Xarelto Blood In Urine

Husband has been on Xarelto for a least two months. He has had a steady flow of very bloody urine, which the doctor is not concerned about for over 6 months. Last night and today he has no blood in the Urine, and goes very little. He has Retroperitoneal Fibrosis of the Ureter, Kidney, and Bladder. This is odd to us that all of a sudden the bleeding has stopped. ## I would suggest speaking to a urologist, rather than a general practitioner. A doctor should be concerned about any unusual bleeding, when he is on a medication like this, it shouldn't be ignored or brushed off. The fact that he's going very little, now, could also signify a problem and this needs to be checked out, as soon as possible. Is he on any other medications?

I've been on Xarelto for 8 months for a DVT. Have been having nosebleeds and now I have blood in my urine with back pain. Also have a cough that won't go away. Called my doctor and told him I want to get off it and he said OK, but I need to go in for a U/A and follow up with the doctor on Friday. ## Hello, Db! How are you? Yes, those types of issues can happen with any of the blood thinner/anticoagulant medications. You did the right thing by contacting your doctor immediately to stop taking it. The UA will be to double check for a UTI or other problem, to confirm whether or not it was solely due to the medication. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of Xarelto as possibly including nausea, dizziness and headache. Are you doing any better, yet?

10 mg a day and these are the side affects. My friend stopped his everyday and went to every other day and it seems to work better for him. I was thinking of doing the same thing. ## Hello, Jose! I have been taking xarelto for about three months. I have suddenly been seeing a lot of blood in my urine. My urine is now bright red. It has been this way for about three weeks. I also have pain in my kidney area and lower back. I went to my urologist and he took a scan looking for a kidney stone which came back negative. He is going to do another scan with contrast. I have seen that side effects of xarelto can be kidney problems, blood in the urine, and pain in the kidney area. Back in December 2013 I had a bad heart attack and had to be put on Xarelto because I had blood clots in the lower region of the heart. The left side of my back gets pains when I stand up for an hour or more and I can't get my shopping done because the pain gets bad and weakens my back and legs. Can this drug be what is causing this? I also get a nasty taste in my mouth when I am in bed and my urine is discolored and has a foul odor. There is no blood anywhere. ## Yes, it could be due to the Xarelto. I am a 39 yr old female. I had my 2nd open heart in Jan. to fix an AORCA & developed a sizeable DVT due to the closure device used when taking me off the pump. I had another surgery to remove the DVT & insert a stent & was sent home on Warfarin, Lovenox, plavix & aspirin. I had episodes of nosebleeds & blood in my urine which the doc said was probably due to the plavix & would likely stop in Mar. when I stopped the plavix. When the shots & warfarin didn't budge my INR they referred me to the clotting & bleeding specialist who put me on 20 mg of Xarelto daily & told me to take iron 3 times a day. Started Xarelto two days ago. The first day extreme fatigue and bone and joint pain. I don't think I can co tinue on this drug much longer. Going to call my doctor but just wanted to hear from anyone else that might be experiencing this. Does it get better or go away? Thanks in advance for any advice ## I had joint pain after starting on Xarelto, but it went away after a couple of months. Have been taking Multaq for six months now . It has not stopped my afib, but has kept it at a rate that I can deal with. My pulse does not get as high as it has in the past, sending me to the hospital .The episodes have not lasted as long as before the Multaq.! I also was taking Xarelto. Did not tolerate Pradaxa. Now after the second time on Zarelto I have again had blood in urine.
