2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 19)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

To all of us on this board that truly are serious about there pain management and are in need of just a wonderful pain management dr in Orlando, I have the perfect Dr. who has tremendous credentials also on board of pharmacology and pharmacies respect her and fill all her orders normally i would not tell a sole but just email me at xxxxx@xxx {edited for privacy} i will get you in and out and onto the right path. the key is the dr's credentilas , this is a small oxy, roxy world believe it or not everyone , knows everyone, anyway thats a whole other topic. i will help those only in true need (I AM NOT A DR ) So please no mistakes i just have been seeing my same dr and have discussed this with her and she just started seeing new patients , she also has therapy in house when needed. email me as i will help if you like, please you must live in the greater regional Orlando area surrounding counties or you will be wasting your time. i hope i dont regret thiis seriuos inquries only PLEASE.

20 mg i assure u my friends is the exact same as the 30 mg just short 10mgs and cheap as they are over stocked because the 30's are in such demand. i have been taking 30mg for over 10 years. Then all of a sudden knowone had them(re: pharmacies) and if they did they were $6 - 10$ a pill my pharmacyst immediately suggested the 20 mg same A stamp bluish grey color and they are exactly same just 10mg diffrence and i paid $15 bucks with insurance for 150 just 2 weeks ago oct,1st 2012 walmart.. just have your dr make up diffrence in tab count or just deal with this stupid 120 max count but at least you are getting same med. some of us truly need it , it fires me up when i see these junkies with 500 30mg's and we cannot even geta single one from pharm for medicinal purposes. Somehow my dr because of my condition is able to to write up to 180 for me , but she must write on script( FOR CARE) this is in Orlando by the way.

Ive never heard of anyong getting 3mo. supply at a time, wow, i hope he can keep it going. Things are gonna be fine in time, all Pharmacy in Florida are lying there butts off Walgreens has them, UNLESS there store has missing meds like ALOT of Walgreens DO! And the Mom & Pop are saying because they are so hard to keep that they have to pay more, ITS ALL BULL S..T Other wise why would ALL Mom & Pop have them always but not a WALGREENS Ya Right i was born yesterday!!!!! But your gonna pay 4-7 Each!

The group is doing a good job, i just dont play well with others i guess LOL!!. Join them if they will let you and see if you like it, some of the people in there are really great people. Other wise we all need to write our local and state Reps and tell them what is happening in all our own words. And we have to fight hard for our First Amendment Rights!

Tater-I am aware of the shots and did recieve the injections which did not help me and i am disabled but having to wait to get medicaid until my hearing sometime in or around jan. 2013-few more months. then i will be able todo some of these other procedures to see if they help.
im a unique case. i was shot with a hollowpoint close range and the impact permantly displaced my neck/jaw. when i did have insurance prior to neck fusions we tried all the modern stuff but my neck was so bad and everyday i waited, more nerves would be dying and will get worse. so i had no choice but to go with the surgery. 4 fusions in the neck plate es and shrapnel in face to this day. so even after the surgery, my neck is still left with severe stenosis and the problem wasnt fixed so to speak after surgery. i was left in a world of hurt.
but basically, steroid shots were done both prior and post surgery. the other thing u said i cant afford to do this until my ssi hearing is won and recieve benefits. then sure i will at least try what your talking about.
i just hope the new dr im trying next month will listen to me about the meds that work for me and to stop recieving these 10/325 percs. i feel like telling him-look i dont have a toothache, i been shot in the head and neck. ive been in pain mangement since 2000 with top end insurance and i have been prescribed just about every type medication for my pain. out of all of the meds and which i can afford are the oxycodone 30mg ir. or if he doesnt wanna write those(thanx to all the junkies we cant get our meds) 8mg dilaudids 4-6 hours work well for me also and are very cheap. 1$ per pill from my pharmacist. hes eally nice guy.
so im praying that on my appt. since my current dr since day 1 3 months ago says to me i dont write oxycodone or dilaudid.
you can have oxycontin, morphine, percocet, methadone.
i took oxycontin 1 month and it was so weak and he adjusted the strength and then the cvs told me it was too high of a strength(they were 40's not even 60 or 80's) so i had to get switched back to something they have cause noone was filling the oxycontin or morphine so i took 120 10/325 percs(ironic the dr says he wont write oxycodone but thats exactly what im getting-generic percocet is oxycodone) and i need 2-3 tabs first thing in the am and then have 1 pill left till next morning. if he would just increase the dosage or switch me to dilaudid, ide be much better. he wont. so im going to new dr and will tell him this dr isnt managing my pain, plz help.

There are oxycodone ir 20 mg tablets I have personally seen them here in FLA. I don't have to look it up but maybe its because you typed in roxicodone which is the brand name. I don't know for sure but the 20mg look just like the 30's do same size and color just have different marking on the pill. Similar to a215 and a214 except the 20 mg is also blue not green like the 15s.

@ Dan,If oyu Find a good Pain Doctor Dan,Have them do steriod shots on your back an if that dont work,Have them Do the Electric Abalation,5yrs I had to take 4 oxycottin 80mg every 6 hrs along with 10 30s after bqack surgery I stopped the 30s an done the 80s,after the 2nd back surgery I kept doing them,I had the steriod shots done an it took the burning away an then a week later they did the Electric Abalation.If any of you havent tried to Have that done,Ask your pain Management Dr to Do it,I never thought nothing would work except a fusion,But it Helped me from being in chronic pain 24/7 an actually after 5yrs I was able to stop the 80s 7 days ago an now just take percocet 10/325 an dilaudia cause the electric procedure stopped all the chronic pain

Off topic bc of so many different stories of why most can't fill roxycodone.had dr appt last wk, and I was told still impossible to get roxycodone anywhere. The walgreens I dealt with for 2 yrs isnt comfortable filling them. The one 1 mile north said they no longer carry any c2's of any kind. Another in town said they haven't gotten them in.months. same corporation, 3 different bs stories. 6 months now w/o the 1 med that helped most. Been so off kilter with pain, nausea, tiredness, amongst other things. Sickening the drug dealers probably still selling them. So sick of it.

This post is about the supposed shortage of Schedule !! drugs in Florida...

My Walgreen's, which was affected by the shut down of the Jupiter distribution center says that they are looking for another supplier and will have them back in 2 weeks, just in time for my next script.

Just heard from pharmacist the 30mg and 15mg roxies(oxycodone)ir tabs will be changed to only to swallow and not shoot. dunno if they will crush but sounds like oxycontin withtime release and he said nope, its a instant release pill still just formula change.
im happy to hear they will still have them for people needing ir meds and not just er meds. I think this may trigger a similiar response with oxycontin being the problem till they changed the formula and now its not frowned on by drs and pharmacies and maybe the same will happen with the new formula roxies coming. i dunno i just hope my new dr next month will continue me on oxy 30mg ir and will deal with the new formula when the time comes. If he wont write oxy, I am hoping he will write dilaudid as everyone on the internet and people i know have all been switched from the 30mg oxy ir to 8mg dilaudid 4-6 hours instead. But will see. I found out the dilaudids are pretty cheap here in town. 1$ per pill-wont take insurance. the insurance will pay for roxies but not the dilaudid. so my buddy had to pay cash and hes on medicaid disability. anyways, hoping everyones doing good. we all get pissy on this site and take frustrations out so sorry if i come across at times harsh.

There is no such thing as Roxicodone 20 ir. Google roxicodone and will show 5mg, 10mg, 15mg, 30mg.
there of course are the 20mg oxycontin but thats time release. I never heard of a 20mg ir oxy so i googled it to make sure but theres no such thing.

I didn't know there are oxycodone 20 mg ir. If you search web, a lot of info as to why there is a so called shortage.this forum, can't post specific sites to read what's really going on. I want to look into this 20 mg info. God bless

To all i have been taking 30mg roxicodone for 10 years due to severe spinal stenonsis . The solution is simple as i get mine filled every month like clock work, all I did was went from 30mg to 20mg , it is the same exact medicine just adjust count to make up for the 10mgs missing . i have had no prob getting 150, 20mgs all day long anywhere. your solution friend David Scott. why has knowone thought of this is beyond me. i have never been without and i only pay 15$ with my insurance.

I am in pinellas county as well it is now october and the same pharmacy issues are worse! I have a feeling that one day in the near future this medication will not be available at all. What I can't understand is the drug dealers on the street have them, so someone must be filling them. I have had my prescription for almost 2 weeks now, I got the first half from walmart who never fills for me and then had the DR write me a new prescription for the other half which is only 68 and I can't even find that low amount. What I can say that I am surprised no one else has suggested is trying a compounding pharmacy, for those of you who do not know this is when they take the oxycontin 30mg powder and mix it with IB prophine and put it in a capsule. There are some rules though your DR will more than likly have to stamp the prescription compounds ok, or will have to get it in writing, mine just stamps them also they do not take insurance and charge between $4 and $6 a pill!! Crazy I know. You know who can afford that? Drug dealers unless you can file yourself with your insurance company and last you want to be in the county your prescription was written in. compound pharmacies are everywhere now and rarely run out. Good luck everyone I feel your pain literally! If anyone hears of reasons for the shortage like manufacturer closure or sonething please post also you can check in on the FDLE wedsite they put manufacturers info sometimes.

Mrshadow...well thats some good news then to still have the formula be instant release. i swallow them so wont matter. i had the old formula oxycontin and when the new op oxycontin came out it was terrible. much weaker then the older oc formula. but these were time released so hoping they will be instant release . ive seen and heard of ppl shaving down the oxycontin(new formula). heck google "defeating the time release on oxycontin-op " and it will list several ways to shave doen the op and abuse them. at least you found you back problem finally and they believed you now. this will all pass soon and hoping i get an appt. with new dr. by nov. 6th. but we shall see. trying to get the records sent over and see if they have them friday as i wanna go to the new guy before my percocet runs out so i dont have to waste money. thanx.
