I just received my labs, I'm 5'7" 150lbs, black male. My TSH 17.17 and my T4 1.08, I am currently on 100mcg, and my doctor increased me to 125mcg of levothyroxine. Does this seem normal, I was on 200mcg my entire high school and middle school life. Now I'm 23 and this new doctor doesn't seem to think I'll need that much, but I'm trying to join the navy and you can't unless your hypo and it's controlled on meds. ## Also, I've been hypo since I was 10yrs old. Got hashimotos and it did work on my thyroid, currently zero thyroid function and has been like this for over a decade now. ## Hello, Nappyclouds! How are you doing? If you really fear that this doctor may not be properly handling your condition, then the best thing to do would be to see a diff...

Dear Forum members, Yesterday I havechecked my TSH level in the blod and found to be around 9.54μIU/L. My age is 33 years now. As per my understanding increasing TSH levels decreases the T3 and T4 levels. I have also given bllod samples for estimation of T3 & T4 levels in the blood. could anyone suggest me what type of medication shall I take to bring these levels to normal stage and diet and any nutritional supplements. As on date I didnt observed any symptoms & problems in my body ## I am 53 years. My TSH level is 12. However T3 & T4 are normal. What kind of medication should I take. ## High TSH levels (if your thyroid and pituitary work properly) increase T4 production, which is converted to T3 by removing one iodine. T3 is very important, if you're a bit h...

these numbers seem to be very misleading. I am in bio-identcal thyroid supplement but even on synthroid the tsh was very high. doctors seem to be mystified and can't get appt. with endocrinologist for 3 months. ## Hi Kathy, Sorry to hear about your situation. I'm not completely familiar with thyroid readings, but if it's of any help, the normal values listed for 'T3' levels are said to be anywhere between 100 - 200 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL). And a typical range for 'T4' is said to be from 4.5 - 11.2 micrograms per deciliter (mcg/dL). Hi, I am 8 weeks pregnant. My TSH thyroid level has come 308.2 in blood test during 6th week which is very high as compared to normal levels. I was not having any symptoms before conceiving so never consulted doctor. we got to know about TSH level only during blood test when I got pregnant..and it came 308.2, then we retested it again on empty stomach but it came 332..Doctor was wondering how i conceived at such high level of TSH. We have then consulted another physician. Doctor has prescribed 100 mcg thyronorm tablets (which I am taking everday on empty stomach) and suggested for retest after 1 month. I am really scared, can high level of TSH be a risk to pregnancy? Can it affect my baby or can it be controlled safely? Can you please advise and share your opinions? ## Yes, it can be co...

Hi, I had been diagnosed with Thyroid (Hypo) and my TSH was 100+ in the month of May'2013. At that time, my BP was slightly high (137/91) and weight 66 Kgs. I was prescribed to take Thyroxcin 100mcg. Later in the late July'2013, my TSH was 0.04 and BP was (147/73) and weight 62.9 Kgs. I was advised to continue Thyroxcin 100mcg for another 2 months but at home, my parents insisted me not to take such a high dose when TSH has fallen down to 0.04 and told me to take Thyroxin 50mcg which i am continuing since then.. On 4th Dec 2013, My TSH was 4.68, BP was (140/110) and weight 64Kgs. I changed my doctor and i was advised to take Thyronorm 50 mcg & Thyrowell and was advised to visit next month with FT3, FT4, TSH, TPO AB tests. On 24/01/2014, i visited the doctor with the above te...

I had thyroid taken out in May of this year. Started taing generic version of synthroid-75mcg. I had no problems. Went in July to endo doc and tsh levels were 23 so she raised to 100mcg. Has my RAi-100miC-with no problems in mid July. Started getting chapped lips end of August. Endo doc attributed to not at correct TSH levels. Levels still high at 6 so medicine raised to 125mcg. I had 100mcg left so for 3 weeks took M-F 100mcg x 1 and then Sat and Sun took 100mcg x 2. Still having issues w lips so tried zinc oxide and hydrocortisone w some success. Went off medicine for 4 days and lips went back to normal. So seems like allergic reaction. Since still having problems tried generic non dye pill and that did not work. I then did round of 6 day pack of prednisone and was on name brand Tiros...

wat are d side effects of thyronorm ## Thyronorm is a brand of Levothyroxine sodium that is used to treat hypothyroidism. Dosing must be carefully controlled to achieve TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) levels within the normal reference range. Long-term suppression of TSH values below normal values will frequently cause cardiac side-effects and contribute to decreases in bone mineral density (high TSH levels are also well known to contribute to osteoporosis). Patients prescribed too high a dose of levothyroxine may experience effects that mimic hyperthyroidism. Overdose can result in heart palpitations, abdominal pain, nausea, anxiousness, confusion, agitation, insomnia, weight loss, and increased appetite. Allergic reactions to the drug are characterized by symptoms such as difficulty...

Is there any side effects to that n is it too high? I m 36 yrs and my weight is 55kgs. Pleas suggest me that how long i hav to take the medicines? ## Tina, the hair loss and dry/brittle hair can be normal side effects of this medication. Learn more thyroid hormone details here. I've never heard of it causing the foot pain, though. Have you talked to your doctor about it? Kavita, yes, you may also experience the side effects such as hair loss, brittle/dry hair and weight changes. And if you have a thyroid disorder, you may need to take some type of medication for it throughout your life. Are there any other questions?

Small round pill with flint 100 on it ## This is Synthroid 0.1mg. It is used for people who have problems with their thyroid. ## Yes i take that dose myself, i actually take 2 doses between 1mg and 88mg. My thyroid doctor is trying to get me on the right dose right now for my tsh level. I want to be on 1mg, cause i feel my body works better with that dose but he feels that is too high for me. Because i had cancer in my thyroid before it was removed and my tsh is still high but that is his opinion against mine, its doctors against patients as usual. ## This is correct, the tablet is manufactured by Knoll Pharmaceutical Company and they list it as containing 100mcgs of Synthroid, which is used to treat thyroid disorders. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea,...

Been on Levothyroxine 3 months at 50mg. My levels showed 35...is this high? I don't feel any better and often feel worse. Are the mood swings of sudden extreme anger and crying all a symptom of Hypothyroidism? The moods are so bad. I did try antidepressants but they made no difference and often made me feel worse. Now I have good days and bad days. Do I need an increase in Levothyroxine? ## More than likely you do need an increase in dose but only a Dr via TSH test can tell you for sure as taking more without a Dr prescription can lead to very serious health issues ## Thank you for your response. I returned to the doctors who said my levels had returned to normal after being on 50 mg of thyroid treatment for 3 months, Originally when I was diagnosed they were at 35. However I feel a...
