2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 34)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

it's so sad our country is so hooked on money and fame.if you have money you can get any meds you want.I guarantee if my last name was romney I would have no problem filling my script.Just picked that name randomly.But it's so sad someone who has a sick hubby and has to work in pain,in the medical field too,can't get someone to work with and help them get their meds.Seriosly your doctor should call the pharmacy and tell them you are a special case.I'm in so much pain I can't imagine having to work.But like I said us common people don't matter.I actually heard a senator call us common people.We do have to group together to fight.Otherwise the authorities won't listen to us.If we could find someone famous to be our spokesperson that would help.I tried to get to Donnas site but couldn't.I'll try again.

i dunno if you all heard but no more roxies 15mg or 30mg by the end of the year. only way to get them will be mail order only. im trying to confirm this. 3 people said this so far since yesterday.

@ Dan: I've read a lot of these forums, but I've especially followed yours. I salute you! Thank you for your service. I haven't seen whether you ever got your script filled as yet. Any luck? I also been following the oxy news, from what I have read, they are reformulating the oxys to make them tamper proof. There were several write ups and a new redesign of it unveiled at a convention in September. I asked my doctor and pharmacist and they confirmed it. As for me, I got mine filled on the spot today after my doctors visit. I will keep you in my prayer.

They made the site secret FFPCAN (Donna) I personally quit the group it was to power tripping , and if people made a observation and asked qustions about were money was goin toward or came up with ideas that really should have been done and someone said it they got kicked out....sad, but you can do alot of work like allot of us who quit or got dropped from group, call and mail all leaders to Congress and ALL BIGWIGS and News channels and tell them your story and all that is happening. question...are they still gonna be instant release just reformulated or timed like oxycontin? thanx. im looking for a new doctor to at least to write dilaudid. noone new is getting the roxies anymore around here even though im not new just came from a closed down office where i used to go. Thanx Brian. Va hasnt been much help either believe it or not. ivetried and until my legal matters clear up with the govt, i cant use va. so im paying private with no insurance until disability kicks in.

did anyone evr call purdue to hear what they have to say?I used to be on their program until med b came out .I personally am not quiting the fight for oxycodone.You know this has happened with every class 2 that has hit the market.Last winter oxycontins were awful,now the pharmacies aren't having a problem with them.

SOME OF US HAVE TO HAVE THEM MEDS SO WE CAN BE ABLE TO WORK, AND SOME OF US SUFFER THROUGH THE DAY BECAUSE WE DONT WANT TO SUFFER WITHOUT MONEY.IF YOU CAN CLEAN YOUR HOME, SHOWER YOURSELF THEN YOU CAN WORK TOO.

@ Dan, to answer your question, yes, still instant release. Just reformulated to stop abusers from crushing. They did the same thing to Opana several months ago. However, I've read where the abusers are now using metal files to shave them down. Why they can't the meds and just swallow them, is beyond my understanding. For the record, the medication last longer in your body when swallowed. I hope all you abusers read this. Take them as prescribed. Your already screwing things for the people with legit problems. Dan, I'm glad you got some meds, however I know there not nearly enough to budge your pain. I feel for you. I know how it feels when doctors aren't prescribing what you need or you can't get the meds filled. When I was 15, I broke my back. For the next 14 y ears no one would listen to my pleas for help. They thought I was faking and I wanted drugs. Finally I found a doctor that saw a herniated disc, said he can repair it and I'll be in surgery 1 hour. The operation took 8 hours because they found the real problem!!! A fractured vertebrae. FINALLY, everyone believed me. A little late, but I never said I told ya so.

Mrshadow...well thats some good news then to still have the formula be instant release. i swallow them so wont matter. i had the old formula oxycontin and when the new op oxycontin came out it was terrible. much weaker then the older oc formula. but these were time released so hoping they will be instant release . ive seen and heard of ppl shaving down the oxycontin(new formula). heck google "defeating the time release on oxycontin-op " and it will list several ways to shave doen the op and abuse them. at least you found you back problem finally and they believed you now. this will all pass soon and hoping i get an appt. with new dr. by nov. 6th. but we shall see. trying to get the records sent over and see if they have them friday as i wanna go to the new guy before my percocet runs out so i dont have to waste money. thanx.

I am in pinellas county as well it is now october and the same pharmacy issues are worse! I have a feeling that one day in the near future this medication will not be available at all. What I can't understand is the drug dealers on the street have them, so someone must be filling them. I have had my prescription for almost 2 weeks now, I got the first half from walmart who never fills for me and then had the DR write me a new prescription for the other half which is only 68 and I can't even find that low amount. What I can say that I am surprised no one else has suggested is trying a compounding pharmacy, for those of you who do not know this is when they take the oxycontin 30mg powder and mix it with IB prophine and put it in a capsule. There are some rules though your DR will more than likly have to stamp the prescription compounds ok, or will have to get it in writing, mine just stamps them also they do not take insurance and charge between $4 and $6 a pill!! Crazy I know. You know who can afford that? Drug dealers unless you can file yourself with your insurance company and last you want to be in the county your prescription was written in. compound pharmacies are everywhere now and rarely run out. Good luck everyone I feel your pain literally! If anyone hears of reasons for the shortage like manufacturer closure or sonething please post also you can check in on the FDLE wedsite they put manufacturers info sometimes.

To all i have been taking 30mg roxicodone for 10 years due to severe spinal stenonsis . The solution is simple as i get mine filled every month like clock work, all I did was went from 30mg to 20mg , it is the same exact medicine just adjust count to make up for the 10mgs missing . i have had no prob getting 150, 20mgs all day long anywhere. your solution friend David Scott. why has knowone thought of this is beyond me. i have never been without and i only pay 15$ with my insurance.

I didn't know there are oxycodone 20 mg ir. If you search web, a lot of info as to why there is a so called shortage.this forum, can't post specific sites to read what's really going on. I want to look into this 20 mg info. God bless

There is no such thing as Roxicodone 20 ir. Google roxicodone and will show 5mg, 10mg, 15mg, 30mg.
there of course are the 20mg oxycontin but thats time release. I never heard of a 20mg ir oxy so i googled it to make sure but theres no such thing.

Just heard from pharmacist the 30mg and 15mg roxies(oxycodone)ir tabs will be changed to only to swallow and not shoot. dunno if they will crush but sounds like oxycontin withtime release and he said nope, its a instant release pill still just formula change.
im happy to hear they will still have them for people needing ir meds and not just er meds. I think this may trigger a similiar response with oxycontin being the problem till they changed the formula and now its not frowned on by drs and pharmacies and maybe the same will happen with the new formula roxies coming. i dunno i just hope my new dr next month will continue me on oxy 30mg ir and will deal with the new formula when the time comes. If he wont write oxy, I am hoping he will write dilaudid as everyone on the internet and people i know have all been switched from the 30mg oxy ir to 8mg dilaudid 4-6 hours instead. But will see. I found out the dilaudids are pretty cheap here in town. 1$ per pill-wont take insurance. the insurance will pay for roxies but not the dilaudid. so my buddy had to pay cash and hes on medicaid disability. anyways, hoping everyones doing good. we all get pissy on this site and take frustrations out so sorry if i come across at times harsh.

My Walgreen's, which was affected by the shut down of the Jupiter distribution center says that they are looking for another supplier and will have them back in 2 weeks, just in time for my next script.
