I have gradually gained weight since starting .25 mg of Mirapex about 4 years ago. I have rapidly gained weight since my dosage was increased by my doctor two years ago (increased to .75). Total weight gain of 40 pounds. I am not going to take this drug anymore and plan to use alternative remedies. Will I begin to lose weight when the Mirapex is completely out of my system? ## Hello, SandraD! How are you? This medication has been known to cause weight gain, according to FDA reports, as well as nausea, fever, vertigo, mania, and abnormal dreams. But yes, typically these issues go away, once someone stops taking the given medication, but that may take 6 to 8 weeks. I have been on Multac for 3 yrs now. They put me on it after an ablation and I've only had one episode since and it went back into normal rythym just as the er doc was getting ready to hook me up to an IV. I've only had a total of 4 episodes in 4 years. But my heart rate jumps to 200+ when I do. My Dr was going to take me off of it but then I had that last episode and he has kept me on it. I want to go off and would like to know what might happen if I do stop after taking it for so long. I am a 60 yr old female with no other heart problems. I have experienced fatigue, hair loss and weight gain since being on Multaq, but that might also be age related??? I really would like to see how I do without it, but I or maybe no one knows the effects if stopping after being on it for so lo...

I've been on 5mg Lisinopril for almost 3 months and have lost 6-8 lbs. without trying. I was only about 180lbs. to begin with. Will the weight loss eventually stop or should I stop the medication? Thanks....Tony ## Lisinopril is most commonly used to help lower blood pressure. Have you spoken to your doctor about this, yet? The weight loss is not considered a normal side effect, but a rare and unusual one. Normally, most side effects start to wear off in 4 to 6 weeks of use. It's very important to involve your doctor in the decision you make about the drug, since the weight loss could also be caused by something else. ## Thank you for your reply. Rest assured I am not stopping or changing any meds without consulting my doc. Tony

I was prescribed Topamax by my doctor because she thought it would help 1. to eliminate headaches I had been having and 2. to help in weight loss. I have suffered from depression and she felt this would be an added benefit in helping that, or at least it would not hurt it. I do suffer from fatigue and I was told this may be a side effect so I was told to take this at night time. I started 25 mg for the first month and all was fine, I did not notice much. I then added another 25 mg for a total dose of 50 mg. and on the second day I was having memory type problems so I reduced the dose back to the 25mg. I waited another 2 weeks and added the additional 25mg and it seemed OK. I was taking 50 mg for about 6 weeks and the only side effect was that about an hour after taking my dose I would f...

I'm on Livifem now for 7 months and have noticed a massive hair loss. I have decided to stop using it because this is very traumatic to me. Will my hair grow back again? And how long will it take for it to be normal again? Thank you ## The FDA classifies this as a hormonal supplement, so yes, it can cause hair loss as a side effect, along with headache, nausea, irritability, mood swings, weight gain and PMS-like symptoms. And yes, the hair loss should stop and your hair should fill back, after stopping it, but it may take a month, or two, before you see improvement. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for that confirmation. Im so confused what on earth should a woman do to be normal again. I have no idea what to use next that doesn't have a side effect. Regards

I have been taking Diethylpropion for almost 2 months. I have noticed I have lost quite of hair. The medication has been working for me and I have been losing weight but I'm VERY concerned about the hair loss. From the side effects it says you could have hair loss but its rare. I would hate to stop taking it but I can not keep losing more hair. Will this side effect go away with out stopping it? Any answers would be very appreciated! ## Based on my research, I can also confirm that hair loss is listed as a possible side effect of diethylpropion. But from what I understand, these types of side effects generally do not subside until you stop taking what's causing it in the first place. Unfortunately, this would mean stopping the medication. Apparently it is only prescribed for use...

I was put on mirtazapine due to weight loss and am coming off it. IT is a difficult drug to come off and I am going through hell. However, it is well known that our bodies will get used to anything that we ingest on a regular basis, for a long period of time and will react if such a substance is suddenly withdrawn. How are you stopping it? Have you done a gradual taper? That is usually the best way to do so, to prevent the worst of the withdrawal/rebound effects. You can learn more Mirtazapine details here.
