in Florida I just bring my script to ny and get it filled with no problems. I found this out around a year ago when I couldn't fill my script and was leaving for ny. When I called the local pharmacy in ny I was told that a pharmacy in any of the 50 states has to fill a script from any doctor in the 50 states since the doctor is lic. By the dea. So my question to everyone is how Florida getting away with this county restriction? Food for thought!

The same thing happened to me but at CVS. The pharmacist wasn't "comfortable" filling my script. I go to Kmart as a regular customer for over 3 years & when they are out Walgreens normally has them. In years only once was I denied. I have spent 2 days 10 hours a day looking. I was told I was the 500th person today....I don't understand what is going on. I thought that only legitimate pain sufferers would be writtin scripts. So there shouldn't be an issue, should there?
The junkies are going to obtain their drug by any means necessary, you can believe that! Robbing banks, pharmacies, this just creates crime...which does pay if your the state. They make money off of ppls misery, pain & suffering!

I just heard they ar4e doing this all over florida. it is because of the Dr. who wrote script. they will not fill for some Dr.'s they feel are bad...

WOW! The Wal-Marts here (Orlando) tell me they don't carry this pain med - Oxycodone....hmmm...if anyone knows one that does, PLEASE let me know!

I dropped my prescription off at a Walmart grocery store pharmacy. The pharmacist and his entire staff were very professional and courteous. I had been told by every other pharmacy including larger Walmart's that I couldn't drop my script off because it was a narcotic. However this is the second Walmart in a year to allow me to drop it off and guarantee when I would have it. Safe to say I've found my new pharmacy.
