What is the closest over the countet medicine ## What is the closest over the counter medicine to tussi organdin ## Hello, Tobey! How are you? There is nothing available over the counter that is comparative, since one of the ingredients in this is Codeine, which the fad classifies as a narcotic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. It is only available by prescription. The Guaifenesin is available over the counter, but it likely won't work as well, without the Codeine. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My apologies! That should read FDA, not fad.

how strong is tussionex ext rel sus? is is stronger than last one i got that said hycodone? ## Hello, Richard! How are you? Without knowing the dosages, I can't answer that. What is the dosage on the prescription? Tussionex also contains Hydrocodone with Chlorpheniramine, so it's likely close to what you've taken before. The FDA lists this medication as being a cough suppressant, but it does contain a narcotic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation.

Poly-Tussin DM Cough Syrup Chlorpheniramine + Dextromethorphan + Phenylephrine

Dextromethorphan, often referred to as DXM, is a medication most often used as a cough suppressant in over-the-counter cold and cough medicines. It is sold in syrup, tablet, spray, and lozenge forms. It is in the morphinan class of medications with sedative, dissociative, and stimulant properties (at lower doses). Dextromethorphan does not have a significant affinity for the mu-opioid receptor activity typical of morphinan compounds and exerts its therapeutic effects through several other rec...

Can I take Duro-tuss Cough Liquid with Staphylex (flucloxacillin) 500mg that I'm using for a skin infection? ## Hello Wally, I hope you are having a wonderful day. According to DailyMed neither Staphylex or Flucloxacillin list each other or their active ingredients as having negative interactions, however, they do state that you should consult your doctor if you plan to take any additional medication. As a general rule of thumb it's better to be safe than sorry. I hope this information helps.

You just have to find a Vet that can fill that specific prescription. I have gone through several Vets to find the Tussigon cough medication for our dog. I finally found a great Vet that can fill the prescription in their office every 30 days. That's the easiest way to go. ## How many pills and what was the cost? I just picked up 21 pills from my vet and it cost me $55.75. Can I get this filled cheaper anywhere? ## Thanks for the helpful feedback Jeri! If you'd be so kind, please also feel free to share your message in the existing Tussigon discussion threads so that others who may also be searching for this treatment will have a chance to read it and/or respond at: 1. tussigon hycodan 5mg for dogs 2. tussigon for dog problems @Barbara, I think the cost may vary from pharmacy to...

I have taken TUSSIONEX several times when I've had bronchitis. It really breaks up the congestion and helps with the cough. I got a bottle today and the consistency is like Water. My resolved has always been a thick consistency and gritty. I think it was watered down. ## Hi Debe, Given my past experience with cough syrup over the last 10-15 years, I've noticed similar discrepancies in other syrups (both OTC and Rx). In my two recent encounters, the codeine cough syrup my wife was prescribed also appeared watered down vs the last time I saw a bottle. Her OTC robitussin has seemingly been watered down as well. One thing I will state is that it has been several years since I had last seen or used any form of cough syrup prior to this year....but the thing is, it used to be soooo th...

My only real health problem has been psoriasis since about age 46, but it has radically moderated beginning at about age 78, and seemed to coincide with onset of male menopause. The methotrexate was prescribed maybe some years ago, but during the past year I have found it possible to reduce pills taken from 3 or 4 2.5mg pills per week to only one per week for the last month or so. Methotrexate is supposed to suppress the im...

cold and cough ## i am taking this liquid syrup for my chest and head cold and would like to know what the medicine that are in the syrup. thanks! ## From what I can find this contains the active ingredients Guaifenesin and Hydrocodone, so it is an expectorant and cough suppressant. The Hydrocodone is a narcotic, so it does have the potential to be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. You can learn more Guaifenesin details here and you can learn more Hydrocodone details here. Are there any questions or comments? Is there anything I can help with?
