It says take 2 pills every 4 hours and I have 80 pills how many days is that? ## 2 pills every 4 hours and 80 pills how many dsys ## Approximately 7 days supply, to be more precise, it would come out to be 6.6 days. Unless the instructions say it's to be taken on an as needed basis, if that is the case, then your doctor may think they should last longer. The FDA defines PRN in a very similar manner. What medication is it? My mother is 74 yrs old. Had rotator cuff surgery 4 days ago. Had to take her to the ER on day two. There they gave her an IM Dilaudid shot and sent her home. Called the doctor on call the next day and ask if they could admit her for pain management, he proceeded to tell me that the insurance would not pay for it. Post-op surgery they gave her Percocet 7.5/325 1-2 every 4-6 hours for pain. To make a long story short. Two was too strong so she had the 5-325 and took two every four hours and that would help her pain level which would be tolerable at 5. This is 3900mg of tylenol. Too much in only 24 hours. This should last me 30 days, but two weeks from the date of prescription it was changed allowing me to take it every 6 hours. When can I get my next refill if it was prescribed Oct. 31, 2016 - present? ## May I ask what medication you are taking? It is ultimately up to the doctor if they are able to issue you a refill sooner than 30 days. Since they upped your dose then they should be aware that you will go through the prescription more quickly. If you took 3 per day for 2 weeks then that would leave you with about 48 pills (90 total - [14 days * 3 per day]). Then if you started taking 4 per day (24 hours / every 6 hours) then you would go through the remaining pills in about 12 days. So in the end you would have gone through your entire prescription in about 26 days, finishing about 4 ...

If it's prescribed every four hours, how many times a day is it? ## If you take a dose first thing in the morning and then factor in 8 hours of sleep, that's 5 times in a day. Though technically every 4 hours covers 6 times in a 24 hour period. Using a simplified example: 8 am - wake up, take a dose 12 pm - take 2nd dose 4 pm - take 3rd dose 8 pm - take 4th dose 12 am - take 5th dose, go to sleep sleep until 8 am next day Of course the above is oversimplified. My husband has cancer stage 4. His Dr has prescribed him morphine sulfate 1 pill every 12 hrs & Oxycodone 1 pill every 4 hrs. How many doses would I be taking if I took them every 5 hours? Because if I started the time at 12am and went a full 24 hours, I'd take a dose at 8pm which is technically the last dose in 24 hours, because the next dose is at 1am which is passed the 24 hour mark; so wouldn't that be 4 in 24 hours? I'm confused here. ## If you take a dose every 6 hours, you'd be taking 4 in each 24 hour period, while some doses may overlap the given days, the most important part is to stay on that schedule of every 6 hours. The usual adult dosage is: Acetaminophen (300mg-1000mg) 4x daily for a maximum dose of 4000mg within a 24 hour period. Codeine Phosphate (15mg-60mg) 4x daily for a maximum of 360mg within a 24 hour period. Doses may be repeated up to every 4 hours. The prescriber must determine the number of tablets per dose, and the maximum number of tablets per 24 hours based upon the above dosage guidance. This information should be conveyed in the prescription. NOTE: Keep in mind that high doses of either of these are considered to be toxic.
