2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 12)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.
In Tampa have been without for a month just had back sergery
Oooh. well learned something new today. they always told me in the past because they only had 50 of my 60 prescribed pills she said i could take her 50 and be 10 short tell the dr or to find another pharmacy...no breaking a c2 script up. she didnt say a law but she was firm. anyways, i never met any pharmacy who will break mine up in past but any ways
where is this please?
Go read Florida Policy on Medscape and feast your eyes on alot of facts we all didnt know.
@ mike, done playin is right, you do have 72 hrs to pick up c2's. My pharmacy has done it for the last few montjs with my script.
done playin- your right on most meds. however check with any florida pharmacy about c2 scripts. once filled, no partials allowed on c2 scripts...period. its been this way for over 10 yrs. once the script is run through, you cant pick meds up later on split rx. another medication yes but not c2.
I've been filling a monthly prescription for Percocet 10/325 since April. 120 tablets per month. Never had a problem filling, same Walgreens every month, but they were out this week. Pharmacist called around to every Walgreens in the area for me and no one had them. Said they were on manufacture back order. I had to check around some local pharmacies and finally found a Publix pharm that had enough in stock. The pharmacist looked at me with suspicion because I had never filled at a Publix before and it was such a large amount of Percocet. Apparently there is a large shortage in the Orlando are right now!
To all: I said that wrong on the 72 hour to pick up meds, it is 72 hours to pick up remaining meds that you didnt have enough money that day to get full script, they say you forfit that is a lie!!!! They are be Florida policy to give you 72 hours to come back for the rest of your meds! Good luck to all and god bless.
Go check out this Florida opiate policy site.....Google...Medscape, very interesting stuff like these pharmacist who give you half your meds because they dont have enough.......and they say you forfit the rest well.... thats bull, you have to pick them up by 72 hours or then you loose them!!!!! And so much more info.....Good luck.
P.s excuse my spelling today, hands are freakin out!
@Panicinpain, cool...been in that same possision in a way. I couldnt get mine filled but a 20 something couple in front of me were picking up there scrips and he asked pharmacist if they were the "Ms" or the "As" So i knew already from their track marks but that somed it up!But i guess i didnt look hooked enough for Walgreens i guess,LOL! NOT! And to EVERYONE READ.........(Google) Medscape. You will learn so many things about what the pharmacist are basing their"" sorry we dont carry them," OR " I dont feel comforable filling that" And the TRUTH & Florida Policy on Opiates, from the doctors to pharmacist, when you are right you will know it and let them know you know the real rules and policies.
@doneplayin, I didn't mean everyone who can get their med filled is a dirtbag. I was making an observation of this 1 person. I'm glad to know you're able to fill your med. My apologies for making a stupid statement. Just went thru an ordeal and still didn't get full med til tomorrow. This whole situation makes me angry, and frustrated like so many of us. Peace.
aly- nothing meant by "jew lawyer" its a joke and i grew up in long island new york where i guess people have a sense of humor.
one little fact...pick up a phone book, open to attorneys and especially in florida i would bet, 3 of 4 attorneys in the state are jewish.....so even though i meant as a joke and you just dont understand but its a fact there are alot more jewish attorneys than any other religion.
ITS A JOKE LIGHTEN UP is bottom line...time to take the oxy:)
This is to Mike, what do you mean by a Jew Laywer? Did I possibly read your post incorrect? I am someone that is not Jewish, however, some of my family are of the Jewish faith. I get the jokes, especially because I am from the South, where sometimes it's nothing but ignorance that these Jew jokes are used. Back to the subject of pain, I am one of you. And I feel everyones pain on this site. You have to be a chronic pain sufferer to know this hell, and feel I am very close to becoming someone who might be kicked out of a Pain Clinic after 10 yrs. of being a patient that did all I could to follow the rules. Also this Purdue issue has me scared to death. I would really like to know what you meant by Jew Lawyer? Might it be that possibly Jewish Dr.'s are very well educated and like most lawyers, possibly understand there is money to be made. I am sure there are quite a few laywers that don't want to go near this due to the subject matter. So, since you know that I was not raised Jewish, (not that this means anything) I honestly would love to know why you think this. Trust me, I have heard everything and by no means judge you, just curious. Meanwhile, from one pain sufferer to another, I get it! And I know your pain and feel it everyday. Good luck, and by the way if you have a name of a person to help all of us out here, please pass the info. to us all. aly

@Fraustrated , Im one of them lucky (DIRTBAGS)as PANICINPAIN Says because i get my meds filled every month, but it is so costly that i have to split them up in halfs and hope i can get my next two weeks worth by then but NO INSURANCE is hell, but most pharmacies that have them every month wont take insurance for them so it wouldnt do me any good! I dont understand how they can do this except maybe differnt regulations, i dont know, but i wish you and all the best.
25 cut back and ide be happy. they cut me in more than half and i had to suffer 5 months while my body went from 6 30's roxy a day to 30mg oxycontin(yes time release) and 10mg percs for breakthru...its bs but i must say im surprised im doing as well as i am but it took 5 months for my body to adjust to these levels and im in still alot of pain but the drs dont care.
the days of getting 30mg roxies 4-6 hours are gone
if your only getting cut down 25% be thankful its not more etc.
I don't know anywhere that has roxycodone 30mg, especially Walgreens. Those pos. Turned so many of is away after years of filling there. I brought my prescriptions in on on Thursday, and said won't be able to fill till today.. every month I'm put off 1-2 days, which eats up my reserve. I heard a real doozy outside pain clinic the other day. It was said as of new yr, they're cracking down even harder, and drs will reduce meds by at least 25% on every cpp. The dea has been i. Fl cracking on drs and pharmacies. Hope this isn't true. I feel if you've always had meds @ appt, pass monthly urine tests, they should leave those patients alone. I barely get by, and if they cut 25%, I know many will be worse off than me. So dirtbag said he still gets his roxies... I said ur lucky, I haven't been able.to.fill them in 6 months. Walked away, wasnt gonna ask where. Peace out
Does anyone know where I could possible fill 84, 30mg oxycodone in Orlando? I have several other medications, non C2 that need filled also...BUT I need to keep them all together. One is my steroids for muscle inflammation that I need to take now in hopes of alleviating my leg pain...it's a constant charlie horse down my whole leg and my leg goes numb quite often.
Did Walmarts start carrying them? I know my Walmarts told me no a few months ago. And Publix...has anyone filled there before? I used to use both pharmacies before I switched to Walgreens.
@Roro Yes I am in Florida and it is Walgreens! I have tried different pharmacies but they don't want to take new patients or will just tell me they don't have them. I have been at Walgreens for 3 years.
@Rick.....I can't afford OxyContin...I have no insurance since my cobra ran out and with preexisting, can't find affordable insurance. I have read I can apply for GEHA insurance and they will accept us if we have been denied previously...I need to get that done and get back on insurance...my new employer does not offer insurance:-(
