I got this pill in 02/2013 can I still take it now 05/2014 ## Hello, Minnie! How are you? That's well over a year old, so they aren't going to be as effective, since they're expired and that creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. It would be best to dispose of them and get a new prescription. Is there anything else I can help with?

From what I could gather, this antibiotic is not FDA-approved for veterinary use. However I have read about several cases of veterinarians still prescribing Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim DS for cats and dogs... Pigs on the other hand, I have no idea. But what I would recommend doing is disclosing all of your animal's medication history to the veterinarian in order to better determine whether Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim is the most appropriate form of treatment. my doctor has told me to take two of the sulfamethoxazole-tmp twice a day, and I'm really feeling sick since I've taken the second one, is this not an awful high dosage to be taken. ## The dose of Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim largely depends on the type of infection you have and how severe it is. However, these pills you have marked "IP 272" are regarded as "double-strength tablets". For most infections, I found that the dosing schedule was one double strength tablet (800mg/160mg) every 12 hours for roughly 7-10 days; so if you feel like you're taking too much, I would suggest contacting your doctor about this concern.
