This is classified as a narcotic, however it was derived from a sythetic one in a failed attempt to reduce addiction and side effects. Thus they have a medication that acts like a basic anti-inflammatory, but carries the same side effects and addictive potential as an opiate. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, vomiting, drowsiness and constipation.

I have been using this drug, lighty since 1999. I've had three surgical proceedures in the last 5 yrs. This drug was perscribed in 4 of the ops. With only a couple of pills left and suffering from severe trama of Gunshot and multiple Shrapnel wounds form the Vietnam War, my injured body(mostly feet, legs and lower back) has sometimes very painful nerve and muscle aches because of the well defined arthritis per bone scan prformed this summer of 2005. I only use this drug when the pain is very severe (on a scale of 1 to 10) the pain is 15. My V.A. Doctor Perscribed 20 tabs. (this is good enough for nearly one year for my use of this drug. I'm taking Norco 10/325 & soma 350mg twice a day. They no longer work. I have cronic lymes disease 5 year's now. Pain & fatigue migraines & a whole bunch of symptoms. I need something stronger. Fibro, CFS, osteo, haven't been able to get relief since they took Darvocet off market. Was on time release morphine for 2-3 years this worked. Take gabapentin 400mg am & pm. Obviously not working. Elavil 50 mg nite. Do acupuncture, chiropractor helps. If I'm active then I nose dive it immense pain. Epsom salts bath helps. I have taken OC 40 for years, My friend called me and said she filled her scrip with the new OP, She hates them and crys over her old medicine. It is manufactured by Chain Drug Marketing and they list it as containing 650mgs of Acetaminophen in an extended release formulation. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am 58 yrs old. I am in the final stage of Lumbar Spinal Stenosis. With this disorder I also have killer nerve pain, and numbness. In the past I have been on all of the oxy drugs. Took Methdone 40 4x a day for about 4 yrs. worked at first, but then declined. Next I was put on Opana 40mg. Twice a day. Did great on that until they changed the makeup of it, and it started to cause vomiting. I told my Dr. about it so he changed my meds to Morphine Sulfate 60mg twice a day. I'm on 5 different meds due to post op problems from a major thymus gland tumor and surgercal removal. All my meds come via mail order from a different manufacturer or distributor. How do I know if I'm getting quality meds? ## You can post on here at any time, with the markings on them and someone will gladly check for you to see who manufactures them and verify what they contain. My father has acidity problems. There is pain in the upper part of the stomach, mostly after dinner/evening. The doctor (Gastroentrologist) said that it is GERD and prescribed the following medicine, Capsule P-ZOLE-L, Tablet BIZLO-OD, Syrup LACTIHEP, Syrup CRISLIN and tablet ETICLID. He also advised for UGIE (endoscopy). He developed the gas and acidity condition after the treatment for diabetes and also has inguinal hernia. I've been on hydrocodone and morphine ER for many years. Last year I got up off of the morphine and was just taking hydrocodone. Now I have a scheduled surgery coming up on my back. My pain medication is not enough and I have seven days till I get my refill. I saw a pain doc recently and he put me on oxycodone 5 mg. It doesn't work well and I took some tramadol from an old script. what medicine I can take for pain if I am taking sulfameth trimethoprim ... please answer fast this pain is killing me ## Hi javier, Based on my research, sulfamethoxazole + trimethoprim does not list any drug interactions between it and various pain medications (such as oxycodone, opana, norco, etc). So in my opinion you should be just fine taking a narcotic along with the antibiotic.
