Telmisartan 40 Ch

Dear sir, I am 60 year old male having hypertension as only health issue. Since last two years I am taking Vincor AM 50/5 ,(a Metoprolol- amlodipine combination) . My BP is well under control ( 80/128). As side effects I have developed Swelling in ankles. According to Doctor it is drug induced edema. he has suggested to change medication to Telsite H (40/12.5). Kindly guide me, can I switch over to new regimen at once , without any issues related to discontinuing Vincor. With Regards, Dilip Thakur.

I am a 60 year old male with high BP. I was taking Losar 50 mg ×2 and metoprolol XL 25mg × 2 but as my BP shot up to 160/90 with heaviness in my head and neck, the doctor changed the medicines and introduced Temsan-H in the morning and metoprolol XL 25mg in the evening since the last 3 days. I am feeling better but since introduction of this medicine at times I feel slight pressure on the upper part of the chest. Is this side effects of Temsan-H and reducing the dose of metoprolol? my blood pressure used to be 150/90 or 140/90. The doctor prescribed me Telmisartan BP 40mg & Metoprolol Succinate USP 25 mg about 3 months back. After 2 months BP came down to 120/80 but, now for the last one week I am facing severe gas problem in stomach & chest. On 17/05/2011 evening I had severe pain and consumed fruit salt (ENO), Pantoprazole+ Itopride& also (Colinol) a pain killer for stomach ache. But, they did not prove to be useful at all. Now since 20/05/2011 I am having chest & stomach pain due to gas every day although I am taking "Pantoprazole 40 mg & Domperidone IP 30 mg but, I am not getting any relief from pain. My doc . Prescribed Telma am after the By Pass to control BP but the BP was around 165/85. So he changed to Telma 40. The BP is still 170/ 85. Now he has again advised me to shift to Telma am. My brother(age 40) is diabetic and has high BP. He was taking Telma 80,which makes the BP 100/65. Then doctor change the medicine to Telma 40. Now his BP is 140/90 and doctor prescribed him Telma H 40,which causes dizziness and low BP. What should he do? ## The Telma-H contains Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, this latter medication is a diuretic that removes excess fluid from the body. It is likely that he is experiencing some dehydration from it and that is what is causing the low blood pressure and dizziness. Are there any side effects? ## According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there are no interactions listed between Ecosprin (Aspirin) and Tazloc (Telmisartan). This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, so I still think it's imperative that you discuss this with your doctor first. However, I do tend to trust the research stemming from universities of this caliber. Also, if you are taking both meds together it would be particularly difficult to distinguish the origin of side effects that do occur as being attributed to either medication in and of itself vs a reaction that was caused by the two of them together.
