Hello, I've been on 150 of Synthroid for about 3 years. Recently I started training for a half marathon and have lost about 25 pounds in the last 7 months. Does weight loss/gain mean dosage change? Last blood test was about 4 months ago and everything checked out normal. Any feedback would be great. Thank you. ## The dosage is based on the levels of thyroid hormones, not your weight, but your doctor should be checking that every 3 to 4 months and make an adjustment to the medication, if necessary. How often has your doctor been running the tests?
I underwent radioactive Iodine and my endoc put me onto hormone replacement and had synthroid 150mcg for more than a year but when i got here in USA my new endoc switch me to generic levo and 4 months after i feel something unusual like heart palpitations, shortness of breath, dry skin, high blood pressure and insomnia. I went to a primary doctor 3 weeks ago and he lower my dosage to 112mcg but still generic and until now i'm not able to sleep. He gave me zolpidem for just 1 week only but my insomnia did'nt go away. I want to know if the 112mcg is still too high of a dosage as it is more than 3 weeks and no relief.I have schedule appointment to my endoc but not until dec 16.Any advice would be a great for me because i really need to sleep. Thanks ## I am just an informed and expe...
I have had a partial thyroidectomy. Was started on levothyroxine 50 mcg. Now up to 150mcg. I had a mirena put in and periods stopped before my thyroid issues started and did not have a period. Swapped to brand synthroid and they started back after about 3 or 4 months. A year later I swapped back to levothyroxine and they stopped again. My tsh was elevated and my doctor recommended I go to brand necessary synthroid and 4 months later my periods have started back. ## That can be a normal side effect of the medication changes, and your original thyroid issue, according to FDA reports. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, mood swings, and hair loss. Are you on any other medications?
I am having trouble controlling my blood sugars since starting levothyroxine 150 mcg 2 weeks ago after having my thyroid removed, I am on diabetes medication and have been for years and it has been under control and now I am getting crazy highs and lows. Is anyone else having this problem? my Dr. tells me there is no interaction but when I looked it up online it said there was and by the way I am feeling I tend to believe what I read.. any information would be appreciated.. thanks! ## U also need T3 which is Cytomel (or the generic Liothyronine SOD); this is to counter balance the T4 Levothyroxin u've bn taking. The only med that has both is Armor thyroid natural glandular which is hard to come by. ## You may also ask for Synthroid instead of the generic version, Levothyroxine. I kn...
