I'm allergic to bactrim with sulfer can I take bio-flex ## There is a risk that you could be allergic to other sulfa substances, especially since being allergic to one increases your risk of being allergic to others, as reported by the NIH. I found out that I am allergic to Bactrim, but I've taken these supplements without problems in the past and I take some sulfa based blood pressure medications without issues, but not all. Thus, I think it would be best to consult your doctor first, for your own safety. Are you allergic to any other medications?

I am allergic to sulfa antibiotics and was wondering something. I've noticed when I take magnesium sulfate/epsom salt bath that I can hardly function for two or three days from the pain. I won't take them anymore, but is there a correlation? ## They are not the same substance, but it is a known fact that when you are allergic to one substance, you will eventually find more that you are also allergic to, it is just the nature of the beast. However, allergies don't normally cause pain, they usually involved problems breathing, throat swelling, soft tissue swelling, itchy skin rashes, and etc. What type of pain are you experiencing? Is it skin sensitivity, muscle pain, or something else?

looking for name of a regular asthma inhaler besides symbacort that does not have sulfate in it. I am allergic to sulfate. I use a rescue inhaler but I cannot use it all the time and my doctor doesn't know that much about asthma inhalers and sulfate its a low income doctors office. So again any suggestions. No sulfate. Thanks ## Hello, Theresa! How are you? Sorry about the problem you're having. However, I need to ask what exactly it is that you're allergic to? Is it sulfa drugs, sulfates or sulfites? What type of reaction do you have and how did you discover the allergy? These are all important details to determine what may or may not be safe for you to use. Do you see an allergist? ## I'm allergic to all sulfas per my primary physician and the diagnostics they ran. I b...

Have been taking these ear drops for 3 days now. My tongue is numb, my chest is tight, and it's hard to breath. Feels like I'm impaired. My whole body hurts and this started out as a simple inner and outer ear infection in both ears, start taking these drops and now I feel like my heart and brain is going to explode and my face and body feel numb, on top of all of that my ears have gotten worse!!!! Should I call my doctor or go to the hospital? Please help! ## Go to the hospital. Could be an anaphylactic attack! ## @PainPainPain, I hope you've been well on your way to fully recovering since the timing of your post and subsequent feedback. If I'm allergic to Bactrim, can I take glucosamine sulfate, methylsulfonylemethane, hyaluronan, boswellia serrata, white willow bark, turmeric root extract, cayenne. (All the ingredients found in Instaflex) ## Hello, Zory! How are you? One is a drug and the other is an over the counter supplement, which means the supplement really hasn't been evaluated to see if it may cause problems with certain allergies. Since there are some sulfa based ingredients, there is chance that you could react to it, if it was the Sulfamethoxazole in the Bactrim that you're allergic to, thus it would be best to check with your doctor, before taking it. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am allergic to sulfa drugs and currently have bronchitis. One of the things prescribed to me is ventolin hfa it says it has albuterol sulfate should I be concerned? ( I did tell the Dr that I was allergic to sulfa drugs.) Two more questions, I used to get really itchy tiny bumps on my back. The doctor never could figure out why, but I started looking at the ingredients of shampoos and saw that most of them had sodium lauryl sulfate. This was before I was ever diagnosed with an allergy to sulfa drugs. Is there a connection with sulfa drugs and sodium lauryl sulfate? Last question, the last two times I've colored my hair the guy gave me a burning sensation on my scalp. It wasn't so extreme but definitely noticeable. The ingredients contain sodium metabisulfite is that yet anothe...

I was just wondering If talwin has sulfa drug in them ## Do you suffer from a sulfa allergy? If so, what did you react to? The reason I'm asking is because many people confuse sulfa drugs, sulfates and sulfites. Thus, I can better assist you regarding any possible dangers, if I have more details! Thanks!

If I'm allergic to sulfa can I take lomotil? I had a reaction to the sulfa salt in Levbid. My sulfa allergy is bad enough that I have to watch what vegetables I eat. I'm also allergic to latex, eggs, cleocin, flagyl. I'm not sure which sulfate I'm allergic to. Also am hypersensitive to sulfides and can't drink wine. I don't attempt beer because I have celiacs. Just thought if I provided all my allergies, you might see a common thread. My allergies are bad enough I have an epi pen ## Hi Angela, Based on my research, Lomotil does contain a sulfa-based active ingredient (atropine sulfate)... So I'd say it is something to stay away from if you have a sulfa allergy. I also wasn't aware that there were so many types of sulfa/sulfur/sulfate allergies? But an art...

I wrote the company that makes Drixoral several months ago and they recommended Claritin D. It doesn't work nearly as well as Drixoral. I can't stand the sick feeling or bad allergy symptoms I have without Drixoral. ## I have had success with ClaratinD 12 hour(it has pseudophedrine sulfate) and Wal mart's Equate children's cough & cold DM elixer (it has Brompheniramine maleate) I could not find any product with dexbrompheniramine maleate in it but the brompheniramine maleate seams to work. I have been taking Drixorl Cold & Allergy for over 20 years. When I could no longer get it I was so sick I could not get out of bed most days. Do you think we are addicted to Drixoral? These symptoms sound like what drug addicts go through when they can't get a fix. My husb...

Does Hydrocodone Apap 5 325 contain sulfate of any kind? I am allergic to Sulpha Drugs. Thank you, Diane Ross ## The active ingredients Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen aren't sulfa based, however, without knowing the specific manufacturer, I can't tell you anything about the inactive ingredients. Can you post back with more details, such as the manufacturer, or specific markings on the tablet? Is your doctor and pharmacy aware of your allergy? If they are, then it shouldn't be a problem, because any prescribed medications would automatically be checked for you. ## wanted to know if this med had Tylonol in it... ## Hydrocodone Apap 5 325 ## Angela, yes, that is what the Acetaminophen is, it's the same active ingredient that is in Tylenol. I would like to know if there are any sulfa product in this medication? I am diabetic and have nerve damage in feet and Neurontin does not work for me. ## I am also allergic to sulfa products and was just placed on Lyrica for fibromyalagia. Since my doctor knows about my allergy, I assume there is no sulfa in this product. ## There is a sulfate in the name brand of this, sodium lauryl sulfate, not sure if that counts for your allergy or what, as I am not familiar with it. Here is a page that lists all the ingredients for the name brand: Lyrica Ingredients Since the inactives can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, you would need to check the ingredients for any of these that you are prescribed. By FDA regulations, the active ingredient, in this case Pregabalin, can differ from the n...

Does lyrica/ pregabalina have sulfur in it ## Hi Lady D, Based on my research, certain manufacturers of Lyrica (pregabalin) do put in a substance called "sodium lauryl sulfate"; which can bring about an allergic reaction in those with sulfa allergies. That said, your best bet would probably be to inform your doctor and/or pharmacist about this allergy, so they can make sure they give you the proper form of Lyrica. NOTE: post #2 in the following discussion thread may also address your concern in more depth: Discuss/allergic-reaction-165390.htm You can learn more about this drug on the page for Lyrica Details I hope this info helps! ## No they are not related.
