I don’t feel I’m getting the proper dosage of my Xanax. I feel overmedicated... I just want to feel normal. Is 2 mg extended-release and up to 6 mg short-acting considered a high or low dose? ## One 2 MG Xanax XR would be about as much as you would want to take. I am wanting to taper off safely from using 6mg of xanax bars a day. I am addicted and went through the worse withdrawals when I couldn't find my last 9 left in my bottle as well as my bottle missing. If Xanax and Ativan are both benzodiazapines, why did the Ativan work to relieve anxiety without causing depression but the Xanax didn't? ## It really depends on the person and how your body reacts to it. Just as an example, I'm fine with a low dose .5mg of Ativan, but if I take anything higher it makes me depressed and I feel very groggy for several days afterwards. However, there are other people that use it just fine without any problems. You really just have to figure out what works for you.
