Swollen Feet And Thyroid Medicine

my new dr changed my Synthroid from 125 down to 112 and I am now fatigued , swollen feet, light headedness and wt gain. Is this the reason? Can it cause heart failure? ## Hello, Nancy! How are you? Why did your new doctor change it? Did they check your levels first? Those can be signs of your thyroid levels being out of whack. As to the heart failure, no, I've not heard of it being known to cause that. Do you have a cardiac condition?

I had been taking synthroid for 4 months at 50mg a day but about 2 weeks ago I stopped taking it because my insurance expired and I am unable to pay for the doctors visit or prescription. About a week and half ago my feet and ankles started swelling and have now swollen to the point where the skin is so tight and they are so big I can't get my shoes on and can hardly walk. I had a total thyroid removal in June 2014. Was 1st put on 124mg of Levothyroxine, later 112 mg and swelling in both feet and legs began. My left leg looked like a stove pipe along with my swollen feet and toes. I developed hammer toes next to my large toe. Later I was placed on the 100mcg and the swelling continued. I spoke with my endorcrinologic who told me she could not help me but to speak with my general practitioner. To make a long story short I went to a heart doctor, had a mapping of my legs and found out I had small veins. I was told I had Lymphedema and was referred to a clinic. I did not go to this doctor. I have concluded swelling in legs, feet and ankles is due the thyroid med not being compatible with the user and resulting in myxedema. I.don't know what the solution is but I.am sure I have it. ## Hello, Marilyn! How are you? What thyroid medication do you take? Have you been diagnosed with Grave's Disease? I take Levothyroxin. I don't have a doctor who is knowledgeable. My immune system has been out of wack for.years with dry eyes and rashes and now swelling and now leg.burning and swollen legs and ankles.
