Thank you. ## Hi Ellen, Solmux contains the active ingredient Carbocisteine, which is used to help thin the mucous caused by conditions such as allergies and COPD. The dosage and administration guidelines for this medication state the following: For adults and children over age 12, one capsule of Carbocisteine (Solmux) should be taken with food every 8 hours. I couldn't locate information pertaining to the length of time one should be taking this, but I would suggest contacting your local pharmacy about that, since it could depend on how severe the condition is.
