200 Mg Zoloft For 7 Years For Anxiety, Came Back
UpdatedHi there. So I have been on zoloft since I was 14 years old. I am now 21 years old. I started at a low dose and made my way up to 200 mg. So I have been on zoloft for 7 years. My anxiety was horrible when I was younger. I constantly felt like I couldn't breathe and that my heart was racing. I felt like the breaths I took were not full and I would worry and worry until I went into a complete panic. For 7 years, the anxiety was gone. I never had a symptom of it. Never had trouble breathing or feeling that way. Since about a week ago, everything came back. I was prescribed with amoxicillan, biaxin, and prevacid for a bacteria called "h. pylori" in my stomach. It is not that serious but the antibiotics are strong and I am taking a LOT of them. (2000 mg of ammox a day..) The doc said there would be no interaction between the antibiotics and the zoloft. Since I have been taking the antibiotics I have been feeling enormous anxiety. I feel like I cannot breathe.
I am not sure if it is because of the antibiotics or my body is finally after all of this time immune to zoloft. I need advice. My doc now wants to try klonopin on me for when I feel this way. I am only on the antibiotics for a few more days so I want to see what happens when I am off of them. But about the klonopin, I dont know if I should. I want to get off zoloft, not add more drugs to my system. I want to wean off of it and I was getting ready to but then this horrible feeling I had when I was younger came back. Anyone have any ideas what I should do? Any insight or experiences would be SO helpful. Thanks so much.

Hello, Berman! How are you?
It could be side effects from the antibiotics, they do cause these types of issue in some people, along with nausea, dizziness, headache and diarrhea, as listed by the FDA.
Thus yes, if your doctor approves, you may want to wait until you've been off of them for about 2 weeks, to see if things improve.
If they do not, then you'll need to think about taking the Klonopin, or switching to a different medication, because then it could mean that your body has become tolerant to the Zoloft.
You could also use the Klonopin temporarily, to ease your symptoms for now.
Klonopin carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.
When you will be finished with the antibiotics?
