I have been on Hydrocodone since 2002. Along the way a fentyl patch was added to help with being ill in between doses. Currently on 25 fentyl and 50 mg Hydrocodone per day. Dr told me at last visit that there office was no longer going to prescribe immediate release meds like Hydrocodone. Cut me down to 30 hydro per day but no other adjustments. Planning to go down to one at next visit. Not sure what to do when even pain mgmt doc stops ordering. What does the "IR" stand for located behind the word Oxycodone and in front of the dosage amount, i.e., 5 mg. When I look up he generic Oxycodone I see that it has acetiminiphine and/or NASIDS-Ibuprophine. I believe the manufacture is Palladone. Is there an Oxycodone made that has nothing in it except Oxycodone. Thanks??? ## The IR stands for immediate release, which means it's meant to release the medication, as soon as you swallow the tablet. While there are some formulations that contain Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen, this one doesn't. This one only contains Oxycodone. There are actually 3 formulations available that only contain Acetaminophen, the OxyIR and its generics, which you've already mentioned that are instant release. There is a time released formulation ca...

I take verapamil 120mg er and refilled the medication. The refill came through as verapamil 120mg her. Is this the same medication? ## Hi Michael, ER stands for extended release. Extended release basically means that the drug dissolves over time in order to be released into the bloodstream at a slower and steadier rate. This allows the medication to be taken less frequently than an immediate release medication (IR). I'm not sure about the abbreviation HER, maybe you can check with you pharmacy regarding that? You can learn more about this drug on the page for Verapamil Details I hope this helps!

what does IMM REL stand for after Morphine Sulfate ## IMM REL stands for Immediate Release ## That is correct, it means the medication starts to be released in your body immediately, as soon as you swallow it. There are 3 formulations of Morphine available, the immediately release, the regular release that usually takes 15 to 20 minutes to start working and a time released that is slowly released over a 12 hour period. Are there any other comments or questions? ## And the bio availability in the immediate release is horrible. Meaning you may only get maybe 5% of the pill. That's way some people plug them, it's like 90% bio availability meaning you will get most of the medication. Just a F.Y.I. ## What exactly do you mean by "plug them" I've been on the 15's Imedi...

Do the compounded oxys work just as good as tabs? ## Do compounded oxys work as good as.oxys tabs ## What compound are you asking about? Most Oxycodone medications are available in tablet form, there are only a few available in capsules, such as the immediate release Oxycodone. Or did you mean something your doctor specially ordered to be done by a compounding pharmacy? Oxycodone is a narcotic and will work as such, regardless of what form it is in, however, it is sometimes coupled with Acetaminophen, to enhance its effects, in preparations such as Percocet.

Are the RP 15 oxycodones immediate release or extended release? ## Hello, Leroy! How are you? They are neither, they are actually regular release, which means it will take about 15 to 20 minutes for them to start working. Is this an extended release tablet or an immediate release tablet ## This tablet is manufactured by Roxane Laboratories and they list it as containing 8mgs of Dilaudid in a regular release formulation, which means it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to start working, after taking it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I used to get oxycodone 5mg in a green and white capsule. It worked within 1/2 hour and the effects lasted for hours and were very pleasant. One day, when I needed a refill, Walmart was closed, so I went to Walgreens. The pill is different (a round, orange tablet) and had the suffix IMM REL in the title. Not only does the pill not have the same pleasant effect (it makes me nauseous and dizzy) but it takes almost two hours to work. What does IMM REL mean, and does this have anything to do with its effects? ## IMM REL stands for Immediate Release, meaning the medication is released very soon after you take it, as opposed to a regular tablet which can take over 20 minutes. So, technically, this tablet should work fast. I am concerned, however, with the fact that you are enjoying the so-cal...
