How are you? It really depends on which bacteria has caused the infection. For instance, if it is due to MRSA, then the preferred antibiotic would be Bactrim, usually one double strength tablet, every 12 hours for anywhere from 10 to 14 days. However, it is not an appropriate antibiotic for all types of bacteria. Thus, it would be best to have the infection cultured by your doctor to discover the best treatment. I have been prescribed Purbac for MRSA for 5 months. Some docs say NO, and propose Clindamycin.
