2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 47)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.
PLEASE EVERYONE on here looking or needing their medications should be signing this petition. ONLY 12 signatures? WHY if there are so many of you?

Kays lost their wholesalers a few months ago and hasn't had the medication for quite a while. They USED to what you said but know they are unable to get oxycodone and rarely have methadone.
Try Lakewood ranch hospitalmedical bldg.
Karen, I've spent last 1 1/2 hrs driving around again, trying every Pharm I can. Can you please tell me the info you had. About to call off search... Very depressed
LizzyLegs; you sound just like me, to a T. I continue my "hunt" this morning. If I find, I'll share the info. If you come acrossed, please do same. So tired of all this BS
Miss Karen, Here we go again....I'm about to begin my hunt.. Oh, and FYI, pretty much every Pharmacy opens at 8:00am. Can you suggest somewhere?
dave - I have insurance use Walgreens 99.99% of the time for ALL our prescriptions -(kids, parents, partner) & I've been to all the Walgreens from I-75 University 41 to Clark 41 Exit to Exit and all in between. Walgreen on 41 & BeeRidge says they have never carried roxy or OC & never will the 1 on Cattleman & BeeRidge "if" she has them will only fill it if she "personally" knows the Dr. The 1 on University & Lockwood you "have to look" over 35 & be the right shade. Lockwood & 17th doesn't carry them. 3rd tank of gas and still NO - but their are some out their and if the pharmacist is in a good mood & likes you & has them You'll be in LuCk.
By the way I'm 50 yuppie middle class CPA mom and along with my pain script I have 6 other non pain scripts - everyone wants to fill those - Pretty soon I'm not going to have a choice with them - THEN they'll have the oxy's but wont do it because I don't have anything else to fill lmao - cause my head smurts too much
Glad I don't have a gun-so I can keep my head
Miss Katen, I'll "post" you in the am when I am able to leave the house (my daughter had 102 fever today). All I can do is try... again...
If I can't find, I'll have to do the "switch" as well. Just cannot bare the thought of being in pain and/or "drowsy", while acclimating to a new one. Can I ask what the alternative that you are taking now and how It differs? It's DEFINETLY ridiculous how the govt gets to dictate and regulate, what people with Chronic pain take, to try and manage and function through daily life. Maybe they should have somehow "grand-patented" the patients who have been using for relief, for more than 18-24 mths or something, and just stopped writing new scripts out... Who knows. Just so frustrating.
I'll reach out in am. Thanks
Oh, and by the way, this pharmacy opens at 8am.
I am not 100% positive, except they had them last month, when they told me what day to come in, when noone else did, last Thursday when I was there waiting for them to fill my morphine, a guy from my pain Dr came in to fill his roxys, the pharmacist told him to come back next Tuesday...when I heard that, I was tempted to take my ms RX back, and run back to my drs. And have it changed back to roxy's for the month, but I'm so tired of running back and forth, afraid to run out of drugs....I just bought the morphine...I was really tired on it the first few days, but my body is starting to adjust...they're not supposed to be as strong as roxy's, so my doc wrote the RX for more pills than normal...it's hard trying to change my body over to another med....yes, it is upsetting, it almost seems illegal what the government is doing, limiting production on oxycodone....I wish the government would stay out of our medicine cabinets, and so much for the hippa law...what a joke, I have no privacy when it comes to the DEA sticking their noses into my medical files...
Miss Karen, I aware of what you said earlier. ....
I'm scheduled to go back to Dr Tom so he can change meds. However, if I could fill my normal scripts beforehand, then I'll have another month to do more research. Also, my family is relocating next month, and maybe they won't be as hard to fill in our new town...
Anyways, I would like to try once more to fill before I go and have them changed, which I'm extremely worrisome about. Maybe I could "Post" to you at 9am, and you could give me the info.... ?
If you have a better suggestion, please let me know. Also, how are you certain they WILL have??
PS; thank you for trying to help. I really do appreciate.
Miss Karen, I jumped the gun before I read all the posts. No excuses, it was wrong, and I apologize. I wanted to make it understood that some of us can't tolerate other Meds. This is the case for me. I was given dilaudid in hospital after surgery, and was extremely nauseated. Same experience with morphine. Also, the problem with most of those meds is feeling " out of it". I feel that way now with the opana which is oxymorphone. I can barely stay awake and having a hard time dealing with everyday life. I appreciate your suggestion, and I have appt Thursday with pain Dr. I have no clue what he will try next after telling him how nauseous opana has made me. Forgive me, I'm not myself, and everything over the last few months has taken its toll. God Bless
.
Panicnpain, if the pharmacy only has part of your RX, show your Dr., he should be able to write another script for the sixty that you didn't get, and insurance will also pay for those remaining pills also, when you find them at another pharmacy....I've had to deal with forfeiture of some of my meds. Before also....
Disabled 999 if I post what you need you probably won't make it there before hundreds of others....if you know confidential way for me to contact, I'll watch for your reply...
Excuse me, um...I am in chronic pain, and was looking for am answer here regarding the oxycodone shortages. I would rather be getting relief from my pain and not go through withdrawals, sooo, last Thursday my Dr put me on another type of opiate. It's not as good, but my comfort level is bearable, and no withdrawal symptoms. I don't think my pain is any worse than anyone else on here, but people posting on here seem to believe noone has hurt as much as them...give me a break!
Also wanted to add this to the mix, the DR prescribed me 150 10 mg opanas, and after going to Walgreens and CVS, they both threw it @ me and said they don't carry them. I stopped at a mom and pop pharmacy, and he said he could only fill 90 bc he only had 1 bottle. I asked what happens to the other 60? Can I come back and get the remainder? No, you have to forfeit the other 60. Looked it up, and it's legal in the state of FL to do that. Any way to get screwed, they're doing it to us. Im not stupid, and bc they make me so nauseous, I've been taking only 3 a day. So in pain and sick as a dog. They also cost me $70.00. Believe me, inagony, Im not in your shoes woth none, but I was last month, so I know what you're going through. The last time I got thw roxycodone filled was the beginning of may. They said call next month and we'll put some on the side for you. I did call, and was told the " fill in pharmacist" should've never filled for you, and we've since fired him for filling for you. Don't come back here. In all my life, I've never been looked upon like I am when I show any pharmacy my prescription. Looked upon as an addict amd junkie. At first they're polite, bc I'm always dressed well, and have been a nurse for 33 yrs. I've done so much research on the net of who will help us with our plight. The American pain foundation is gone. I've written the governer, state representative and Senator. Mo replies, bc they don't give a damn. My prayers are with most of you. I will continue to contact people. I was thinking the ACLU. I can recommend a woman on fb who is trying to help pain patients. Her name is ratliffe, donna.friend request her, she constantly posts informative info everyday. The fl pain action network is the name and she's tirelessly working to get it off the ground.
Panic pain, Karen, inagaony, Dave, and anyone else...
After over a week with not being able to fill my scripts, which I've been on for over 7 yrs, I'm returning to Dr tomorrow so he can change my meds. I'm so nervous as to what he will give me as an alternative. As most of you, I do NOT and can NOT be switched to something that will drag me down and make me even more
useless, by putting me on something that will "alter" me functioning daily, in a "zombie" like state. I have 2 small children that rely on me to do "mommy things" all day. I've been on the Oxycodone for years, and although I've built up a tolerance for them, they still seem to help with my pain. I'm only about 115 lbs and I never drink, etc. I'm afraid of "switching" meds, because of all the problems lately with the lack of stock, only to have something new leaving me "out of it". Can anyone give me some advice on the difference between the alternatives??? I want to always be clear headed, not cloudy or drugged. Also, Karen, if you have information of a Pharmacy that will have them in stock tomorrow, would you please share that info with me. As you said, it's always "1st come", 1st served". If you would be kind enough to tell me which place that is, I'd appreciate if you would do so in the morning, this way I would be able to go at that time and maybe have some luck. We do all need to stick together, as others don't understand what life is like of those of us who suffer so greatly without them.
Inagony, I wish I had an answer, and understand how frustrating it is to not only be out of med but to be pit down about it too. So people are just clueless. The rest of us cam band together and support one another. I'm sick of most people's bs @ this point. If I ger prescribed the roxycodone and can fill it, I will share it. Im going to tell DR how sick the opana is making me. I don't see any other alternative. God Bless, and many of us care enough to have each others back.
nicely said panicnpain!!!!! I hate it so much when we come here, maybe to vent, to see if anyone can help with this dilemma, anyone mabe share a pharmacy that does have these in stock and you read some smug know-it-all who just makes you fell angry and even more frustrated. I come here to be a part of the solution, not the problem, and this forum has saved my bacon more than once since I have been out of the oxy-30 since June 11 and like most, cannot tolerate many other pain meds. Thanks for sharing!
Miss Karen, I see you're a chronic pain sufferer. Aplogies for that. Some of us, can't tolerate other narcotics. Morphine, dilaudid, opana, make me nauseated. I also had gastric bypass and am limited as to what I can take. Im also only precribed 1 narcotic, in addition to lyrica for nerve pain and flexeril for muscle spasms. I came down hard on you, you're lucky you can tolerate morphine etc. I'm not able, nor would I want to be a zombie. Opana 10mg are knocking me for a loop. Don't judge others, for some, roxycodone is our only option.
