I just got my 150mg XL refill. the mfr is accord healthcare and they smell like rotten eggs. I'm not taking them. Going to try to get brand name. I was prescribed sulfamethoxazole-TMP DS. The pill is oval with a V on the font and 58|98 on the back. It does not smell like sulfur at all, and my urine has not smelled of sulfur. Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is a sulfur based antibiotic, but it is not actual sulfur, so it will not smell like it or cause your urine to smell like it. I noticed today when changing my dressing, an odor from my cathater site.also on used dressing. I've been on and off using antibiotic powder for summer months when it's over 100 degrees. Does that smell always indicate infection? ## What are you using the antibiotic powder for? What type of odor? Some antibiotics can cause a sulfur-like smell to your urine. Have you consulted your doctor?
I'm allergic to Sulpha based drugs, but I am into cooking and wondered if it would be safe for me to try black sea salt? in the descriptions it keeps mentioning it has a sulphur like taste, smell, etc, in it's description, but I can't seem to find out if it's actually sulphur based. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. ## There is a difference between sulfa drugs and actual sulfur. Can you eat egg yolks without a problem? If so, then you are not allergic to sulfur, because they are very high in it. I am also allergic to sulfa drugs, but have no problem with actual sulfur.
