I have been taking brand name Avapro for years, but now that it has gone generic Theexpense has become astronomical. Thinking about going generic ...however worried about side effects. Any generic version I should be aware of? I am so leary of generics and the fillers and overseas manufacturers. ## Hi Henrietta, Based on my research Avapro made by Solco healthcare U.S. is based out of Cranbury, New Jersey. It appears that this is where their headquarters is located according to the company's webpage. You are right though about generics being a little iffy when it comes to the fillers and side effects. However there's really no way to know for sure how any generic/brand is going to effect you until you try it. If you're used to taking the brand name, it would probably be easi...

I had a heart attack 6 months ago and my doctor put me on Carvedilol 6.25 mg. My pharmacy used the pills made by Solco Healthcare. They changed manufacturer's to ZYDUS Pharmeceuticals this month and it doesn't keep my blood pressure down as good. After taking Solco Healthcare Losartan for many years, with no problems, I switched to another less expensive brand, Aurobindo. I soon began to notice my bp reads were significantly higher and, indeed, I too developed a cough. After 2 months of this I switched back to my Solco Losartan and, thankfully, my bp reads have once again stabilized and my coughing has ceased. In all fairness, I cannot say for certain that my cough was caused from the Aurobindo med, I only know the duration of my cough was during this time period. ## I took Aurobindo losartan 50 mg. for three to four weeks and experienced the same symptoms as you, but my cough still persists. My Furosemide dose continues at three 20mg pills twice a day, but a change occurred with the manufacturer. It was Westward (54 840) and now it's Solco Health (V 3169). My daytime blood pressure is now dropping. Is there any correlation between this and the differences in pills? Both are 20mg tablets. ## How low is it dropping? Have you made any other changes to your diet, or lifestyle? Sometimes, as ones blood pressure gets lower, medication doses need to be lowered to keep it from going too low. Are you also making sure that you are staying hydrated? Furosemide works by removing excess fluid from the body, and if you become dehydrated, that will also cause your blood pressure to drop. Other side effects may include dizziness, headache, and increased urination.
