i just went to the er for the worst headache i've ever had. I normally only get headaches when i'm sick and have a fever. all of a sudden, 2 days ago, i started getting such a bad headache that everybody seemed to yelling instead of talking, the lights in the office were so bright that tears started running down my face and my vision was a little off. they gave me fioricet at the er. is this suppose to prevent a headache? do u take it when u feel a headache might be coming on? I'm also a recovering addict and alcoholic, 22 yrs. can this be addictive ## Hello, Lainey! How are you? This medication so most commonly taken to relieve a migraine, so it would be when you feel one coming on. The FDA lists it as containing Acetaminophen, Butalbital and Caffeine, so yes, the Butalbita...

My generic Fioricet, BUTAL/ APAP/CAFF 50/325/40 is not covered by my Medicare Part B. A couple of months ago it SKYROCKETED from a $25-35 for 100 to over $70!!! Pharmacist said they raised price "because they could"!!! My Social Security is so low ( and my ONLY source of income), that increase devastates my monthly budget! Dr.s have tried other meds over the last 30 yrs., however, NONE have worked as well as this. I suffer from chronic migraines & this usually gets rid of it but also treats the pain if headache breaks thru anyway. Please, can anyone help? ## Hello, Anne! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. Have you tried any of the prescription drug discount cards? There is a link to one that can be found towards the right on most pages ...

recently when I take my Fioricet w/ Cod I get REALLY drowsy. I never had this problem in the past. Could it be the fact that I am now Taking the generic version? ## I have same problem Take a nap in morning and need another in afternoon ## Yes, there can be difference in the amount of the active ingredients in the generics, as compared to the name brands. The fluctuations are slight and many people have no problems with them, but some people are sensitive to medications and experience new side effects. It should wear off in a few weeks, as your body adjusts to the medication, but if it doesn't, please contact your doctor. They may need to prescribe it for you as brand medically necessary to prevent such issues. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was on Hydrocone for my migraine/tension headaches for 3 years my dr decided to stop prescribing pain meds to her patients. Now I'm at a loss NJ Is really cracking down. My new GP referred me to a neorologist and I was thinking about asking him about Fiorcet not Hydrocone but how do I ask without sounding like a addict? ## Hello, Lola! How are you? Fioricet contains a barbiturate, not a narcotic. It contains Butalbital, Acetaminophen and Caffeine. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia and nervousness. There should be no reason to worry about sounding like an addict. Just be honest about how bad they are and don't try to demand that he prescribed something. Is there anything else I can help with?

Cannot locate any pharmacy who has the brand name Fioricet. This past month, I have been using a generic brand manufactured by Qualitest. This medication has been awful; so bad that I believe it has caused my headaches to become more intense/frequent. I have located one pharmacy several miles from my home that does have the generic brand Fioricet manufactured by Watson. What is going on with the brand name of Fioricet? Has there been a recall or...? I take this medication on a daily basis (I have MS and suffer from severe/migraine headaches.) I understand that Watson Pharmaceuticals is now Actavis; however, why would they discontinue manufacturing the brand name of a medication? ## Hello, Rae! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. According to the inf...

These caps are expensive. Made in cap form & only difference in dosage is that the APAP in caps is 300 mg vs the APAP in tab form is 325 mg. Any info on coupons for the caps? I've tried a lot of the coupons & still remain $70 to $100 for 60. My Dr has written them specifically for TABLET form but the pharmacy said they are only carrying the caps. Thanks so much. ## CVS in NH always, always has the tablets. I’ve been taking this for years and have never been given a capsul. If you have AAA (for your car) a lot of chain pharmacies will have a good discount if you show them the card. My $90 Adderall prescription was only $30 and my pharmacist told me someone got a $900 pet prescription for $90. It’s worth a try. Just make sure you print the discount card from AAA...

round, blue with CL on top, then a score mark and 041 underneath the score. The bottle says manufactured by West ward but this is not printed on the pill. I have never encountered a pill without the manufacturer logo on it. ## From what we can discover, these tablets contain Acetaminophen, Butalbital and Caffeine, it is used to treat migraine and tension headaches. Side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. This is a generic for Fioricet and the CL is their logo. ## Do you have a picture that shows this, or where did you find the information that says its fioricet? ## Dawn, there are quite a few resources that enable us to identify prescription tablets. Under federal law they all must have unique imprints to enable their identification and databases are compil...

Anyone on a double narcotic regimen? Want or need to talk about chronic pain?? ## I'm not on a double narcotic, but I do take Lortab for chronic back pain. I have a hard time finding a Dr. that is sympathetic to my pain. They tell me to take ibuprofen, but if that worked I wouldn't spend money to see a Dr. Any suggestions? ## By the way Fioricet is NOT a narcotic; however, it is listed as a medication that has been known to be abused and/or addictive. ## Yea it certainly is a narcotic, schedule 4, look it up, and it's addictive. Just letting u know, not trying to be rude. You ever heard of barbiturates? Well it's narcotics, and fioricet has it in it. I'm an 11 year opiate addict, on suboxone now, but also take Fioricet, Vyvanse, Klonopin, which are only available if ...

i started using fioricet pills about 2 years ago when i fell down @ work and woke up in the ER with a councusion eversence than i get this headaches that drive me up the walls ## Are they still working for you, or are you having some problem with them? Since one of the active ingredients in them is Acetaminophen, there can be risks associated with long term use, which you should discuss with your doctor.

I have been taking Fioricet for 20 years. Worked extremely well to keep my migraines under control. The generic does not work well at all and I have many more migraines. Where can I purchase the original Fioricet. The quality of my life is not the same and I cannot take most other migraine medications. ## Hello, Janie! How are you? I'm very sorry, but at this time, it is no longer available and I don't have any information on whether or not it will be back on the market in the future. The best suggestion I can make is that you speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with?

Need advice on taking Fioricet. I have headaches and have been taking this for 7 months. My headaches are getting worse and I'm getting addicted. I cut down to 2 a day, and I think I should stop. NEED ADVICE. I am very tired all day as well. Please write back. ## I AM NOT A DOCTOR. This is my experience. Pain doctor prescribed Fioricet for my horrible headaches after car accident. I had terrible rebound headaches I knew were being caused by daily use of Fioricet (no codeine). I was taking from 1-3 pills per day, for 4 months. I cut it down to one pill in the morning the first day, and substituted ONE Excedrin Migraine for the evening dose(s). To my surprise, one Excedrin Migraine took away headache. I have had no withdrawal symptoms from the butalbital. My max dosage per day was 150...

Does anyone have info. re: ordering from the internet for generic fioricet with imprint MIA 110? Didn't have problems until this year with orders -- having tension/migraine type pain and pressure for many years every day; would appreciate any info. possible. Thanks. ## Hi Casey, Depending on whether or not you ordered your medication from a legitimate pharmacy, it can actually be quite common for mistakes to arise. What types of problems are you experiencing with your order exactly? Is something wrong with the actual placement of your order, or are you just referring to the quality of your medication? If you could please post back in more detail that would be great. It may also be wise to discuss those side effects with your doctor, who can suggest some safer treatment options for y...

Will they be making Fioricet Tablets again? The capsules don't work as well on my pain. ## they haven't stopped, you can get brand name or generic ## I have gotten the brand capsules but are wondering if the Manufacturer will start making the brand tablets again? My Pharmacist says they dont make the tablets anymore. If you've gotten the brand tablets please tell me where you got them. ## @Patricia, Do you know which manufacturer it was who originally produced the tablet form of Fioricet? If you do, I would probably encourage you to contact them directly regarding specific details on the tablet's future availability. If nothing else, perhaps they will be able to recommend a different manufacturer who may already be making these again. Another thought is to have a compoun...

I am so sad that this is no longer available in a tablet, but only in capsule form. I usually take 3/4 of a pill and chop it and carry the pieces in a small plastic bag. Why would you take more medication than you need to solve a problem. I see on this blog that several have been chopping the pill in half, and like me this is one of the only resources I have left in medication for migraines. I'm allergic to a lot of medication. If only someone knew how we already suffer, they'd never make it harder for us. ## So relieved that I am not alone in my need and want for Fiorinal in the tablet form. The capsules do nothing to relieve the pain and upset stomach of a migraine headache. Fioricet is just as ineffective. Does anyone know if the tablets are available from a Canadian Pharmacy...

Some of them have been discontinued and are no longer available. Otherwise, if it's one that can still be found, did you try asking your pharmacy to order it in for you? ## I have the same experience with generic Fioricet - it does NOT work!
