I've been taking Watson 5-325 hydrocodone from Walgreens for years for back pain. I am disabled, have scoliosis and two bad car accidents caused the need. 3 months ago Walgreens changed to this new Actavis brand. It isn't working! Until I read this, I thought I would have to increase my dosage. Also for the past 3 months I've had sore throat and pain in sinuses and ears. I thought I had overdone my Flonase and have gone through 2 rounds of antibiotics without relief. When I read about the mother's ears ringing and nausea, I put this together. Thank you so much! I scheduled another appointment today for next week about this. Hopefully a new scrip will solve both issues. I went to CVS today and found out they have qualitest brand hydrocodone. ## @Brat Cat, You're defin...

Want a refillable subscription for substitute of above. Being told I have to have a hard copy every month. ## Hello, Izzy! How are you? Yes, that is correct, this medication was changed to a schedule 2 drug at the beginning of October 2014, so you can no longer have refills on it. The closest you might be able to get that can have refills is Tramadol, though it doesn't work well for everyone that tries it. Some people find that it doesn't provide pain relief for them. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Tylenol #4

Is Hydrocodone Apap 10/325 good for pain? ## That would be the narcotic Hydrocodone, and 10mgs is the most you can get these in, and Acetaminophen 325mgs, A narcotic analgesic. The APAP is just doc and pharmacy speak for Acetaminophen, sometimes these are prescribed to have the Aceta help with pain and inflammation, otherwise, it pretty much just helps them keep the drug on a prescription controlled substance schedule III or IV. There are considered generics for meds such as Anexsia, Hydrocet, Lortab and many others. Hydo and Apap Info Click Here

Is hydrocod /apap 5/325 a drug that is addictive? I'm taking it for pain associated with MS. ## Yes, Hydrocodone is highly addictive; as are all opiate medications that I know of. People who take Vicodin/Norco 'usually' tend to feel a rush of euphoria and relaxation, and any physical pain begins to decrease. Over time, users can develop a tolerance for the drug, and they will eventually require more and more to achieve those same results. From what I've heard, many people who 'abuse' this medication consume anywhere from 20 to 30 pills each day, and sometimes even more. If you or a loved one are struggling with Hydrocodone abuse or addiction, I'd strongly suggest talking to your doctor about setting up a tapering schedule or opt for seeing a drug abuse counse...

Is hydrocodone acetaminophen 10 325, a schedule II controlled substance, under current law, 5-2-2014 ## Not under Federal Law, but it will be later on this year. Unless you live in New York State, if you do, all hydrocodone combinations meds have been a Schedule II there since February 2013. ## I live in Oregon, and have been taking Norco (schedule III), and Valium (schedule IV) for a while for back, knee, elbow, etc. pain. My doctor has me come to him monthly for the prescription. I am under the impression that schedule III and schedule IV controlled drugs can be prescribed with refills. Is that true? Am I being ripped off? ## Mike-your doctor is covering his license and preventing addiction for you. As of this year, I'm fairly sure we ALL will go monthly. My doctor who is a pain m...

Saw a new ortho surgeon. Was taking Hydrocodone/Acetamenaphine 10-325. For lower back pain. He said "oh no, Don't take that!" and presribed Tramadol 50 mg. Why? ## Because it can be highly addictive. Also it is going to go from a Schedule III to a Schedule II, Oct 6, 2014. That means no refills, it can't be called in and you must see your dr at least every 90 days. Even though Tramadol can also be addicting, the risk isn't as great. Tramadol became a Schedule IV Aug 18, 2014. ## Hello, Pete! How are you? Your doctor may also be concerned about the Acetaminophen, taking it for a long time creates the risk of liver damage or failure. These medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation...

How soon after taking hydrocodone 10/325 can I take tylenol #3. My doctor is switching me to the tylenol # 3 and I read "do not take tylenol #3 if you have 'recently" taken another narcotic medication," but it didn't state the meaning of 'recently." ## Hello, Najnaj! How are you? Unless your doctor, or pharmacist instructs otherwise, it is usually intended for you to stop the one medication and start taking the new one at the schedule dosing time. In other words, it usually not necessary to wait days, just the regular amount of time that you would take another one. The FDA classifies Tylenol 3 as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. I'm getting the headaches too. Started taking them after I broke my leg. Mine are white oval with red speckles. Big V on one side, 3604 on the other. ## The drug is a generic form of Norco 5/325. It contains 5mg hydrocodone and 325mg of Tylenol. It is also classified as a schedule 3 controlled substance with abuse potential. ## Hi Curt, Sorry to hear about your recent challenges with this medication. According to the MayoClinic, headaches are actually listed as a general side effect of Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone. However, if you find that the symptoms are becoming too bothersome or severe, it may just be best to talk with your doctor about trying some other alternatives for pain relief. To my understanding, side effects like this usually don't go away until you stop taking what...

I took a Tramadol 50mg, at 6am how long should I wait before taking my Hydrocodone 10/325mg ## It's always best to follow your doctor's dosing instructions, but usually you can just transition smoothly from one opiate to another, at the next scheduled dosing time. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I would like to know if this Rx will reduce swelling. Monday, I had Oral surgery for the removal of a tooth and this is the Rx. I take 1 tablet by mouth every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain. Tuesday, I was scheduled to return for flipper retainer to be inserted but I was not feeling well & was very swollen, so I postponed to Thursday. Thursday, the doctor said it was so swollen, he didn't want to bother the swollen tissue so rescheduled for the next Tuesday. ## Hello, Vicki! How are feeling? Has the swelling gone down, at all? And no, this medication won't really help much with swelling. However, the issue is that after having oral surgery, they want to be careful what they give you, to avoid increasing how much you bleed, which is why anti-iflammatories weren't given. ...

5/300 is 1/3 the price of 5/325 of hydrocodone acetaminophen at the pharmacy. Does the pain relief compare and is it worth the difference in price? We are talking $13 versus $38 for 25 mg difference. ## It's possible they have already raised the price with hydrocodone combinations meds becoming a Schedule II meds Oct 6, 2014. Everything from manufacturing to dispensing had to have tighter security and the cost has to be passed on to the customer. ## Hello, Debra! How are you? It really depends on how well it works for you. If you don't take this all the time, then you'll likely get adequate relief from the 5/300, though I don't show a listing for that dosage being available, so it would be best to double check with your pharmacy. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has t...

i have a prescription from my pain management doctor for norco 10-325 but it has been on back order each time ive tried to have it filled at not only my pharmacy Rite Aide but other major pharmacy's have also been unable to fill my prescription is their any reason for this or is there any suggestion's ## Two things are possible. One, when it was reclassified as a Schedule II the bottles the pharmacy's had were sent back to the manufacturer. It is possible they are running short or don't have any. Second, this time of year it is not unusual for Schedule II meds to become very hard to find or not be able to find them at all. The reason is because the manufacturers are only given a certain amount of active ingredients for 1 year. When that runs out, they have to wait until ...

Why are they discontinuing the white Watson Hydrocodone Watson now ? ## Hi, Harvey! Who told you it was being discontinued? Is it one that contains 500mgs of Acetaminophen or more? If so, that may be the reason. The FDA has requested that all manufacturers lower the amount of Acetaminophen in these combination medications to no more than 325mgs per dose, due to the danger of liver damage that can occur with long term use and the liver failure that can occur with overdosage. Some companies are already implementing the change and the rest are scheduled to have it completely by January of 2014. How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. However, a general practice doctor or clinic can no longer prescribe this medication. If you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. This medication was changed to schedule two at the beginning of October, so you can also no longer have refills on it. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What is your general location? Rescheduling hydrocodone/APAP combos to CII seems to have mixed results. I believe that it was the ignorance of the use of liver damage with exceeding 4,000.mg of acetaminophen and not necessarily the abuse opioid factors. Your thoughts. ## Prescription meds containing Tylenol, where limited to a max of 325 mg of tylenol effective Jan 2014. Rescheduling hydrocodone combination meds became effective Oct 6 2014. There is no connection because drugs are scheduled according to their risk for abuse and addiction. ## Continuing thoughts on the previous post: The way they schedule drugs "according to risk for abuse/addiction" should in my opinion, be reconsidered on many accounts. 1st being that addictive behavior only stems from those individuals who are not disciplined in their decis...

My husband has a dislocated hip waiting to get in to the Ortho Dr. His primary Dr. Prescribed tramadol 50 mg 1 to 2 every 6 to. 8 hrs. & hydrocodone 10/325 1 at 4 times a day. I made him a schedule of: 2 tramadol every 6 hrs. 1 hydro every 3 hrs and every hour & 1/2 1/2 a hydro. Most the time he goes to bed by 9 to 9:30. On average he's taking 4 to 5 hydro per day and 6 tramadol per day. I also set my clock for 2 am to give him 2 tramadol so that when he gets up at 5:30 he's not in a excruciating pain. Then he takes a hydro & starts his schedule. Is this too much? We've never taken anything but an anti inflammatory. ## @SB, According to umm.edu, there are drug interactions between Tramadol and Hydrocodone. How long is a 10/325 tab active for inhibiting pain. VA Cutting back amounts is there anything to use with it or in place of for degenerative arthritis in neck, upper &lower spine, hips & wrists? ## It's been a while since I've ever had to take hydrocodone, but I think the answer to your first question may also depend on each individuals tolerance to the medication as well as their personal level of pain. Based on the 'usual adult dosing schedule' of 1 tab every 4-6 hours, the effects will probably begin to diminish at or around that time frame. As far as adjunctive therapy goes, I would recommend looking into various natural anti-inflammatory herbs, such as: Turmeric, Ginger, Cinnamon, Garlic, & Cayenne, to name a few. I hope this helps!
