2011 30 Mg Oxycodone Shortage (Page 6) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI am a 51 y/o who lives in Florida, suffering from chronic back pain, and have been prescribed to take up to six 30mg oxycodone tablets a day for over two years by my Pain Management doctor. However, when I went to fill my prescription almost 4 weeks ago, my pharmacy told me their distributor had stopped shipping oxycodone to Florida pharmacies. Since then, I have personally visited about 100 pharmacies but have been unable to find them in stock anywhere. As a former paralegal, I attempted to research the situation, but could only confirm that the DEA has yearly quot on all controlled substances (for oxy's is 98 million grams in 2011). From I gather from the Internet, it appears that the ENTIRE state of FLORIDA is not getting any shipments of oxycodone 30 mg. from distributors, but are other states having this problem as well? Also, can anyone confirm whether (and HOW) the DEA is pressuring distributors to avoid Florida?
Finding a Mail order that will fill for less than 90 days is hard and if you do find one that will do a 28-30 day fill is really hard. THEN you tell them that you need them shipped to So. FL. and get told that as of beginning Jan of 2012 they no longer ship to Florida...
I'm a left BK and everything up through lower back is beyond repair (trauma not disease) You spelled it out quite well, Many of us are inoperable. Not the country I fought for as I recall.
I hate to inform you, but Pharmacist have the legal right, not to fill any script he doesn't want to, He also has the right to refuse to serve you as your Pharmacist. As the shortage is country wide, and the DEA and the production plant have a hand in this, the DEA, having the power, the production plant having problems in finding raw material, the people taking more than expected, that is including ADHD meds too, and some meds that are life saving to do with dialysis, we are Americans, guess what, that doesn't carry much weight in the global market. The President already address shortages a couple of months ago to the best of his power. Have you heard of countries not having food, well, that is right around the corner for us.
If you tell your mail order insurance company. That your getting narcotic prescriptions they know that you can't get a 90 day RX for Schedule II meds! You need to call them and tell them the problem. My mail order will accept certified mail to recieve the RX and then send back FEd Ex next day. Tell them that you can't find a pharmacy near you in FL to fill. They know that you need a paper RX every month. Agaian. NO shortages. I know 2 people that never have problems getting thier meds filled. You need to sign that petition, if you want to be able to continue getting any meds. Florida wants to stop pain meds, much as possible. That's why they are giving you a hard time. It's up to you. But If I had pain bad enough. I would be doing everything I could to keep access to them. All the info is in past posts.
PEOPLE WHO CAN'T FILL THEIR NECESSARY MEDS PLEEEEEEASE LISTEN TO DONNA...SIGN THE PETITION JOIN OUR FIGHT UNLESS WE FIGHT BACK AND SPEAK UP WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUFFER!!!!
Everyone of you, no matter where you live. We need your support. There is a conspiracy here in FL for pharmacies not filling our oxycodone scripts, or many other pain med drugs.I listened to a radio show Thurs night. Anti-opiate uneducated persons on pain, (pharmacists) said that they were making progress by not letting patients that need oxycodone and all pain meds from being sold by pharmacists in our state. They are only ordering 2-3 hundred pills a month. Some places aren't carrying any. This unconstitutional to deny all patients of ther vital medicines. If you think we housing crisis now or a jobless rate. This will only worse as patients find enough relief from meds to be able to work. Otherwise many will add to National Debt by going on SSDI. or worse their childern will suffer with lack of a parent. Enough of Americans being controlled by our Govt. Time to start fighting back starting with our health.
Here is the petition, please sign:

Here is the survey. Tell us about your pharmacy experiences here:

This will help our horrible crisis here and after it's finshed and we get enough sigs. It will go to Washington DC. and help your state also. It doesn't matter if the state let pill mills get away with there criminal activity. legitimate pain patients still have an American right to pain care and that includes oxycodone or any other pain meds. Thank you all for signing.
I am having a problem filling my perscriptions too. This is rediculous I don't want them putting me on stronger meds because of it. I have a very painful bladder disease. Nerve problerms. Disc problems. Hip problems. Other problems Cant find my medications in the tri county area of Tampa. These independent pharmacies, which I am having to go to because no regular pharmacy has my meds. They are all pushing dillaudid on patients like street dealers. These places are so seedy it makes me sick. They need to go away so I can go back to getting my perscriptions at walgreens and so they stop driving up drug costs. grrrs
Hi everyone, I am in the same boat as all of you, I live in
excruciating pain and have not had any problems up to
now getting my Rx filled. If there is any way we could call our state legislature, as this kind person says, I believe also as he said there is strength in number. I don't know about you but I am tired of worrying all month if I am going to be able to get my Rx filled that I went to my dr. to get but there are no meds to give me. I am sure you are all sick of this as well, not to mention withdraw because you have to go without them until you finally find that one pharmacy that has them meanwhile you run out. I do believe that there are enough of us that do not take these meds for recreation, but need it to just get
out of bed and live a partial normal life with less pain in it. Lets ALL get a hold of our States Legislature, find out who is in charge of this position in your state post
their email address back here and ALL of us start calling. We are doing nothing wrong and they are taking
away our rights.
Thanks
PS if you find out who to contact in your state, please
post it back here in an effort to make it easier for everyone on this page. Lets explain our individual cases
to them so they have something to think about.
This is insane! How can this happen and be legal? If you hv a legit script w/med documents to bk up why you take, why then, can pharmas say they are "out" and don't know when getting back? I think those fla. doc shops didn't help, but true all the media attention w/"hype" ie;MICHAEL JACKSON which had nothng to do w/oxydcodone!It all began there.isaid this ws gonna start a problem and here we are.
Someone has brought to my attention that many patients aren't comfortable about putting too much personal information on the petition and survey, so what I can tell you. Is that you can just state your first name and city/state of where you live. That would be fine, but please do tell what the pharamcies are telling you and where they are located with as much info you can possibly give comfortably. Thank you all for supporting our huge crisis. Nothing will egt better without everyones help.
Walgreen Fleming Island, FL fills them...
I can't believe it's like that in Fl. No shortage in Ky. I get opana now & get them from exrpess scripts. They send em out ever 28 days. With a new prescription of course. They will also do the 30s as well. Used to get those. I feel bad for ya down there for real.
I ran into that, got a new Dr. Didn't believe in tranks, decades of 1X3 2mg. No. nothing. Got my records, went to a new Dr. The Dr. had no right to take your script, wasn't his. New Dr. that take over, you can never tell about.
Carl
I also take Oxycodone 30 mg I take 8 tabs a day for ruptured discs in lower back and neck. I live in Delaware we have no shortages here, in fact my pharmacy is well stocked from what i was told.
It's a shame that people with REAL PAIN in Florida have to go through this. I was told the reason Florida wasnt being shipped there oxy 30;s were from the over prescribing by those walk in pain clinics, and from the high traffic abusers in your state and others as well.
It's a damn shame legitimate pain patients have to get punished as well.
Unfortunately, the situation seems NOT to be cleared up at all. I live in West Palm and CANNOT find anyone to fill... My pharmacist told me today to go back and have my doc write for dilaudid or morphine. He said the SEA and getting the "new system" in place has taken longer than expected.. has anyone in my are had ANY luck...?
Uhhh no offense but tht's just going too far and let me add that the 3rd world countries you are comparing US to don't hv tht thing called THE CONSTITUTION. OUR PROTECTION!. Plz don't compare or u will become accustomed to. WE STILL HV RIGHTS SO USE THEM!
@pcrwriter the DEA gets away with it because we let them by electing the same kind of people to political positions of power. Newt actually proposed in congress ( the death penalty) for drug dealers. If he is elected you can be sure oxy will be a thing of the past, chronic pain patients will have to take lortab 5mg an that will be even hard to get. At least RON PAUL, has said we need to stop this war on drugs because it is publishing the wrong people. Search on YouTube ( Ron Paul 1984 to now ) he has been consistent on all issues. If the government would just make this OTC for people over 25 then you wouldn't have people breaking into pharmacies and the street violence would drop because dealers could not compete with walmarts price. Some dea agents act like someone taking or snorting , however your avatar likes it, is actually hurting them, if the person staying home taking pills legal or illegally isn't driving or taking care of children, they are not hurting anyone. The only thing is that in cities where they have heroin, the dealers have probally lost the higher class/richer clients because of oxy's. So the dea probally noticed a drop in shipments and it makes them look bad not making as many busts.Ron Paul understands that the problem is that they are illegal. If they were legal they could be tracked better and it would keep it out the reach of kids, kids can buy weed or pills easier than beer or cigarettes. @pcrwriter if your running out of meds, don't go through detox alone, get by calling the hospital, they will either do your detox there or take you To a place that will give you a lot of Valium or Librium to supress those shakes and cold sweats, then work you down. As far as the pain, well it will still be there. If you don't go to rehab you better find some on the street because detox is horrible.
Thje same in Maryland. I can not believe as to what is going on >Icalled Mallenkrodt my self she told me they just started shipping out again. she said we will be seeing them within the next month or so.But i go to Delaware> not in cecil county./ They have nothing
I have contacted 3 dozen pharmacies in as many states and spent hours pouring over legal documents regarding the nazi german attitude towards oxycodone in the state of florida and no one anywhere including the FDA can find any reason for the current situatiation in this state. There are NO legal reasons and all (as in EVERY) single documnt presented by the DEA in conjunction with the Univ Of Wisconsin the medical consultant can be found anywhere due to the fact that they were all fabricated with false data. We are the victims of a completely fabricated hoax. I have read over 200 pages of these reports including the ones released on Feb 7 2012 and the only relevent statements in any of them is under section.141 which states that all truck drivers will submit to drug tests before leaving the scene of an accident. Someone is trying to pee in our ears and tell us it's raining.
Bottom line, if someone's in office now VOTEM'M OUT !
Good luck finding them as well...
