Taking Contrave And Alcohol

I understand that you should NOT drink alcohol while on Contrave. My question is this - how long should I wait before starting Contrave after consuming my last alcoholic drink, which has been two days ago now. I have read of the risks of possible seizures when abruptly stopping alcohol consumption to begin Contrave, but what is considered the cutoff? I have filled my prescription of Contrive but have not yet started taking it. I read all the possible side effects and am weary about taking in and wanting to continue to socially drink (glass of wine, socially drink on weekends) ## @pnj, According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there ARE potentially dangerous interactions between Contrave and Alcohol. These statements go on to note the following: Consuming alcohol with Bupropion (one of the active ingredients in Contrave) may lead to an increased risk of seizures, decreased tolerance to alcohol, muscle spasms, confusion, and changes in cognitive awareness. Hello, I have been taking Contrave for 6 days, so 1 pill in the morning with a small meal. We are going floating today and plan on having a few beers so I chose not to take my Contrave today. I have been having extremely vivid dreams on Contrave. Some cause me to wake up mid dream. Also noticed that I had to sleep about 20 hours on Sunday after drinking Saturday night. Anyone else seeing these side effects and should I be concerned? ## Those can be normal side effects, alcohol tends to intensify them, according to NIH reports, which is why you are usually told not to imbibe, while taking any prescription medications. Hi. I am scheduled for a surgery in 2 weeks, in which I'll be having general anesthesia. Does anybody know if the Contrave will interact with the meds they give you to put you out? I'm just getting started with this. I hate to quit, but safety first. I want to know about whether or not people experience appetite control? Everyone just keeps saying they lost a couple of pounds or they didn't. But I want to know did you have a decreased appetite? Did you see that piece of cake sitting there and able to say no thanks or just grab it and dig in...
