3 Topics FoundMy mother ( age 64)is having loose motion for past 2-3 months along with urinary tract infection. Doctor has provided Providac but the results were mot satisfactory. will some one suggest why this medicine has been given for and to get good results how long this medicine is to be taken . ## Providac is essentially good bacteria which when taken will replace the bad bacteria and the toxins they produce. So providac neutralizes the effects of the bad bacteria and makes way for a healthy and normal environment in the stomach and intestine.

I 'm resident of New Delhi treated at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Endoscopy & Colonoscopy check-up also there and doctor advice me to take Refugut cap for 7 days and Bifilac cap. for 40 days. Again, I was treated at Medanta Medacity Hospital at Guregaon. I was recommended to take Providac cap. alongwith other medicines i.e. Shelcal 500, Zevit, Folic-Acid etc.to take upto three months. i have been given rifagut tab 200 mg twice a day as i am suffering from stomach problem.i hae been given providac for healthy bacetria.m x-ray and ct scan reports are normal.i have gas in lower abdomen and sometimes feel acidity.please help ## Rifagut contains the active ingredient Rifaximin which is an antibiotic and the only way it will help is if you were infected with the H.
