I have a 12 year old son who has been taking Vyvanse for the last 6 months. His performance has been outstanding, but he has not grown in height since he started the Vyvanse. He grew eight inches in the year priort to taking the meds. We've taken him off for the summer, but does anyone else have experience with this? ## The FDA actually does acknowledge that growth stunting has been known to occur in some kids that take stimulant medications for ADHD and, if it occurs, they may need to stop the medication. Learn more Vyvanse details here. Have you informed his doctor? They are actually supposed to monitor the weight and growth of children that are taking these medications, on a regular basis.

My son is 14 and has been taking Vyvanse for about one year now. His current dose is 60mg daily. Over the past 4 months he has been experiencing side effects that led doctors to think that he has Neuro-Cardiogenic Syncope also known as POTS (Postural Orhtostatic Tachycardia Syncope). So now on top of his Vyvanse he is now taking Toprol 25mg daily. His symptoms include rapid heart beat, dizziness, blurred vision, and chest pain. He had a TILT test performed and failed. But now after reading more, I think that these symptoms are all side effects of his medication. He participates in sports and can no longer get through a wrestling match without the symptoms so severe, he has to quit the match. Has anyone else had this? ## Yes, those can be side effects of the Vyvanse, though they aren'...

I've only been taking the drug for about a week, but I feel great. I have much more energy, confidence, and possibly strength. I have also lost a good portion of my appetite (which is okay, as I'm somewhat overweight. 6'5" 280 lbs, though I am also an offensive lineman for the high school). How long do these effects last? Do they wear off the longer I take them? ## Hi Cameron, I'm glad this medication is working well for you. Over time, the effects you are experiencing may level out some due to an increased tolerance and may not continue to be quite as strong. It's impossible to know for sure though, since everyone reacts to medication differently. Learn More: Vyvanse Details I hope this helps! ## Okay, thanks. I'm a senior in high school and have been taking vyvanse since the middle of my freshman year. I take it every school day for my ADD. I'm prescribed 40 mg. I've never been able to think a perfect way to describe how I feel when it's wearing off. After about 3 hours I'll start to feel like there's fog in my head. Everything seems hazy and dream like. I'll become extremely irritated to the point where the next person that talks is lucky they aren't getting punched. At lunch I won't eat from no appatite and I'll sit there with my friends as I say nothing. I feel awkward, nervous, anxious, alone, and paranoid. I don't want anything to do with anyone maybe because I feel like something's wrong with me. Later on in the day I begin to feel my fac...

Vyvanse Lisdexamfetamine Dimesylate

Lisdexamfetamine, sold under the brand name Vyvanse among others, is a stimulant medication that is mainly used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in people over the age of five as well as moderate-to-severe binge eating disorder in adults.[11] Lisdexamfetamine is taken by mouth. Its effects generally begin within 2 hours and last for up to 14 hours.[11][12] In the United Kingdom, it is usually less preferred than methylphe...

I wonder if anyone can help or advise me , I am in my late thirtys and I have been on Vyvanse for three weeks now. I have had bad pain in my upper abdomen which Dr cannot find any problem with ( scan ) and my hands shake very badly. Does anyone else have this , is it normal ? ## yes those are side effects that vyvanse can cause.... I had hallucinations with my 70mg dose... im going to the doctor today ## high blood pressure! ## I had a bloated, kind if cramps feeling in my stomach for the first several weeks. I think it is mild constipation, and I took stool softeners and fiber pills every day for awhile. After about a month, the pain went away along with the bloated feeling and everything is fine now. Be very aware of drinking lots of water. I'm sure you've noticed a dry mouth,...

Strange, normally when I take a 25 Aderrall XR I feel the effects and can study for hours on end...I was recently prescribed Vyvanse, but I still had some Aderrall left, so i took one 25 mg XR at about noon...didnt feel much, so i broke open another 25 XR and ate half...still nothing..so i ate the other half (at about 3 PM)...about an hour later I still felt very below average effects. So I took a 40 mg Vyvanse. Felt more focused, but nothing special. So I broke open another 40 MG and poured half (20 mg) into a glass of water. Drank that, and about an hour later still nothing, so I took the other half....and I still don't feel any effects! Not even average effects....very strange. I have a fairly bad cold (but not taking any meds for it except aspirin for headaches)...not sure if th...

I have class from 8am-1pm, so I don't need a pill that lasts for 12 hours. A pill that lasts around 8 hours would be more that sufficient for my needs. It wouldn't be an issue, but the side effects of Vyvanse blow, and I'd rather they not last throughout the entire day. I can't maintain a proper diet; it is extremely difficult to "get it up" when the lady friend and I can find time alone; my hands get clammy; I get jittery; sometimes I feel like I can't catch my breath even though I am in exceptional shape; the dry mouth I get is more severe than most, to the point that I am actually difficult to understand as the pill begins to wear off; and the worst is how unbelievably irritable I get as it starts to wear off. Are there any drugs with lesser side effects, ...

I am 56 years old...my scrip runs out and i find I am without my 30 mg dose for 3 to 5 days and get strong headaches in my back of my head at brainstem..normal? ## Hey Jim, I'm 58, I took 30 mg the first day and at the end of the day I got a whopping headache in the back of my head. I had a concussion about 4 weeks ago, so I'm nervous about this. I was wondering the same thing about the headache. I thin it is withdrawal symptom too. I'm going to ask my doctor when I see her next week. I'll pass it on to you. ## Yes, that can be a withdrawal symptom, but anytime you experience a new type of headache, or one that is more intense than usual, you should consult a medical professional to be safe, as direct by FDA warnings. Vyvanse does carry the risk of being habit forming, s...

I took 1 Tegretol (first time) today. I am dizzy, falling down, room is spinning. My daughter is getting married tomorrow. I need these side effects to go away now. I am also on Lamictal, Clonipin and Vyvanse. Can someone please give me any specific advice as to get rid of the side effects now. I would never be able to function at my daughter's wedding as I am now. ## Wow, Sarah! I am very sorry! Starting so close to her wedding was likely not a great idea. Did your doctor advise this? How are you feeling? How did the wedding go? There's really no way to get rid of side effects that fast, it takes time for them to wear off. ## My Son AK (6 yr) has been on Tegretol since his 3rd seizure attack (primary generalized seizure as per EEG) on June 18-2014. The initial dose has been pro...

I have taken the drug vyvanse a few times and every single time my tongue tastes like blood and I spit up small amounts of blood. I wanted to see if this drug was the cause of these symptoms so I waited a few days to see if there was a pattern. The blood spitting went away after a few days and everything cleared up. As soon as I took the pill again everything came back quickly and exactly the same symptoms. Also my entire tongue muscle turns gray until the drug wears off. I don't mean that it has a grey coating I mean the tongue muscle is grey. Obviously I know to stop taking this drug immediately but I am more worried that these rare side effects are any indication that I have another underlying issue possibly with my esophagus. I am a female and 21 years old in otherwise great hea...

My 8 year old daughter is on 40 mgs of vyvanse it helps her focus but makes her head hurt and if I don't feed her before she will not have a appetite all day.The first time today I gave her cereal and milk and about 4pm she through up ## Hello, Worried! How is your daughter doing? This is a stimulant drug, so loss of appetite can be a normal side effect that some people experience, when taking it. The headaches are also a common side effect, along with the nausea. She may also experience dizziness, nervousness and insomnia. How long has she been taking it? Most of the typical side effects will wear off, after about 4 to 6 weeks, once her body gets used to the medication. However, if they don't, or if they worsen, she may need to be switched to a different medication, as this mig...

I got a prescription for Vyvance for BED about 6 months ago and never started it. Do you think it's expired by now, and won't work if I start it? ## Hello, Amy! How are you? No, it should be fine, if your doctor still approves of you trying it. Tablets and capsules are usually good for at least a year from whenever you received them from your pharmacy. The FDA classifies Vyvanse as a stimulant, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as dizziness, headache, dry mouth, insomnia, nervousness and anorexia. Is there anything else I can help with?

My doctor informed me if I'd take the two together, it would enhance and prolong the effects of Vyvanse. I've tried it and it's true, it really does enhance & prolong the effects. Zegerid is available OTC and is an acid reducer and works quite well.

i know one of the side effects of vyvanse is insomnia. i can't sleep at all on this stuff, usually i get four or five hours of sleep per two nights. on a good day i'll get six or seven but again, that's over the span of two nights. i take vyvanse every morning except for the weekends, and it gives me enough energy that i can function mentally as though i've gotten all the sleep i need, but my body is achy and sore, and it's starting to make me feel a bit ill. Not to mention i have trouble getting out of bed at all on the weekends when i don't take it. all i'm basically asking is this- people with 60-70mgs, if you have the same problem, how do you get to sleep? is there any way to combat the insomnia without nullifying the medicine? I already take Olanzipine (...

I believe someone has tampered with my medication (s489 70mg Vyvanse). I noticed some of them look crunched, like they may have been refilled with something else. All I need to know is what the inside of one looks like so I can rest easy on the thought of it. ## What are you referring to as looking crunched? Most capsules do show some irregularities, when they are put together, since they are actually 2 separate pieces and one is pushed into the other. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, anorexia, and nervousness. Can you please post back with more specifics on what has caused your suspicion?

Yesterday I took 3 zanaflex at about 4:30pm then at about 5am I took a vyvanse. It 3:35 where I'm at. I'm experiencing severe stomach pain. It hurts when I move even when I talk I can't eat anything I can barely drink water. Am I going to be ok. I'm 13 years old I weigh 106 pounds and I'm 5,6 ## The vyvanse was a full 70mg plz let me know if I will be ok ## How are you doing? Did you suffer any other adverse effects? Are these medications prescribed for you? Any time this happens and you fear that you may be in danger, you should contact poison control or go to your nearest emergency care facility. By combining muscle relaxants, which is essentially a downer, with the stimulant, you give you body conflicting messages and it's not sure what to do/which message to ...
