Aside from the numbers, what is the difference between Sudafed L432 and Sudafed 44 112? My pharmacist gave me a packet that describes the pills inside as being a "RED, ROUND-shaped TABLET imprinted with L432 on the front." BUT the pills I got had 44 over 112 instead of L432. Is it the same thing or did they give me the wrong pills? ## @Ade, Both pills in question are identified as Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 30 mg (the generic of Sudafed). However, because each tablet is manufactured by a different company, not only is there going to be a slight variation of inactive ingredients (binders/fillers), but also since the medication is in generic form, it is permitted by the FDA to be allowed to contain as much as 20% more or less of the actual active ingredient as well. For some pe...

I was informed from a co worker that I could not purchase another box of Sudafed 12 hour for another month. New state law. It is the only product that works for my sinus problems & I do take 2 @ a time. One just doesn't work. Is this true? ## Hello, Stephanie! How are you? What state are you in? I'll gladly research this for you, but I need to be able to narrow it down, a little. Did you try asking your pharmacist? The FDA classifies this medication as a decongestant and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, insomnia and dry mouth. There is a certain limit on the amount you can purchase each month, so that might be what your coworker is talking about and they just misunderstood. That doesn't mean you can't buy more, b...

Hi I am basically looking for the original sudafed as I dont handle the sudafed PE and these are the ones that do the job for me. Also the generic brand equivalent to the sudafed original are also just as good. ## I had the same issue with the newer, version on the shelf. I ended up purchasing the Walgreens generic version of the original Sudafed after finding out the over the counter is not the same as the original. I get the 4hr red pill and it works fine. You have to ask the pharmacist for it as it is no longer on the shelf and you have to sign for it.

I need Sudafed at night when I wake up with a sinus headache. At my age it is EXTREMELY difficult to open the packaging in the middle of the night. I need these pills in a bottle. HELP! ## Hello, Scott! How are you doing? I have only seen it available in the blister packs, but there is nothing preventing you from opening one, or more ahead of time and putting them in an empty/leftover bottle. It is not illegal to do so, just make sure to keep them out of the reach of any pets, or young children that might be around. It would also be wise to make sure to label the bottle accordingly, perhaps you could write over a pre-existing label with a Sharpie? The FDA warns that it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, insomnia, and nervousness. Are you on any other medications? ## Than...

Our local Walgreens informed us that Sudafed or their brand Wal-phed could only be purchased if you had an active prescription acct (not for sudafed- just any active prescription) that had been filled within the previous 30 days. They don't accept our insurance, so we have prescriptions filled over at our local Walmart pharmacy. They wouldn't let us buy Sudafed at all because of this! The pharmacy manager told us this was a regional policy due to dirtbag methheads. Is this legal? ## Hello, David! How are you? Yep, they can do that, as long as they apply it across the board to everyone and aren't just singling you out. I think Wal-Mart carries it, so you should be able to purchase it there. Side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness and insomnia. Is there a...
