2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 43)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

That is a long ass letter and a bitter one. This is what is happening to us... we are turning on our selves...

Call Walgreen's Corporate at 1 800 Walgreens and ask for the addy to file a complaint regarding pharmacist. They should give you a box #... I posted it before and my letter was edited out.

File a legitimate complaint by mail and tell them what they have done by giving the pharmacists so much power. They should have no right to refuse a legitamate script for WHATEVER!, much the less Oxy.

I talked to my doc and he told me that he could change me to something else... but why? Oxy is the best pain reliever available with the least side effects.

Suboxone sucks big time... nausea, headaches, and many other side effects go along with it and no one has mentioned that to take it you MUST BE IN WITHDRAWAL,,, That's right.... you must be in withdrawal to take Suboxone and then they titrate the dose until you have your script.

Docs that push Suboxone are getting kickbacks and their offices are full of literature on it. One even had me watch a video on it before they even saw me.

This is all BS brought on by the PRESS and they will not do justice in covering our problem.... the legits are left out to dry.

It is the pain free that have taken the right for us to be pain free away. Contact your Florida congressmen.... I did and they wrote a letter to the DEA. Now, maybe they need to get involved with Walgreen's and the other pharmacies that have such "policies" to discriminate against us.

The whole thing sucks... and they have not even begun to solve the problem of the drug addicts and dealers on the street. I pay $1 a pill and they sell them for $15 to $20 a pill. What is wrong with this picture.

I want to respect I deserve and the medication the legit doctor wants me to have.

after reading the book you posted i couldnt have helped but to say f..you NARC. calling 911 so you could try to ruin kids lives for smoking pot. like you never did it. cmon man your being no better than the dea. and all those accusations about taking bribes, etc. all you are doing is telling stories. wheres the video. wheres any evidence to back up all the accusations. jees.........

They were smoking pot AND picking up the script for Roxies. I agree when I made the call to 911 I even said I didn't want to be a profiling ahole BUT I this carload of kids ALL could have had cancer it's true But I was also going to be on the road with them & don't need an auto accident caused by kids that can't stand down on smoking in Parking lot and getting narcs? wth is that BS? do it at home. There is NO WAY the all could have been in pain or even dying & do that bs--b/c everyone with pain is experiencing the pharmacy difficulty bs & wouldn't want to complicate things for themselves unless it was easy come, easy go b/c not in pain & if they were all in pain & didn't care--than yeah that lack of empathy/compassion for other pm patients would be such bs that karmically that's on keal.I hate attys, cops, etc & the fact that some obnoxious brats necessitated it makes me sick! Oh, and I don't know a legit pain doc that doesn't drug test randomly so they could have been stealing "grandmas" script. Either way, of course I was not happy about calling but wth are they or you going to do If they swayed into my vehicle--pay my bills? fix my car? pay my astronomical medical for life? not worth the risk smoke your pot at home for goodness sake! if you are too ignorant to keep it on the downlow & keep it off the then yeah i would have to question the mentality in all other thought process too--like carryiing insurance, leaving the scene etc. On of my friends was in a serious accident & the kids left the scene but traffic cams caught their car & the kids were smoked out so I am probably sensitive. I call bs on flaming on pm boards fyi. There are proponents for med marj but then i people like those kids mess that up for those people too. no need for flaming. As far as recording--if more people recorded their pharmacy bs or stuck around for more than running in for their script & leaving they would see/be able to record the same. no flaming necessary for pm boards--we are suffering enough

after a long tedious process, I was able to find out that all of the big chain and some of the small legit pharmacies have already ordered their quota for the year. there maybe a few mom and pop stores that have an occasional 5 or 6 bottles left that or wanting 8 or with more dollars a pill. but for the most part Florida is dry

@abuse- I hear you. Hey were all in this together and not able to get our meds for whatever reason. I dont wanna argue with you especially this time of year and the tragedies happening all over our country, there are alot of other things the police/dea should be trying to stop instead of stopping pain patients from getting their meds.
I dont know what you saw and it was wrong for me to jump on you and I apologize. Please lets all stick together and try to beat the govt from letting them control what pain meds we are allowed, etc. So just wanted to say that and have a safe xmas and happy safe new years.

I just got of the phone with the Customer Relations representative to the CEO of Walgreen's... she told me bluntly that ALL OF THEIR PHARMACISTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE TO FILL ANY PRESCRIPTION THEY FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE WITH BECAUSE THEY COULD LOOSE THEIR LICENSE.

I told her that when you give a front line employee the absolute power that they have, they are giving them basically the power of life and death over the patient.

THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE TO GIVE REASON FOR THEIR DECISION !

This means they can arbitrarily refuse to fill a script. Maybe they don't like the way you look, or the color of your skin.... whatever???

I told her that this was wrong and no one, especially front line employees, should not have this much power and that Walgreen's needs to rethink this policy.

Realizing that this incident would go no further than the person I was talking to, I requested that she escalate my letter. She said she would send it to the District manager (in Orlando). I explained that this was deescalation and I felt that the CEO should be made aware of my letter. She said that she would address it to him as well, but not to expect a response from him.

I thanked her and wished her a Merry Xmas.

Now... why don't more of you who are willing to write long responses online take a few minutes... call the corporate office at 800 WALGREENS,,, ask for the Customer relations mailbox # and address and send them a complaint. If they begin to get a lot of them we will unify in our efforts to get this policy changed or at least altered so as no one person has all this power.

The DEA has scared the pants off these guys and they are trying to cover their asses back up. But they have alienated us and put us in the same ship as the dealers and abusers. It should not be their job to POLICE for the DEA and they should not have to live in FEAR of losing their license because they fill a legitimate script.

But they are all afraid!!! What a way to run a business in the 21st Century.

I have a script for MS Contin as well.... it was filled by my regular Walgreen's and not a problem.

It is easy for me to write a book b/c i was a writer in a previous life in the legal field. So for you to apoligize,k you are a good man. Florida is the most corrupt,prosecutorial, and litigious state. People are in prison b/c Self righteous (notice a trend in the people that i wish karma on) people can't admit they are wrong--judges, attys, law enforcement will sit on exonerating/exculpatory evidence & info rather than admit fault. And even then the appellate judges like at the 4th DCA uset hat lovely little case law which created the harmless error laws otherwise known as "oops, sure we are wrong (only after appeal after appeal filed & made public by a whistle blower) oops, are bad, sure we were wrong, but it harmless the person would have been busted/convicted anyway! there is never any justice.
Beaux, of course I have filed wi3th doh & walgreen w/ walgreens I initiated the complaint under Joe Doe & asked for a file number BECAUSE I DO NOT RESPECT OR TRUST WALGREENS TO NOT add a do not fill permaneantly to my file.
THERE ARE NO NEW RULES Pharmacists have ALWAYS been allowed to refuse.
What is new is that in response to DEA ACTION FOR DIVERSION AT CORP/WARH. LEVEL OF MILLIONS OF PILLS Walgreens had to create a proposal of Bs (like a kid turning in a term paper) whatever BS was going to be accepted by the DEA so Walgreens drafts their proposal of bs bullet points of how they will prevent diversion BUT THEY ARE TAKING IT OUT ON PATIENTS.
I agree that Publix is nce, Walmart just doens't care, & M and pops are overburdedn. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why People with Health insurnace don't freaking use their Mail order adding to their probs & mine.
Walgreens drafted a good faith in dispensing Bs guidlelines for their DEA proposed offer to maintain prescribing any c2s, some stores suspended etc. BUT BY LAW THEY ALWAYS HAVE HAD TO PRACTICE GOOD FAITH AND ALSO BY LW, No pharmacist can Lose their license/subject to criminal bs If using good faith (legal term, not the nice guy term nonlawyers think) good faith=no criminal intent, neglience maybe, WALGREENS WANTS TO MAKE YOU COME IN & THEN ANNOUNCE TO THE STORE YOU are somehow part of the prob RATHER THAN SAYING sorry DEA busted us, millions of pills were gone & the only people that had the keys to the kingdom were us, the Walgreens pharms & walrg. decision makers.
When peo9ple post talkng about pill mills in Florida now or other media propaganda, it is just that that is NOT a prob in Florida anymore. I know that Walgreens is truly the prob and creating a probl by failure to live up to what lay peo9ple consider good faith ie doing the right thing, just like having to post a business license with any c2 they are making the pharm read the legally termed "
good faith" in prescribing so that they are in DEA compliance not with prescribing BUT FOLLOWING THE PROPOSAL OF REEDCUATION WALGREENS CORP presented to DEA to maintian licenses.
My mom used to say , i don't care what rules we play by as long as we all play by the same ones" that is why i started recoridng and complaining.
Walgreens breaks hippa, doh licensing guidlelines, patinet rights yoou name it, but who and with what money is going to fight them? the law is only about $$$. As far as drug abusers, the media may say someone died of an overdose or by oxy but they Fail (fueling raitngs, commercial spots $$ etc) to tell people the route of adminstration or the quantity, people would think differntly if it was yeah the person injected 10 pills or smoked them or whatever. At what point does household cleaner stop being house hold cleaner or whatver the new chemical drugs are when people modify or misuse them. It is no one's right to tell me to take a long acting. li have one, it dooes not hold pain the 80mg oxy were the Same for me as the 20mgs--they kept me from waking up in the middle of the night from pain and kept me m obile to get out of bed but I reduced everytjing to bare minimum and got rid of extra meds that were just an effort to prevent upgrading to roxy, i ditched allo muscle relaxants & liver taxing tylenol products and found a perfect functioning and medication and fiancial balance only to have thsi filling BS kick in. it is only bs, there have been no licensing or state requirement changes. I beg people with ins, use mail order, hell if i still had insuramci would totally use mail order. Not only has nothng changed legally except walgr3eens DEA bus, but no pil mills, all remaining doc always were and aree strict, and state tracking/national database plus random test and pill counts so like I really need some out of school ahole kid god telling me that I and my famiy dont' n eed to function and of course al the things that go with functioning--ediucating kids (can't sit without mad pain) paying mortgage, attending sschool conferencng etc etc. It is ALL BS & again anyone on the board that say I have no prob, just wait, i thought the same when people started complanging last year but i was lucku wth a m & P then. Also, side note 100% Walgreens are simply aholes not coverig their asses with DEA but in response to DEA action of the past, nothing to do with patients, but a pharmacist who was a total ahole with Walrgreens is with a differnt chain now and a truly helpful guy. No more books from me. But we ca't stop complaining just bc we get our meds filed, enemies always count on the victms going away from exhaution, depression etc. Oh and anyone that say go on sub was either overmedicated suffering from refractory pain or striaghtup lying. I am on least effective dose (just barely effective) but sub is only an option for addicts without pain. Sub is the newest $$$making endeavor these days and has no effect on pain. Good luck everyone. You junkies should get your heroin off the streets like junkies have always done. Quit wasting the time and resources of the health system. Quit blaming pharmacies and pharmacists (who generally have much more ethics than your dealer/doctor) because you can't get your fix. Look at yourselves in the mirror. That is the only person whom you should blame.

"accept" whatever BS proposal was thrown together by Walgreens corp attys & DEA consultants! But maybe some naive relative of a agency "type" doesn't know the reality of the "system" yet & so is high & mighty--or maybe they are just high b/c a blanket comment of ignorance is closer to stupidity than lack of information/knowledge. Learned something new about Walgreen's... my insurance WILL PAY for medication from a CASH doc... but it is Walgreen's POLICY not to do so.

The logic escapes me???

I spoke to the local District Mgr. and he said that Walgreen's is losing a lot of business because of their new policies.

Again I encourage you to call and write Walgreen's corp. office about our concern's... Or maybe we should band together and all boycott them. As soon as I can find another Pharmacy to take my pain scripts I am transferring all my other meds to them. I know it isn't much to them, but I spend over $3000 a year on medications for my various illnesses. I am sure another pharmacy would love to have this account.

Does anyone know anything about the pain clinic in Pinellas Park? I just moved back to Fla and transfered my records there. I paid my 300.00 which would not take my debit card and made me get cash. I waited for hours before they called me back..took my vitals and then told me to come back in two weeks due to I had pills left from my ga Dr. I hope not to go back and get turned away again. They had tons of people coming and going. Second question..it looks like oxycodone 30 is out of question even if he would prescribe due to shortage? Any help is appreciated!
