I am a 75 year old male. As long as I can remember I have had problems with concentration, forgetting, start a project & not completing it, uneasy around people, find it difficult to carry on a conversation, i can go and ask directions when driving and cannot remember what I was told. I have checked the systems for ADHA on the Internet and I have about all the systems. I was slow in school as when I read something I could not remember what I had read. I have spoken to a number of Doctors on this but they more or less shrug it off. About 15 years ago a Doctor did put me on 50mg of Zoloft per day. I am still on 50mg and have at times bumped it up to 100mg but noticed no change. ANY ONE with any suggestions or have experienced some of what I have experienced I would sincerely appreciat...

Zoloft Sertraline

Sertraline, sold under the brand name Zoloft among others, is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class.[9] The efficacy of sertraline for depression is similar to that of other antidepressants, and the differences are mostly confined to side effects. Sertraline is better tolerated than the older tricyclic antidepressants, and it may work better than fluoxetine for some subtypes of depression. Sertraline is effective for panic disorder, socia...

My wife has very bad anxiety. She can't sleep more than an hour or two a night. Her dr. says it's depression, which she doesn't have. I'm just wondering if Zoloft is right choice for her. She has been taking it but doesn't seem to be helping. ## Zoloft can help with both conditions, my husband takes it for anxiety. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. What dosage is she on and how long has she been taking it? It takes about 4 to 5 weeks for this medication to reach its full level of effectiveness in your body.

I've seen kids partying on zoloft because they said it gave them a "high" like xanax. Is there any narcotic part of zoloft? ## Hello, Nick! How are you? No, it is most likely just a placebo effect, because they don't know anything about the medication and what it does. The only active ingredient in Zoloft is Sertraline, which is an SSRI antidepressant. It can cause some dizziness and drowsiness as side effects, so if someone took a high amount of it, they might think they were getting high, but it really has none of the effects of the narcotics and other substances that are commonly abused. ## That is ridiculous...zoloft won't and can't make you feel high. Older women take it for depression. ## I used to have crazy hallucinations on Zoloft and extreme euphoria , ...

can pristiq and zoloft be taken together? ## Since they both have effects on Serotonin levels in the brain, using them together does increase the risk of someone developing Serotonin Syndrome, which can be very dangerous. Learn more Pristiq details here. Learn more Zoloft details here. So, if they are taken together, then the dosage must be taken under careful consideration by their doctor and they should be monitored closely to watch for any danger signs. Are you on both of these medications? ## I was in a severely bad way, now, mid-30's: Depression, GAD, and ADD/ADHD. will it be ok for me to stop taking 50ml zoloft.i have only taken it for 3 days and cant stand the sweats. ## There shouldn't be a problem if you have only been taking it for 3 days. In order for it to cause issues when you stop taking it abruptly, you usually have to have been taking it for a long period of time. Learn more Zoloft details here. You may, however, still experience some mild withdrawal symptoms. Have you talked to your doctor about the sweating? ## I was perscribed zoloft a week ago.100 mg for 3 days then 100mg twice a day. I started 100mg zoloft for 3 days then 100mg twice a day. Sees like too much for me. Its only been a week so can I just stop taking it safely? ## I would think that you should be fine since it's only been a week; however, I know everyone responds to these types of drugs differently, so I can't say for certain that you wont experience any withdrawal symptoms. If you do feel the need to take it slower, usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. I hope this info helps! ## i stopped taking effexor 75mg on tuseday an...

Been on 75 mgs of Zoloft for 3 weeks, I was tired a lot before taking it but now I'm even more tired. My question is would maybe jumping up to 150 help this? I was told the tiredness was likely from depression (had all blood tests run to see if it was anything else. Thanks ## Hello, Gary! How are you feeling? Tiredness and drowsiness are among the possible side effects of Zoloft, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. However, it should wear off and improve in severity, as your body gets used to the medication, so it may take 4 weeks, or so. Raising the dosage could actually just make it worse. These medications tend to cause REM Onset Latency which means your don't enter the REM phase of sleep as fast as usual and don...

Is it safe from a foreign country? I'm still a little Leary . ## Hello, Rusti! How are you? If it is available via a U.S. pharmacy, then it has passed the same quality and efficacy standards as all others, regardless of which country it is from. This medication is an SSRI antidepressant which may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I've taken 50mg of sertraline for 24 years. During that time, I would periodically try to get off it. But after about 2 days, I would feel myself go down and resumed taking it. It's been quite a while since I've made this attempt again, so more than a week ago I discontinued sertraline (Lupin Pharma) and I don't feel any different than when I took it. My th...

I think Zoloft is a junk pill & Xanax rules. What's your opinion on the two meds? ## I think that you're trying to compare two different medications that aren't comparable, at all. Xanax contains the active ingredient Alprazolam, it is a benzodiazepine that's most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness headache and irritability. Learn more Xanax details here. It is something that can have have an immediate effect, so it can be taken as needed, rather than on a regular basis. Zoloft, however, is an SSRI antidepressant, these can help with conditions such as depression, anxiety, and OCD, but they do not have the immediate effect that a benzodiazepine does, th...

Hi Everyone, Recently had a crisis situation where I had been tried on numerous sleeping pills unsuccessfully and with terrible anxiety and depression. Now on 50 mg of zoloft and 100 mg of seroquel together for 3 days. I seem to be able to feel when the depression begins to ease up already but I am experiencing terrible panic and heightened anxiety in its place. My anxiety focuses a lot on death and age as triggers but just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience of increased anxiety? Will it eventually go away? Also not sure if zoloft will help with my specific fear and anxiety so has anyone else used it successfully for a similar purpose? ## It takes time, but you should be able to call your Dr. hotline and they will help you. I had been on 100mg of Zoloft for over 20 years. I recently decided I did not want to be on it any more. My doctor helped me wean off of it and lowered my dose every 14 days. My last official dose was just under a week ago. I feel worse this week than I have after the days of just lowering my dosage. Am I crazy? I am weepy, tired, and sooooo irritable. My stomach feels like I am on a rollercoaster. I am a 53 year old female and wondering if this is my new norm? Has anybody had any similar experiences?

Started me at 50 mg for 4 weeks, slept very little. I was prescribed Ativan 1 mg helped me sleep about 6 to 7 hours. My Doc took me off after prescribing me 5 pills 3 times, total of 15. I have been taking zoloft 50 mg for 6 years now. I felt my anxiety coming back a little stronger so my doctor up my dose 25 mg. so I have been taking a total of 75 mg for 2 months. I have been having bad problems with dizziness and lightheadness. I thought that the side affects would diminish but they are strong as ever. Is this normal to have these side after 2 months? ## No, that's not normal. Most side effects usually last about 4 to 6 weeks, then taper off in severity, once your body had gotten used to the medication or dosage increase. Are you on any other medications? Has anything else changed in your diet or daily routine recently? ## I'm on Diovan for blood pressure which I've been taking for 10 years. Hello Folks. I've been prescribed Zoloft after being on Vailum (for a inner ear issue). It made me tired. So I was switched to Paxil then Wellbutrin. These made me even more tired! So, I'm back on Zoloft. This is my 9th day. I now take at night. I now wake up at night (10 minutes or so), have dry-mouth, and fell very, very depressed, for no apparent reason. So, from the reading around I've done, looks like this is normal, and I will feel better soon? I've never suffered depression until now, so this is very, very frustrating and disconcerting. I'm scheduling appointments with psychologist and psychiatrist but not really finding answers on what to expect with this med. ## Hello, Chuck! How are you?
